It's Saturday of our long Thanksgiving Weekend here in Canada.
I am feeling very thankful and I needed to play.
I am so excited to share my card with you as I tried out a 'new to me' technique called Alcohol Ink Floating for my background. So fun and so easy and I just used my regular heavy weight cardstock to do it. My friend Loll Thompson sparkled my curiosity when I read her blog.

My inspiration began today when I saw the challenge at Splitcoast and this beautiful photo from a Pinterest board:
If you watch the video, you will see exactly what I did using Ranger Alcohol inks.
The hardest part is being patient while waiting for it to dry. I let it dry a bit then I like to press it in a book so it will dry flat. I found this technique so exciting because you never know what you will get after you remove your paper from the water bath.
So, when it was all dry, I grabbed my MISTI and stamped the flowers from Magenta and the sentiment from My Favorite Things using black Memento ink. It needed something more, so I stamped the script from Penny Black, randomly in the background using Grey Memento ink. I was much happier with the illusion of depth it added. Lastly, I inked the edges with Versamark and embossed with white.

Beautiful, as always Karen. I saw that post too, and played - I made about 6 and left them to dry while I went out this morning. They look yummie - love fun stuff like that eh! Now to make a card.

ReplyDeleteThis is really pretty! I need to check out this technique. I have a few bottles of alcohol ink that I'd gotten when I was making mixed media canvases, just to splash on and make dots, but I haven't tried any other techniques with them. TFS

ReplyDeleteNice card, Karen! The marbling tech looks good on it. :) I tried this once but didn't have alcohol inks so used my SU refills. You can probably imagine the mess I made. Hee. Have a nice rest-of-a-long Thanksgiving weekend!
