Pink Watercolour

Happy Saturday!

First, let my begin by saying a most grateful THANK-YOU for all the emails and well wishes you sent to me.  They were most appreciated as I tried to get well from a very NASTY! infection and cough.  So happy to be able to feel productive again and play with my stamps. {smiling}

My creative juices got flowing this morning after I saw the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast.  I saw this beautiful candle package and I thought of my Rubbernecker stamps.

I began by masking my watercolour paper then grabbed my stamps.  This stamp from Rubbernecker is a 2-step stamp so first, I inked the stems and flower centers with black Memento ink and stamped.
For the second part which is the flower petals, I coloured my stamp with Memento markers, sprayed with water and stamped onto my slightly wet watercolour paper.  By using the markers you can add variations of colour right where you want it to be.  The water just helps them all blend together well.

HINT:  If you don't own Memento markers try using Crayola markers....your kids most likely have     some of these kicking around the house.  I have used them when I didn't have the right colour or one of my Mementos had dried up.  Since they are water-based you can still achieve the same effect.

Lastly, I stamped the sentiment from Technique Tuesday to finish off my card.

Also adding my card to these challenges:

CAS-ual Fridays- MUST LOVE WATERCOLOUR

CASology- BIRTHDAY

Thanks again so very much for your continued support and for all your most kind comments and emails.  I do so appreciate it!!
Have a great weekend and stay healthy!

Thanks Snow Much

I love sentiment stamps so when I saw this challenge at Splitcoast this a.m. I was in.
The challenge is called 'Use Your Words'...make the sentiment the focal point of our card.  It gave me a chance to play with my new stamp set from Simon Says.

I used the same stencil as yesterday but in a different way.
Instead of laying the stencil on the paper and rubbing ink over it, I rubbed Salty Ocean, Shaded Lilac and Peacock Feathers Distress ink directly on the back of the stencil, sprayed with water and then pressed that onto my white cardstock.  It gives a totally different look then applying ink in the usual way.  More of a blurred look with patches of ink.
When dry, I stamped the sentiment and the snowflakes.

I am adding my card to these challenges:

Kindness Blooms

Happy Sunday Morning.

I am back playing with my blue Distress inks and I just got some new 'toys' to play with so I wanted to make a card using them.  I got a new stencil from Simon Says...it reminds me of a cozy, warm blanket you could wrap up in.  I laid my stencil down on the white cardstock then applied Salty Ocean and Peacock Feather Distress inks over the paper.  To soften the look, I sprayed the ink with water.

I wanted the flowers to have a watercoloured look so I coloured them with Memento markers, sprayed with water and stamped down the side of my card front.  Love how the water blends the colours together and it is such an EASY way to achieve that look.
Stamped the sentiment from Simon Says with black Memento ink and done.

TIP:  I wanted to mount my stamped piece onto a blue card front but didn't have any paper the right colour.  To solve that problem, I inked the edges of the white card with my Peacock
Feather Distress ink.  Worked great and there is less bulk for mailing as well.

New Day

Baby, It's Cold Outside!
That's the theme of the challenge this a.m. over at Splitcoast that inspired my card.
The challenge also asked us to make a background with Distress inks and salt so I was in!

I began making the background by rubbing Peacock Feathers and Dusty Concord Distress inks onto my non-stick craft sheet, sprayed with water and then dragged my paper through the wet ink.  I immediately sprinkled on some coarse Sea Salt over my paper and set it aside to dry.  The salt soaks up the ink and you are left with a beautiful, mottled background.
When dry, I brushed off the salt then stamped the Etched Branches from Penny Black around the edges of the inked piece.  I then stamped the sentiment called ...this day to finish off my card.

All You

 Clean and Simple....meet today's card.
I am playing along with the CAS challenge at Splitcoast this morning; make a monochromatic card.
So of course, blue came to mind immediately.

I stencilled the corner using Peacock Feathers Distress ink being sure to saturate the edge with more colour and fade out as I got closer to the top.  I stamped the flowers from PTI and the sentiment from Daisy Bucket using black Memento ink.

The card needed something at the top.  I added a strip of washi tape and tied the twine on top of that.  I like how it all worked together.  I rounded the bottom edges and mounted that onto my card.

I am adding my card to these challenges:

Simon Says- ANYTHING GOES

Virginia's View- CLEAN SLATE

That Craft Place- MONOCHROMATIC

Hope you are keeping warm and toasty.  We finally have snow but the temps are freezing.

A New Year!

Welcome to 2015!
I am getting back into the groove of making cards again and needed a Happy New Year card.
I like how this turned out although the camera can't do the silver embossing powder justice.  Very hard to capture the true shine on film.  Good, easy card to mail as well.

I began by stamping the outside edges.  First, I ran the edges of my card front against my Versamark pad and heat embossed it with silver powder.  Next, I stamped the edges with a Grunge stamp from Kaiser around the edges.
I wanted the card to be a celebration so I randomly stamped the stars from Impression Obsession around the edges but it needed more so I took my pencil eraser and created the dots to look like confetti.  Again, all were stamped with Versamark and embossed with silver powder.
Last, I stamped the sentiment from Paper Smooches in the center.

Adding my card to these challenges:

Little Red Wagon- HAPPY NEW YEAR

Simon Says- ANYTHING GOES

Virginia's View- CLEAN SLATE

Card Mania- MAKE IT SPARKLE

Sisters of Craft- ANYTHING GOES

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Watercolouring Challenge at Happy Little Stampers

Morning.  I hope you have enjoyed a wonderful Christmas.  I had some time off to spend with family and friends that was great.  It is such a busy time of year and it is nice just to take time to stop and actually enjoy it!

Do you love the look of watercolouring as much as I do?  There are so many different ways to add the look of watercolouring to your cards and here is just one of them.

My dear friend Loll Thompson, asked me to be the Guest Designer and play along with the

http://www.forum.happylittlestampers.com/viewforum.php?f=75

I created my card by inking the inside of an embossing folder with Peeled Paint and Shabby Shutters Distress ink, sprayed with water and pressed my paper into the wet ink.  Embossing folder stamping is such an easy technique with great results.
Next, I stamped a script on the far left hand side of my card front to help anchor the flowers and to add the look of texture behind them.  Then, I inked up the flowers from Unity with Black Memento ink and  stamped the sentiment from Rubbernecker.

Live, Laugh, Love.....great motto to live by for the New Year!

I hope I have inspired today, to get out some stamps and ink and play along with our fun challenge.
