Layered Background Sympathy


Good Morning.  I like to have some sympathy cards on hand and ready to be sent if needed.  I like them to be simple and uncluttered.  This card was a result of playing with Distress inks and stenciling and the little jacket pictured below as inspiration.
I began making my card by rubbing Faded Jeans, Salty Ocean and Broken China Distress inks onto my white cardstock with a blending tool.  Next, I sprayed water on my piece to blend the colours.  When that was dry, I laid pieces of drywall tape over the top of my inked piece and rubbed on some more of the background colours.  I was happy with the way it looks, great way to created depth.  Final step was to stamp the branch and the sentiment which I embossed.

    Oh, how absolutely rich and beautiful, Karen! I LOVE the colors - our faves - and your background is amazing! So rich with the black on the blue and then the black matting...so striking, sweet friend!! Hugs!

    Great interpretation of your inspiration piece! Nice card, Karen! I've made a few sketches for that challenge but haven't gotten to making the card(s) as yet. Eventually, I hope to. :)

    Gorgeous! This is a perfect sympathy card, although I hope you don't have to send it :) I have a piece of skrim (drywall tape) sitting on my desk as we speak and I keep meaning to use it - seeing this beautiful outcome I'm going to have to pull my finger out! :)
