Morning.
Do you remember your first stamp set?
Well today, I am showing you one of the first ones I ever bought and still love it to this day. There is something about those free flowing flower I just love.
I began by masking my card stock with Painter's Tape. I placed the flower stamp inside my MISTI then coloured it using Memento markers, sprayed with water and stamped. I started with a light blue and then added darker shades as I repeated that process. I did the same thing for the flower centers.
Next, I stamped in the sentiment with black Memento ink...it's a real old one I bought years ago.
I watercolored around the flowers using Peacock Feathers Distress ink and water and then rubbed on more over my card front with an applicator tool.
I splattered on water to lift some of the colour and to add some more depth and interest.

ReplyDeleteThat is one of my favourite quotes, Karen! Beautiful flowers to go with it!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully done Karen in your trademark blue - those flowers are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOh my Karen, after seeing how you modernized this old SU set, I wish I had kept my set. I gave to our DD when she started stamping about 10 years ago. I had used so much I thought it needed new creativity! TFS mf.
ReplyDeleteWatercoloring around a stamped image is not always easy. What a beautiful wash you created on your background and I just love the water stamping of your blossoms! This is gorgeous, Karen!
ReplyDeleteThese definitely are happy flowers, Karen! I see why this is a favorite stamp! Love all the varying shades of blue with that bit of yellow!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! It is so great to use older stamps too!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Magic Karen!
ReplyDeleteSo lovely, Karen, but how do you watercolor around the flowers without having them bleed? I'm sure you'll probably say "Very carefully." ;)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! I can see why you've held onto this stamp all these years. It's a keeper.

Karen, this is gorgeous, and your flowers just POP so beautifully with your sponging and then misting the background! It's amazing what YOU can do with an older stamp set like this one! It's one of the reasons I am hesitant to get rid of some of my favorites! Hugs, mf!
