Wonderful World

Happy Saturday.  It's Inspiration Challenge time at Splitcoast and today, we are being inspired by the Pinterest board from Beka Castillo.
Here is the photo that inspired my card:

I love the look of the Zentangle cards.  This is a wonderful card using a stamp from Serendipity Stamps.  Easy card...stamped the background using black Memento ink then coloured portions of the image with shades of blue Copic markers.
I cut out a circle in the center of the card then pop-dotted another circle with the sentiment stamped on it over the that.  Don't you just love that sentiment!

Think Spring

I don't know about you, but I could really use a little SPRING right about now.
The challenge at Splitcoast was to 'Think Spring'.  When I think Spring, I think of tulips and blue skies, so here is what I came up with.

I cut a piece of cardstock and started stamping these beautiful tulips from Serendipity Stamps with black Memento ink along the bottom edge of the paper.
Next, I got out my Distress inks, pressed them onto my acrylic block and used them to do a loose watercolour on the flowers and the background.
When dry, I mounted it to my card front with pop dots then stamped the sentiment from Penny Black.

Folded Hug

Morning.  A simple card today with a fun technique I hope you will get a chance to try.  You know all those little stamps that sit in the drawer because you don't know what to do with them?
Well, I have a great idea for you today.....stamping over a stencil.

Here is what I did.  I placed my stencil from Gourmet Stamps over my paper, masked the edges and using a variety of little stamps randomly picked from my stamping drawers, I stamped away using Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean Distress inks.  I then went back in and inked gently over the stencil to define the areas ever more.  By stamping first, it gives a wonderful depth that could not be achieved by inking alone.
I then went back in and stamped the flowers using black Memento ink.  I love this little sentiment from the Stampin Place; stamped it in black as well.

Favourite Technique

Happy Friday!!
Meet today's card.  The challenge at Splitcoast this am is to use one of their many great tutorials as inspiration for our cards.  Well, as most of you already know, one of my favourite tutorials is the technique called
So easy, so fun and such interesting results every time.

So here is what I did.  I began by inking the inside of my embossing folder with Seedless Preserves, Dusty Concord and Peeled Paint Distress inks, sprayed with water and pressed my paper into the wet ink.  I love using the Distress inks as they blend with water better then any other ink I have used.
When dry, I inked my Hill Flowers from Penny Black with Memento ink and stamped to the side.
Next, I stamped the sentiment from Penny Black called Softer and Kinder.
To help pull it all together, I added drew in a blackline border.

Sweet Love

Morning.  Meet a sweet new image from Penny Black.  Aren't they so adorable?
These cuties are from the new set called Furry Affection.

I began by stamping my background from Penny Black called Circular Design using Spun Sugar Distress ink.  I used a Spellbinder circle die to cut the circle in the center.
Next, I stamped the mice, coloured them using Copic markers and cut them out so I could pop dot them  into the cut away circle.  They looked a bit lost in that much white open area of the circle so I added a smaller circle behind them to ground the image.  Added the sentiment and done.

Heartfelt

Happy Saturday.
This morning at Splitcoast, we are being inspired by the beautiful photography from the
Crystal Gayle Studio on Etsy.
Here is the photo that inspired my card:

I again used my embossing folder to create the background using green Distress inks.
To see how go here:

When my background was dry, I inked the wheat stamp from Hero Arts with black Memento ink and stamped to the side.  Did the same with the sentiment from Rubbernecker.
Easy and quick card...love that sentiment.

Sending you a hug for a Happy Valentine's Day.

Silhouette

Morning.  We all own some embossing folders that either sit in a drawer or don't get used that much.  Time for mine to get some more use with the
Embossing Folder Stamping Technique.

I began by masking my white cardstock then rubbed Salty Ocean Distress ink onto the front part of my Embossing Folder, sprayed with water and pressed my paper into the wet ink.
Leaving the mask in place and letting the paper dry, I stamped the flowers from Purple Onion with black Memento ink.  I then removed the mask and added the doodled border.   I like the way the border adds a touch to whimsy to the card.  I stamped the sentiment....just a dollar bin find at my local Michaels store.  I then mounted that onto another piece of white cardstock.
For the card front I inked up a stamp from Penny Black called
Chalkboard Grateful
with Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers Distress inks and sprayed with a generous amount of water before stamping on an angle to cover my card.  That's it.

Fresh and Clean

Good Morning.  Today's card has a very fresh and clean look to it.  I kept it very simple and monochromatic in style.

I began by using the Embossing Folder Stamping Technique for the background.  It is very easy and fun to play around with.  I inked the inside of my embossing folder with Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers Distress inks, sprayed with water then pressed my paper into the wet ink.
When dry, I stamped my flowers and sentiment with black Memento ink.
Easy, right?

Water Washed

Where does the weekend go?  As most of you know, I love the look of watercolour.  Love the blur of the lines and the open, airy feel it gives to an image.  This week, the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast was from the wonderfully done watercolour paintings by Kanta Harusaki.  Here is the painting and it's colours that inspired my card:

I began by colouring my flower stamp from Unity with Memento markers.  I sprayed my watercolour paper then my stamp and pressed it onto the paper.  I repeated that process until I was happy with the look.  To re-create the look of the water washing up on the rocks, I did a very loose watercolour wash.
Isn't that sentiment just the best!  I won that one from the Stampin Place.

STAMPlorations - Stamps and Hearts

Happy Friday.
Valentine's Day is quickly approaching and I want to get a few cards made so when Shery from STAMPlorations asked me to be the Guest Designer I was in.

http://stamplorations.auctivacommerce.com/Default.aspx

This month the theme of the challenge is:
http://stamplorations.blogspot.ca/search/label/monthly%20challenge

So, I began by masking then stamping  the bottom of my card front using the Subway Art Builders: Create stamp using grey Memento ink.  I scored a line about the masked area using my Scor-bug then cut the panel for interest.
I created the heart by rubbing Picked Raspberry and Barn Door Distress inks onto my non-stick craft sheet, sprayed with water and dragged my paper through the wet ink.  I free hand cut the heart then doodled a border around the edge.  I stamped the sentiment from Penny Black then mounted the panels with pop dots.  I added the twine to finish off my card.

Pass the Salt Please

Morning.  Today I am being inspired by the challenge at Splitcoast called "From the Kitchen".  For this challenge we are asked to make a card using something from the kitchen.   I decided to make a background using ink and salt.

I began by masking the edges of my card front and painted on Distress inks.
(Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers, Seedless Preserves)
I made sure the paper was wet then I sprinkled on some Sea Salt and let it dry.  I found that using Sea Salt worked better then using regular Table Salt as it has a much more coarse texture and lifts more colour off the paper.
When dry I stamped the flowers from Stampendous using Stazon Black ink.  I stamped the sentiment and embossed it in white but it looked a bit lost so using my stamp positioner, I stamped the sentiment again with the Black Stazon ink.

Valentine Mail

Morning.  As I turned the calendar to February, it made me think of hearts and Valentine's Day.  I remembered seeing this cute design somewhere in blogland so grabbed the newly released Penny Black set called POSTED WITH LOVE.
Such a cute and fun set to play with.

I began by cutting my paper on the angle then stamped my images.  I mounted that onto a piece of red DP with pop dots.  I stamped the little red heart on the same DP and pop dot mounted it over the 'Air Mail' stamped image.

Beautiful Blues

Well, it was just a matter of time before I had to get my blue Distress inks out and play with them again and here is what I came up with.

This month at One-Layer Simplicity Challenge our theme is
YOU BLEND

I blended with my blending tool, water and my markers.
I began by masking the edges of my card so I could stencil the background of my card using Salty Ocean Distress ink. It sort of reminds me of a trellis in the garden. I also splattered some water over to add some depth to the background.
Next, I took my stamp from Rubbernecker and coloured on it with my Memento markers, sprayed with water and stamped.  By spraying with water it blends the colours together and gives a wonderful watercoloured look.  I stamped the sentiment from Mama Elephant using black Memento ink.
As I removed the border masks, I got a blue mark on the white cardstock that I couldn't rub out.  My solution to my mistake was to sponge the edges with Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers Distress inks and again, I splattered with water.  I like the look of the border and how it turned out so my mistake was turned into a positive.
