Happy Friday. So glad I had time to play along with the Free for All challenge at Splitcoast today; lots of dots. If you have never stamped with water and Distress inks before, you should try it out. You can get such interesting effects and you know how much I love to play.
I began by inking a piece of white cardstock with blue and green Distress inks. I then laid a mask over the top and sponged water over it. It left such an interesting bkg. For my main panel, I sponged green ink onto a piece of white cardstock then stamped with a large bkg. stamp from Penny Black that was dipped into water. When it was all dry, I stamped the fronds and sentiment in black.
Thanks so very much for coming by and taking a look.
Supplies: stamps; Penny Black/ Distress inks/ Memento black/ pop dots/ Mr Huey mask/ bl. pearls
This is a beautiful card! I now know what to do with my elusive fern stamp. Your choice of background stamp was just perfect too.
ReplyDeleteI don't have that P.B. fern stamp but one similar. I do have the friends stamp and love that sentiment. You made a really pretty card with those colors!!!
ReplyDeleteA.MAZ.ING!!!! Love this!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning. I have to try this. Such beautiful cool colors on a blisteringly hot day. TFS & explaining how you created the background. Becoming your newest follower.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I have the fern stamp and a doily stamp that would probably work. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of mask? How did the water get thru?
ReplyDeleteGorgeous background Karen, the colours are fantastic. I love how you created your top layer too and the sentiment is perfect :) Cathy x
ReplyDeleteOMG, this is just gorgeous ~ love your background!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing this technique. I will definitely try it. Another thing that I have used that gives good results is if you sponge a background as you did with distress inks, then ink up a stamp with versamark, spray it with water and then stamp it. It also gives really nice although similar results.
ReplyDeleteI love your pretty card and the technique. I really need to try this. Stamping the image in black really makes it stand out against the background. I love playing with distress inks. TFS
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card, Karen! That background is awesome and the black fronds and pearls give it such elegance!
