Totebag for Cardgiving

 Morning.
Just popping in with a simple totebag I made for giving some of my cards as a gift.
It is the first one I have made and I found it easy to do and can hold at least 15 cards.
You could also use it to put in other gifts or goodies.
It was a good use of the DP paper that I have hoarded and am going to try and use.  Maybe that should be my New Years Resolution??!!

Anyways, here it is and I hope you enjoy.
This is a link to the video that I watched:

Happy New Year

Meet today's card.
I hope you enjoyed a wonderful Christmas.
With the New Year almost here, I created a quick and easy card.

I began by using the snowflake stencil from SSS and rubbed Tumbled Glass Distress ink over the top.
To add some more depth and interest, I left the stencil in place and using various sized circle stamps, I stamped over it using darker shades of Distress inks.
I splattered on some acrylic paint, more blue ink and lastly some water to lift a bit of the colour.
I stamped the sentiment from Paper Smooches in the bottom corner.
To add to the festive, celebration theme, I applied some shiny Nuvo Drops over some of the small circles.

It's Christmas Eve and what better time to make a starry night sky.
Very simple, last minute card to tuck inside a present.

I used a leftover piece of Brusho inked paper and splattered on some white acrylic paint to look like snow.  I then pop dotted the little village scene die cut from Your Next Stamp over the inked background and stamped the sentiment from MFT.

Pray for Peace

 Simple, peaceful, serene.
Meet today's card.

This Christmas I think we are all praying for peace in these unsettled times.
I tried to create a card that depicted 'Peace'.

I had a piece of leftover paper that I inked with Brushos in my stash, so decided to use it as my backdrop.
I die-cut the little village then the snow and the deer and layered them over the blue background.  I splattered on some acrylic paint to look like snow then framed it all up.

Country Christmas Wishes

 Morning.
 Meet today's card.
I really like 'scene' Christmas cards that remind us all of being home for the holiday.  I also love this stamp that I have owned for many years by Serendipity and I like to try and use it on a card every year.

I began by stamping the image with Memento black ink.  I coloured the image using Copic markers then cut it down so it would fit inside the scored border area.  I added some red paper to the back of the image and the card front border to help make it all pop.
The sentiment is a old one from Stampin Up.

Textured Snowflake

Happy Saturday!

I bought the Tim Holtz embossing folder this year and wanted to see what it would look like if I inked it up.  So, I inked it up with Memento red ink and ran it through my Cuttlebug to transfer the ink.
There were a few places that I touched up with more of the red ink but I love the design it left behind.
Then....what to do with the inked piece?

Well, I had a negative snowflake piece on my desk and decided to see what it would look like over the embossed, inked piece.  The red showed through beautifully and my card was born.
Cut out the card front using a stitched die and stamped the sentiment from Kaisercraft then added a red pearl in the center.
The red and white is so festive I think.

CAS Watercolour Challenge- Reminder

Time is flying by and it is time for another card for the

Our theme this month is Watercolour Resist.

I began by placing the snowflake stamp from Hero Arts into my MISTI, stamped with Versamark ink and then white heat embossed.  By doing that, I created a resist to paint over.
Next, I used Brushos to watercolour the background.  To add further interest and texture to the background, I press some drywall tape onto my Colorbox white stamp pad and pressed it on areas of the painted background.
I die-cut the sentiment from STAMPlorations and added the blue gems to the snowflakes.

Sleigh Ride

 Morning.
With Christmas music all around us, often a song will come on the radio that reminds us of our childhood.  For me it's 'Sleigh Ride'.
So here is my card inspired by that song and I wanted to get a chance to use this adorable little bunny from Lawn Fawn on one of my holiday cards too.

I began by placing the sentiment from Paper Smooches into my MISTI and inked it with Memento ink.  I repeat stamped it across my card front on an angle for interest.
I scored a border on the top and bottom of my stamped area using my ScorBug.
I stamped that bunny then colored him with Copic markers and fussy cut out.  I pop dotted him over my bkg. for a fun card.

Happy New Year!

 Good Morning.

As the New Year approaches so quickly, I decided to make a card that could be used for Christmas or for the New Year.  Just a fun collage style card using stamps from Kaisercraft and PTI.

I began by stamping the collage using Versamark ink and used some shiny silver embossing powder to help depict the look of fireworks, sparkle and shine.  It doesn't show as well in the photo but is really lovely IRL.  The stamps are a combination of stamps from a grunge set by PTI and a collage style stamp from Kaisercraft.
To continue with that theme, I die-cut a star from shiny red paper and backed the piece with more of the same shiny red then finally added a gem to the center of the star.
The sentiment is from Penny Black.

Home for Christmas

Home for Christmas.
I think that's what we all want for the holidays.

Another simple card today using an embossed background using a Sizzix Embossing Folder.
TIP:  to get a deep impression when embossing, lightly spray the paper with water before running it through your machine.

I stamped this wonderful postcard image from Impression Obsession and cut it down using a circle die.  It is a very large stamp and I wanted to highlight just the house part of the image.
I stamped the sentiment from Hero Arts and pop dotted the scene over the snowflake bkg.

Under the Mistletoe

Morning.
As Christmas is so quickly approaching, it is great to have a simple, fun design on hand to create a few of those last minute cards. So meet today's card which is just that.

I began by masking off the area on my card front with Painter's tape then sponged Mowed Lawn and Forest Moss in the masked area being sure to concentrate more colour at the bottom of the taped area.

I stamped the mistletoe from Eureka stamps, coloured with Copic markers then added some Nuvo drops to the berries to make them shine.
I die-cut the sentiment from Stamplorations twice, glued it together for stability and added it to the dark shaded area so it would pop.
Easy right?

The Flower Challenge Reminder

 Morning.

We are half way through December and it's time for another card for The Flower Challenge.
This month our challenge is to use an older stamp, stencil or die.

I am using my older stamp from Unity again today to create this anniversary card.
I began by creating the background using the Embossing Folder Inking Technique.  I rubbed Distress inks over the front part of my embossing folder, sprayed with water and pressed my paper onto the folder.  It is a great way to get more mileage from something you already have in your stash too!

I placed the flower stamp from Unity inside my Misti and stamped with black Memento ink then stamped the sentiment from Rubber Stampede and done.

Down the Chimney

'Up on the housetop,
Click, click, click,
Down through the chimney,
It's old St. Nick!

I love Christmas songs and so many are stuck in my head right now.
I wanted to use this cute Santa stamp I got last year but never got a chance to use.

Using my Misti, I stamped Santa from Eureka stamps onto a piece of heavy white cardstock then coloured him using pencil crayons and Gamasol.  The Gamasol helps to blend out the colour of the pencil giving a nice, finished look.
I fussy cut him out and applied some clear Nuvo to his nose to make it shine.
I added some Marvvy Snow maker to his beard, hat and coat and applied heat to make it puff up.
It gave the areas such great texture and interest.

Using my Misti again, I stamped the newsprint background using a stamp I got years and years ago with no name on it.
I pop dotted Santa over the text.

The Flower Challenge- Older Stamp, Die or Stencil

 Morning.
Are you ready for another fun challenge?
Get ready to pull out some older stamps, dies or stencils and create a card.  You know you have lots of older things in your stash that need some love, right?

http://theflowerchallenge.blogspot.ca/

I decided to use the flowers from an older set by Unity Stamps.
I placed the stamp inside my MISTI, inked with Peeled Paint Distress ink and stamped onto my paper.  To darken some of the flowers, I re-inked and stamped again while I left others as a single stamping to give a lighter shade of the colour.
Using the Text Stamp from Penny Black, I inked it up with Versamark, stamped and white heat embossed randomly across my card front.
Next, I watercolored the background using some Mowed Lawn Distress ink that was diluted with water.  I also stenciled a bit with the same ink to add some more interest with the piece of drywall tape that always seems to be sitting on my work space.
Lastly, I stamped the sentiment from Impression Obsession using black Memento ink.

Festive Berries

 Morning.
Meet today's card.
Not very traditional but I think still looks Christmasy.

Playing with my Penny Black stamps today.
I began by masking off the edges of my card front with Painter's Tape then using my MISTI, I stamped the Berry Merry Christmas image that I coloured using my Memento markers.  I always start by colouring the lightest shade onto my stamp, spray with water, stamp and repeat that process using darker shades of colour.
I stamped the sentiment from the Christmas Cheer set with Memento black then went back in and watercolored the background using Broken China Distress Stain.
To add more interest, I added a bit of stenciling using drywall tape and splattered with white acrylic paint to give a snowy effect.

CAS Watercolour Challenge- Resist

Hello and welcome.
Taking a break from making Christmas cards today.

It's time for another fun challenge at CAS Watercolour Challenge.
This month our challenge is Watercolour Resist.

 http://caswatercolour.blogspot.com/2016/12/cas-watercolour-december-challenge.html

I began making my card by splattering some masking fluid all over the front of my white cardstock.  That will become the resist technique I will use on my card.
You will need to set it aside to dry as it takes a little while to be ready to use.

When dry, I placed my PB flower called The Unfolding inside my MISTI, coloured with Memento markers, sprayed with water and stamped.
I always start with the lightest shades first and then add darker shades as I repeat the above process...so easy to do when using the Misti.  I let the piece dry a bit then inked up my stamp with Versamark ink and clear heat embossed the image.  That also helped to work as a resist when I watercoloured the background.
* Be sure to remove any masking fluid from your stamped image before heat embossing but not from the background.

I watercoloured the background using Distress Stains and water, trying to concentrate more colour around the flower and floating a weaker shade of the colour as I moved away from the image.
You can see how the masking fluid resists the ink and leaves the white spots.
I rubbed off the masking fluid and stamped the sentiment from the PB Sentiment Collection.
I did add a bit of stenciling with drywall tape to finish it all off.

Snowflake Stencil Resist

 Morning.
Trying out something different today using my favourite snowflake stencil from SSS.
I wanted to use it as a resist so here is what I did.

I began by inking up the back of the stencil with Versamark ink, placed it onto my card front and ran it through my Cuttlebug.  I then sprinkled on clear embossing powder and heat set.
I got out my Brushos, diluted with some water and used that to watercolour in my background.  The areas that were embossed resisted the paint and gave an icy feel to the background.
I splattered the background with white acrylic paint and then white heat embossed the sentiment panel and added it to my card using pop dots.
The black enamel dot was the finishing touch.

Cozy Christmas Wishes

 Morning.
Meet today's card.

I pulled out this Stampendous stamp that I have had for years and thought it was time to make a card using it.  Love the sweet, vintage look it has.

I began by masking off my white cardstock using Painter's tape and stamped the image using black Memento ink.  I colored the girls using Copic markers and sponged on some Distress inks around the images.  To add to the postcard feel, I stamped the Penny Black script faintly in the background.  It really helped to add further interest to the overall design.
I splattered with white acrylic paint then added some Wink of Stella to their faces which unfortunately doesn't show up in the photo.
Lastly, I mounted the stamped image onto a piece of maroon paper that I had silver embossed on the edges.

Snowflake Wishes

 Morning.
Meet today's card.
I'm trying to make cards that will easily go through the mail without using extra postage.  This card uses die-cuts and embellishments but is still pretty flat.

I began by using a leftover piece of inked paper.  I had inked up another card and there was ink left on my non-stick craft sheet.  Instead of letting it go to waste, I soaked it up with another piece of cardstock and my background was born.
I used a snowflake die from Simon Says and did an embedded die-cut using it.  That kept my card surface flat yet added visual interest with the snowflake.
I repeat stamped the sentiment from Penny Black giving it a journal feel.
Using a piece of drywall tape, I stenciled using the same Salty Ocean Distress ink then added some Nuvo to add some dew like water drops.  The blue button in the center of the snowflake is flat too but nice and shiny.

Christmas Critters

 Morning.
Meet this adorable little pair just sharing some Christmas cheer.
Playing with a new image from the Penny Black set called Snow Much Fun.

I began by stamping the image using my Misti, then coloured it using Copic markers.  I added some Wink of Stella over the fox to give him a shiny coat.  Too bad you can't really see that in the photo.
Next, using a circle die, I partially cut a circle from a piece of cardstock.  I glued that onto my card front and then sponged the bottom area with some Salty Ocean Distress ink to help ground the image.

I positioned my image inside the circle area and stamped again using Memento black ink.  I did that so I could pop-dot the coloured image over the top and didn't have to fussy cut out the holly and berries.

I stamped the sentiment from the PB set called Festive Snippets.
I bordered the edges of my card front with some red polka dot washi tape and pop dot mounted the whole piece over that.
