It's Sunday morning here...beautiful, sunny and warm and feeling inspired to make a card after seeing the challenge at Splitcoast this am. I thought of butterflies for my card as we have been seeing so many at this time of the year. There is something just magical about seeing a butterfly.
I felt the need to play with inks and decided to try a technique I saw mentioned somewhere.
I took a piece of watercolour paper, sprayed it with water then dripped drops of oil onto the paper. I then took my Distress re-inkers (colours below) and dripped some of that saturated colour on top of the oily paper. Since oil and water don't mix, I ended up with this unique and pretty background.
I cut a frame using a square Spellbinders die and mounted the inked piece behind.
The butterfly from Hero Arts was stamped, coloured with Copics and then pop dotted onto my card front looking like it is ready to fly off the page. It is hard to see in the photo, but the body of the butterfly has black pearls lining it.
I am also adding my card to these challenges:
Simon Says- ANYTHING GOES
CASology- FLUTTER
Addicted to Stamps- CAS
A Gem of a Challenge- CLEAN and SIMPLE
Sister Act- ANYTHING GOES
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
