Pocket Treasures

Good Morning.  Today I am posting 2 Clean and Simple card I made that are being featured at
for Penny Black's newest releases called Pocket Treasures.
They have been created by the most talented Becky Fleck.
Some really great stamp sets and dies to play with.

The above card was created by using the newest die cut called Tabs and Toggles.  I cut a leftover piece of cardstock that I had used the Embossing Folder Stamping technique to create.  I stamped the woven piece behind the tag by inking up the Textures Stamp with Distress inks and spraying with water before stamping.  The colours blend so nicely together.  I added the banner and the heart to finish off my card.

This card was a quick and simple one.  I masked the center area and stamped the heart from the
Let's Chat set along the top and bottom of my card.  I coloured the hearts using Copic markers then removed the mask and scored my card front and added the hello from the same se

Distress Watercolouring

Hello.  Another day with no Blue!!  Can you believe it?
Well, honestly I am just using up an extra piece of watercolour paper that I had used to soak up all the excess green Distress ink leftover when making my last card.  I just kept adding more and more ink sprayed with water to the paper.  When I saw how lovely all the colours looked blended together, I decided to use the piece to make a card.
I stamped the flowers from Magenta onto white cs with Memento ink then added a thin black strip to separate the panels.  Wasn't sure where to add my sentiment so decided to cut it out and add it with pop dots near the top.  I love the fresh feel of the greens.

Ink, Spray and Go

Morning...so happy you dropped in.  I just love this sentiment....so true.  I hope you are having a 'smiling' kind of day.  As most of you already know, I love going to Splitcoast Stampers in the morning and checking out the challenges there.  I find them inspiring and they help to get my creative juices flowing.  This morning at the Inspiration Challenge I saw this cute little hexagon pot of cactus from the Leif Shop and I was off to make a card.

I haven't made a card using the Embossing Folder Stamping Technique for a few weeks, so when I saw hexagons I thought of my folder right away.  I used Distress inks again to ink the background.
When that was dry, I stamped the flowers from Magenta and Unity in black Memento ink.

Mix it Up

It's a sunny, bright day here today.  I felt like making an abstract card with a new stamp I got called 'Patio Stone'.  The challenge at Splitcoast this am is to make a card with lots of dots so I was off to make a card.
I began by making the rectangle shapes you can see in the background.  I made those by inking up my acrylic block with DYE ink and dripping Blending Solution onto the ink.  The Blending Solution pushes the ink so you get a resist looking background.  When that was dry, I stamped the circular Patio Stones with more Dye ink.  Added the sentiment and I was done.  I think this would make a good card for a guy's birthday.

Also adding my card to these challenges:

Hope you can enjoy some sunny skies in your part of the world today.  I so appreciate you coming by and taking a look and for all the most kind and generous comments you leave for me.

Vacation Time

Summer is here and vacation time is here so many of us have the beach on the brain.  Fresh air, blue skies, the sound of the water....relax.  Doesn't get much better then that.
I created my card for the CAS Challenge at Splitcoast.  It was a 'Day at the Beach' theme.  I thought of my Gina K set right away.  I created the blue sky and the brown sand by inking up my long, rectangle shaped acrylic block with Distress inks, sprayed with water and stamped.  Really easy and quick to do.  When dry, I stamped the pier with black Memento ink and mounted that scene onto a piece of black cardstock to accentuate the black silhouette.
The background was done by inking my Hero Arts stamp with Distress inks, sprayed with water then stamped.  I like the watery look it gave to the chevron stamping and a good backdrop to mount the image onto.

Singing in the Rain

Welcome and thanks for peeking in.  Today's card was inspired by the challenge at Splitcoast yesterday.  I wanted to get a chance to play with my new die so set off to make a card.

I began by creating the blue panel with Distress inks.  I rubbed Salty Ocean, Peacock Feather and Broken China Distress inks onto my acrylic block, sprayed with water and stamped onto my cardstock.  I just kept inking and stamping until all the white areas were covered.  Love the watery feel and the drips look like drops of rain.
I popped the die cut on top of that and lined the panel with a black strip then added the sentiment.

English Garden

Morning.  I am playing with my new hollyhock die again, Distress and Memento ink.  The challenge at Splitcoast got my imagination going.
I began by stamping the gate (which I have had forever made by Stampers Anonymous) in grey Memento ink.  I wanted it to appear like it was in the background and not overpowering my hollyhocks.  Next, I took a piece of watercolour paper and pulled it through wet Distress inks that I had rubbed on my non-stick craft sheet and sprayed with water.  By spraying the Distress inks, the colours blend and when dry, you can always add more ink to build up the colour you want.  When that was dry, I die cut my flowers and glued them to my card front.
The twine is really blue but for some reason, my camera would not catch the colour...ggrrrrr.
Lastly, I stamped the sentiment from Mama Elephant.

Let the Sun Shine In

Good Morning.  It is a glorious, sunny and bright day here.  Good day for a sunny and bright challenge at Splitcoast today plus I just got this new sentiment stamp set by Technique Tuesday.

I started by using the stencil from Tim Holtz called Burlap.  I sponged Mustard Seed Distress ink over that.  Next, I stenciled over that background with the Tim Holtz Rays stencil using more Distress inks.  (Mustard Seed, Squeezed Lemonade, Ripe Persimmon, Fired Brick)
The motion of the rays is done by rubbing the ink over the stencil then moving the stencil slightly each time as you repeat the inking.  I love the sunny and bright feel of this card.

Little Red Wagon- Vacation

Wildflowers

It's Sunday morining and I am playing with inks again and the challenge at Splitcoast. This background technique is a very easy one but the results are wonderful especially if you like stamping directly over patterns or backgrounds.
I began by inking up my large acrylic block with DYE INK and dripped Blending Solution over the ink.  (I tried using different inks but the dye ink is the only one that will react properly with the Blending Solution)  When you drip the solution onto the ink, it pushes the colour away and you are left with areas that are white with the colour all around.
When it was dry, I stamped the flowers from Unity and the sentiment from Penny Black called Growing Free and added the black pearls to the base of the flowers.  The whole panel was then mounted to the card front using pop dots.  I love these colours together.

Reach for the Sky

Good morning.  It's Saturday so that means it is time for the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast.  I find that challenge to be really wonderful for getting my creative juices flowing!
To see the post from The Perfect Palette that inspired me go here:

I wanted the background to have a mottled, soft look so I began by rubbing Memento markers in purple and pink tones over my Hero Arts stamp, sprayed with water and stamped.
The flowers were made by rubbing Distress Ink (Picked Raspberry, Seedless Preserves, Barn Door)
onto my non-stick craft sheet.  I sprayed with water to blend the colours and dragged my paper through the wet ink.  When it was dry, I die cut the flowers (from Impression Obsession)....love them!  The sentiment is by Mama Elephant.
When the card front was finished, I mounted it onto a white card front but it needed something so I inked my long acrylic block with Distress inks again, sprayed with water and pressed onto my card front.  You can see that around the outside edges.  I think it brought the colours on the card to life.

Great Day

Happy Friday.  I love this card and how it turned out.  It is fun to get messy sometimes.
This morning at Splitcoast the challenge was to finger paint.  I was in.
I got out my blue Distress inks, of course and started creating circles with my finger.  I added some white acrylic paint circles over the blue ones for interest and to add depth.  When it was all dry, I took a paper tube roll, a marker lid and the paint bottle lid and stamped the circles in black paint adding some splatters as I went.  I mounted the panel with pop dots onto my card front then added the Penny Black sentiment called ...this day

What's Bugging You?

Good Morning.  Here is today's card.  A simple one using three different textures as I am playing along with the Tantalizing Textures Challenge at Splitcoast
I stamped this cute little guy onto polka dot paper then cut him out to add to my card front.  He needed to be grounded somehow so I stamped the background 'bubble wrap' behind him and embossed it with clear powder for texture.  I stamped the sentiment and then added the twine for a quick CAS card.
My three textures are Glossy Accents on the bug's nose, twine and the embossing.

Such an Honor

Today I feel as though I have been showered with kindness and friendship.  When I got up this am, I was off to look at the CAS Challenge at Splitcoast.  Imagine my surprise when the challenge was about casing my cards and I was the Featured Stamper.  Wow...such a huge honor !!
Thanks so much to all the special people at SCS...I appreciate it so much.
So onto today's card.  I cased myself and this card:

I masked off the panel then stamped the Penny Black stamp called Footnote inside the masked panel.  I inked my stamp with Distress inks, (Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers and Faded Jeans), sprayed with water to give a water colour effect and stamped.  When it was dry, I sponged on some more ink and added some splatters.
After removing the masks, I scored then pierced the edge.
My sentiment is from Penny Black called Friendship.  I inked it up with Memento black, stamped then cut the banner shape.  I pierced the edges to match the side strip and mounted it using pop dots.

Garden Tag

Morning.  I think one of my most inspiring places just has to be out in the garden.  The colours, textures and beauty just make me want to make a card.  I also find so much inspiration at Splicoast Stampers as you know and the challenge today got my creative juices flowing.
I began by cutting a tag using a tag die from My Favourite Things.  I inked up the flower stamp from the Stampin Up set called Spring Garden by colouring on the stamp with Memento markers.  I then sprayed with water and stamped.  While the tag dried, I stamped the sentiment....it is an oldie but still one of my favs.  I added the twine to the tag then sewed it onto my card front.

I am also adding my card to these challenges:

Colours of the Flag

Happy Saturday morning.  Phew...it has been such a busy week and I have had no mojo or time to play.  It is such a good time to feel patriotic this week for our great country of Canada so I wanted to make a card that was 'red' based.
I was happy to see the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast where I found these adorable button flowers and got my creative juices flowing:
I wanted to keep my card pretty simple and clean and did so by masking off the top area of my card first. I inked the Patio Stone stamp using Distress inks in reds- Barn Door, Fired Brick and Worn Lipstick, sprayed with water and randomly stamped. I then removed the mask and stamped the sentiment and added the black lines to define the area.
I am also adding my card to these challenges:

OLS #7- WAVE THE FLAG

Whether you are still celebrating Canada Day or Fourth of July for my American friends I hope you have a great weekend.  Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
