Tie Dye Garden and Tutorial

Hello and Welcome

Trying something new out today.  I think it's so fun to play with a new technique and I wanted to show you how easy it and I could use the inks I already have on hand.  I read the tutorial over at Splitcoast Stampers but decided to take some pics so you could see how I did it.

So here's what I did.

I began with a plain, white coffee filter from the Dollar Store.

I scrunched it all up into a ball creating lots of creases and folds.

I opened the filter up, sprayed with water and gathered it together from the center out....sort of like holding a fan shape.

I took my Distress Oxide ink pads and rubbed it directly onto the filter, rotating it as I went along.

After I was happy with the inking, I opened the filter up and flattened it out to reveal this.
*when you open it up if there isn't enough inking on spots, just refold and ink again*

So when the inked filter was all nice and dry, I glued it onto a piece of heavy cardstock, folding over the edges and gluing them around the back.
Use a glue stick to adhere as the liquid glue will most likely make a mess.
I placed the piece into my Misti and stamped the sentiment using some Versafine black ink.
I die-cut the flowers and glued them over the bkg.
I mounted it all onto a heavy white card base.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

  8. Ww, Karen, very clever, don’t drink coffee and not sure what coffee filets are but reckon it would work with scrunched up tissue paper come to think of it have done it that way a few years ago now in 2018!
Well done, a circle gives tie-dye affect... all way back from 1970s!!
Thanks for being a blessing, and may God bless you too.
    Hugs, Shaz in Oz.x 😊

  10. OH MY GOODNESS! I love that you did this with a coffee filter. Back in 2000, we did this with paper towels, reinkers and glue (believe it or not), and the result was fantastic. But the coffee filters have a much better texture for this technique, and your results are beautiful, Karen, with the "round" filter compared to the square towels. THANK YOU SO MUCH for the tutorial! BTW, your sparkling card looks amazing! hugs, de
