Pretty in Pink

I love playing with my Distress inks....I love making bkg. and playing with simple techniques.  That is what this card incorporate; simple stamping with water.  You don't need a lot of supplies to create this effect.
Here is what I did.
I began by masking an area on my cardstock then sponged shades of pink Distress inks onto my paper.  Next, using the bkg stamp from Penny Black called  Circular Design, I sprayed it with water and stamped it onto the inked area.  Since Distress inks are water based, you can see how it leaves a pale impression where the water removes the ink  .When dry, I stamped the Dreamy flowers with black Memento black, then embossed with clear.  Isn't that sentiment just wonderful!  I stamped the sentiment called The Best Day the same way as above.  I am including this in the challenge at Moxie Fab....Create Your Own Background Paper.

Greenery

Hope you enjoyed a great weekend.  Today I am playing along with the CAS challenge (Clean and Simple) at Splitcoast.  This was an easy one to create.  I masked the middle area then stamped the fern image from Paper Artsy three times to cover the masked area.  I inked the stamp with Distress inks in greens then sprayed with water before stamping for a water coloured look.  Added the scoring lines then the sentiment to complete my card.
You never know when you need a sympathy card so happy to have one on hand.
Thanks so very much for coming by and taking a look today.

All is Calm

Looking outside today, this is what the weather looked like for awhile.  It was so good to see the sun and the blue sky.  Didn't last long enough though.  Anyways, I noticed that the card I have been posting lately are blue.  I am not feeling 'blue' these days...guess it is my love of the blue distress inks and wanted to play with them.  I was playing along with the Featured Stamper challenge today at Splitcoast.
I stamped the winter image from Penny Black called Snowy Park with Memento black then embossed it.  Next, I rubbed on distress inks then, using my water pen, highlighted the trees.  Since the ink is water soluble, the water dilutes it making it look like snow on the trees.  I added the sentiment All is Calm and embossed it with clear.  I then used an embossing folder to create the bkg.
So glad you came by to take a look today.  Sure hope that maybe, you are enjoying sunny skies too.

Blue Bliss

Welcome to the weekend!!  So happy I had time to make a card for the Inspiration challenge at Splitcoast today and for the challenge at Moxie Fab; to create you own background paper.  I was inspired by a card holder seen below.  Since I love playing with my Distress inks, this card was an easy one.
I started by creating the small panel first.  It did start out to be bigger but I wasn't happy with the results so I cut it down to a smaller size.  I sponged on distress inks in blues being sure to overlap them in a circular design.  Using a water pen, I added water to blend it all together.  When it was dry, I added the sentiment from Penny Black called Friendship and Happiness.  Next, I had to think about how to mount my piece.  I grabbed the sponges I was using and just dragged them across my card front.  I added my main piece using pop dots and of course, some twine was the finishing touch.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

OLW124- Doodled Up

Welcome to another week for the OLW challenge (One Layer Wednesday).  This week the challenge is:

Doodled Up- add doodling to your card!

Doodles are fun, I think they can add a touch of whimsy to your card.  You could doodle a frame; stamp an image and enhance it by adding doodles; stamp a sentiment and doodle all around it.  Let your imagination soar.  So here's what I did with my card.
First, I masked around the center area so I could sponge on Distress inks in the open area to give a sunny glow.  I removed the masks, stamped the sentiment and the circles.  Lastly I doodled a frame around the edges and added the twine and pearl.  I am adding my card to the challenge at Moxie Fab; Create Your Own Background paper.
Hope you get a chance to play along with us this week. Here are all the deets:

OLW124 Rules

Blue Blocking

Hi there.  Here is a card I made for the CAS challenge today at Splitcoast; based on a sketch.  I was playing with my distress inks again and created the bkg. by inking up my acrylic block with blues, spraying with water and randomly stamped it being sure to overlap areas...re-inked it every time.  I added a swipe with my ink pad directly to my card front, mounted the flowers and added the sentiment.
I am also adding my card to the challenge at Moxie Fab; Create Your Own Background Paper.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

One Stamp, Two Ways

Today at the Penny Black blog, they are featuring 2 of my cards created for different occasions using the same stamp.  We are trying to show how versatile these newly released stamps can be.

My first is a thank-you card using the new Sweet Buds stamp.  I stamped the image with black Memento ink then stamped again, punched out a circle and coloured with Copics.  I pop dotted that circle over top of the flower to create a spotlight card.  The sentiment is called Thanks.

Here is my second card done in a Lovey Dovey style for Valentine's Day.  Using the same Sweet Buds stamp, I stamps the flowers around the edges so I could add a frame cut using a Spellbinders die.  The sentiment is called Love Your Love.  The flowers are coloured using Copics.
I am adding this one to the CASology Challenge; BLUE and to the challenge at Moxie Fab; make a card with a window.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Home is Where the Heart Is

Maculine Valentine cards.  You know the ones you give your hubbie, sons, no frills, no pink, not fussy....just more plain and simple.  This is what I came up with.
I hand cut a heart then stamped the scene from Serendipity onto it.  I kept it simple and mounted the heart with pop dots after stamping the sentiment along the side.  That's it.
I am adding this to the challenge at Serendipity Stamps....use a heart.

Simple Pleasures

Hope you are enjoying a great weekend.  Today, I am posting a very quick and easy card I made using my new Die-namics snowflake....it is so fun.  I took my Distress ink pad (Peacock Feathers) and applied it directly to my card front to make the swipe.  Love how it turned out.  I stamped the sentiment from Penny Black called
Softer and Kinder then pop dotted my snowflake on top.
I am adding my card to the challenge at Moxie Fab....Make Your Own Background Paper and to the challenge at CASology...Winter.
Take care and thanks so much for visiting.

Blocked in Blue

Welcome to the weekend.  I am playing along with the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast today.  I want to show you the pillow that inspired me:
Here is what I did to create my card.  I started by inking up my acrylic block with Distress inks, sprayed with water and then stamped the middle square. I masked that square then stamped around it using the same technique.
When it was dry, I added the hollyhocks and the sentiment embossed in white.
I am adding my card to the challenge at Moxie Fab...Make Your Own Background Paper and to the challenge at Addicted to CAS...Embossed.

Thank-you Note

I had a chance to play along with the CAS challenge at Splitcoast -postage.  I wanted to make a thank-you card for a wonderful birthday gift I received.
I used my Spellbinders postage die to cut my main piece.  I stamped the sentiment and the flowers from Penny Black with Memento black ink then sponged on Distress inks in blues leaving some of the white to highlight the sentiment.  I sprinkled on some water droplets and added the pearls.
I am also going to add this to the CAS-ual Fridays challenge...thank-you cards.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Embrace Winter

Good morning....hope you have all recovered from the Christmas rush and ringing in the New Year.
I have had such a busy week, so glad I had time to play along with a few of the challenges today.  I made this card by masking an oval, stamping the sleigh image from Serendipity Stamps, then sponged on Distress ink.  I coloured the sleigh using Copic markers, then added the piercing to define the scene.  The sentiment is from Penny Black.  By leaving the bkg. neutral, I think the sled really shines through.
I am playing along with the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast; Serendipity Winter Birthday challenge (made this for a friend's birthday coming up) and the CASology 'NEW' challenge (this is a new stamp I got just before Christmas).
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.  Have a great weekend.
