Favourite Flower- The Flower Challenge

Hello and welcome to a new month an a new challenge at

This month, we are stamping with our Favourite Flowers.
We are also welcoming our talented Guest Designer
Therese Calvird from Lost in Paper.

We have another PRIZE to give away to our lucky winner again this month. The lovely Michelle from Clearly Besotted is sponsoring us and giving away an e-gift card worth £20.
Michelle has some gorgeous stamps/die/stencils, do check out her website/blog if you haven't already.

Well, I have to admit, I love so many flowers and I do enjoy gardening so it was hard for me to narrow down which one I was going to use on my card!!
I remembered some of the first stamps I got when I started to get into stamping so I pulled them out.
I have always loved hollyhocks but sadly can't grow them in my garden.  I tried a few times but was unsuccessful as we have so much clay soil here where I live.  They really struggle and don't do well in my soil.
Anyways......I haven't done a collage style card in awhile so decided that today was the day.
I placed an acrylic mask from A Colorful Life Designs onto my white cardstock and placed it into my Misti.  I pulled out a variety of stamps and my Distress inks and stamped away, creating the collage background.
I sponged the edges then stamped the hollyhocks and the sentiment.
I removed the mask and scored a line around the clean white edges to help define the inked area using my ScorPal.
I simple mounted the piece on a white card base.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

You make such cool backgrounds Karen. I love the mix of colors. I too love Hollyhocks. They grow wild along the roadside around here. The black silhouette and sentiment really stand out from the background. The variety of yellows/oranges looks awesome.
