Thankful Heart

Meet today's card.
I think it feels so good to have a 'thankful heart'!
I am so thankful and blessed to have all of you that come and visit my blog to see what I have been up to.
A big thanks for that.

Here's what I did to create my card.
I love this embossing folder from Carabelle.  It has a bit of a graffiti/grunge feel to it.  I wanted to use it to do some Embossing Folder Inking.
I cut a heart mask from printer paper and used the negative part to mask my piece of cardstock.  I inked up the embossing folder with Distress Oxide inks, sprayed with water and pressed over the masked area.  I removed the mask right away and dried with my heat tool.  I love the watery impression it left behind.
Using scissors, I fussy cut out the heart leaving a slight white border around the edge.
Next, it was onto my card front.  Using my ScorPal, I scored 3 lines where I wanted the heart to be placed and to help break up the embossed background.  Then using the same embossing folder as I had for the inked heart, I embossed the top of my panel up to the scored lines then the bottom portion stopping before the scoring.
I used the new sentiment set from Penny Black called Grateful Heart to stamp the center of the heart and then pop dotted it over my embossed card front.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Beach Inspired

Happy Saturday.
I have been so super busy and missing my 'play' time so I just went for it today and played around with inks and paper.  No direction or plan; just grabbed some inks and paper and stamps and drywall tape of course!

So, I began by rubbing some Peacock Feather Distress Oxide ink onto an acetate sheet, sprayed with water and pressed onto my paper.  I hope you are not sick of me talking about my Acetate Inking Technique but it is so super easy, fast and fun to do that I am addicted to it for adding ink to a background.  I repeated that process using Salty Ocean DOX then some Faded Jeans as well, overlapping the inks.
Again, make sure you dry the layers of ink before adding more on top for better coverage.
After I had inked the paper to where I was happy, I sat and thought about what to do next.
I remembered that I had rediscovered an old stamp in my stash that has no name on it.  I bought it so many years ago but it has a sort of nautical theme to it.  It is a wood block, 4 sided stamp and one of the sides has the stars on it so I grabbed that and inked them with more Salty Ocean DOX and stamped.
After that, I stamped some details and then this wonderful sentiment from Inkylicious that is new-to-me  I added further detail by stenciling with some drywall tape, splattering with a paintbrush then....I had created a collage style card.

Where will your 'play' time take you?

Have a great weekend and thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Rainy Day in Paris

Good Morning.
Today, I am playing with this new stamp called 'In Paris' from Penny Black.
I can only imagine what it would be like to travel and see the Eiffel Tower.
I wanted to try and depict the sense of rain so here's what I did.

I began by placing the stamp inside my Misti, inked it with Memento black ink and stamped onto my card front.  I clear heat embossed it so it would resist the ink I was about to add.
Next, I took a piece of acetate, inked it up with Peacock Feathers Distress Oxides, sprayed with water and pressed onto my paper.  I repeated that process again using some Salty Ocean and a touch of Faded Jeans DOX.
To see a pictorial I did go here:

I love the way the inking gave my card such a feeling of being in the rain.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Coffee Time

Good Morning.
Meet today's card.
Just a simple card I created using a new to me stamp set by Altenew.  It is a fun set with lots of great images in it of coffee and tea cups and some splatters thrown in just for fun.

I have to begin by saying that I do enjoy my coffee and it makes me happy drinking it especially if I am with my girlfriend and we are out at our favourite coffee shop.

I began creating my card by inking up a piece of acetate with Distress Oxide inks, sprayed the sheet with water and pressed onto my paper.  I have found it best to dry each layer of colour before applying the next to prevent making a muddy mess.  These inks layer so wonderfully over one another and still maintain their colour after layering.

To see my mini-tutorial go here:

When the inking was all dry, I placed the images into my Misti, inked with Memento black and stamped.

Fancy Flowers

Happy Saturday!
Had some fun creating this card using my Distress Oxide inks.
The technique is one where the ink applied is lifted with water.  That can be easily done with DOX's as they are a great water based ink.

Here's what I did to create my card.
I began by inking up my card front using some Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide inks.  Next, when the ink was dry, I rubbed the whole front with an anti-static pad.  This helps the embossing powder stick just where you want it to and not all over your inked background.
I then positioned my flowers inside my Misti, inked them with Versamark and white heat embossed them.  It is best to use an 'open' image for this technique.
I went into the flowers with a wet paintbrush and lifted the ink from the petals and leaves being sure to rinse my brush frequently to remove the ink from it.
I added colour to my flowers by painting them in with some purple Distress Oxide ink and a paintbrush.
The sentiment was also stamped with Versamark and white heat embossed.
Lastly, I splattered the whole piece with some water to lift the colour and white heat embossed the edges.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Garden Silhouettes- CAS Watercolour Challenge

Welcome and meet today's card.
Time for another card for the

Great theme this month....Garden.

For the challenge this month, we ask that you include a garden and not just a flower.

We welcome Nonni from Nonni's Handmade Cards as our GD this month.

Here's what I did to create my card.
I began by masking off my card front so I would have a nice clean white border when I was done.
Next, I inked the back of Mini Sweet Peas stencil with Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide inks, sprayed with water and pressed onto my paper to give me a monoprint.
*Be sure to let your paper dry when working with Distress Oxide inks, they smear when wet.*

When that was all dry, I stamped these flowers from Art Journey over the top using some more Distress Oxide inks.
I decided not to add a sentiment so my card could be used for any occasion.

I hope you will come and play along with us.

Welcome Spring- The Flower Challenge

Good Morning.
Time for another card for

Our theme this month is Anything Goes and the DT's are all using some beautiful digital images to create our cards this month.
You also have a chance at winning these images from EunJi Jung at DotBStamp.

For my card, I printed out these lovely flowers images and watercoloured them using Brushos diluted with water.  I chose shades of yellow and oranges that reminded me of warm summer colours.
Using my Misti, I stamped a plaid background from Concord and 9th using some Peacock Feather Distress ink and set aside to dry.
I die-cut a stitched frame and mounted the flowers over the corner of the frame and added the plaid background.  I stamped the sentiment in the top corner then lastly, using a fine line black marker, I colored in some of the flower center details then I covered the flower centers with Glossy Accents to give some shine.

You still have time to come and play along with us.
Thanks so much for the visit.

Memories to Treasure

Hello and Welcome.
I'm playing with inks again to see what colour combinations I can come up with other then blue (wink, wink).
Today, I am using the 'Swipe Your Credit Card' technique for this card.
I need a few sympathy cards for my stash so tried to make this one soft and muted and suitable for giving at a most difficult time.

So for my card front, I dipped the edge of an old credit card into some wet Distress Oxide ink and dragged it over my card front till I was satisfied with the coverage.
When that way dry, I rubbed my inked paper with a non-static pad and then white heat embossed the leaves and buds.  Using a shade of purple, I did a loose watercolor onto the leaves to help make them pop.
I placed this lovely sentiment into my Misti and stamped using some black Memento ink and mounted the whole piece on a complimentary colour of cardstock.

Thanks so much for the visit.
Have a great week.

Savannah Giraffes

Happy Saturday!
Meet today's card inspired by a new stamp I just picked up from Technique Junkies.
I love this sculptural looking tree and just had to have it.
I wanted to make a totally unusual background as well so here is what I did.

I began by stamping the large Alpha Collage onto my paper using grey Memento ink.  I wanted the letters to be visible but not prominent.  Using a ruler, I drew in a grid pattern and watercolored the squares using my Distress inks, trying to give each square some variation of colour by using similar shades and adding more or less water.
When that was all dry, I placed the stamp into my Misti and inked it with black Memento.  I then clear heat embossed the image to help make it pop.
I mounted the whole piece onto a piece of black then colored cardstock and then to my white card front.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
I hope you are inspired to use your background stamps in a different way too.

Joyful

Good Morning.

Here is a simple card I made while playing with my Distress Oxide inks and a credit card.
I showed some cards I had created on my blog months ago about how to do this technique but I will give you a short review.

I used a heavy weight cardstock instead of watercolour paper so the ink would sit on top of the paper and not soak in.  I rubbed the Oxide ink directly onto my non-stick craft sheet, sprayed with water and dipped just the edge of my credit card into the ink and then dragged it across and down my paper.

When it was dry, I placed the piece inside my Misti to stamp the flower and add the sentiment.

Thanks so much for coming to take a look.

Flower Frenzy

Good Morning.
Meet today's card.
Keeping it very clean and simple using a new-to-me stamp set from Simon Says.

I began my card by stamping the flowers all over my white cardstock panel.  I started near the centre and stamped outwards being sure to stamp in all the spaces.  That set has a larger image and lots of smalls to fill in with.
Now most people would just go ahead and colour in the flowers but I decided to go in another direction.  So next, I took a blue Tombow marker and coloured in the background around the flowers which really helped make a fun looking pattern.  I used a curved die to cut the panel and then glued them onto another piece of cardstock.
I stamped the sentiment, then punched it out with a circle punch, added another flower from the set to the centre and a blue button to the centre of that.  I pop dotted that over the curve.

Have a great week and thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Lovely Magnolia- The Flower Challenge

Good Morning and Welcome.
Time for some fun at
This month our theme is:

For the challenge this month, we are offering a lovely prize to the winner.
This month, the talented EunJi Jung from DotBStamp, has offered two of her newest released digitals as a prize.  The DT's have also used these digitals to create our cards this month.
Please check out the wonderful creations over at the blog.

So onto my card.
I wanted this beautiful magnolia to be the star of the show so I printed it out onto heavy white cardstock, watercoloured it using my Zig Waterbrush markers, then fussy cut out the images.
I mounted one flower over the other using pop-dots to help give it some dimension.
I stamped a piece of blue cardstock with Penny Black Script as a backdrop then mounted it all under a circle frame.  I added the sentiment using my Misti.

In the Garden- CAS Watercolour Challenge

Hello and Welcome.
It's time for another card for the
Our theme this month is
GARDEN.

For the challenge this month, we ask that you include a garden and not just a flower.
We welcome Nonni from Nonni's Handmade Cards as our GD this month.
So onto my card.

I decided to make a square card for the challenge this month.
I began by stamping the garden scene along the bottom of a square piece of cardstock with black Memento then I clear heat embossed it so it would resist the ink I was about to add.
To add the ink to my background, I used my Acetate Inking Technique with a piece of acetate and my Distress Oxide inks.

I cut a square frame using a die from Spellbinders and pop-dot mounted the inked piece inside the frame.

I hope you will come and play along with us this month.
We would love to see what you create.
