Blue Skies of Spring- The Flower Challenge

Hello and Welcome
A new month means a new theme at

As some of our teams are celebrating Spring's arrival, others are welcoming Fall.
So this month you can choose, just be sure that flowers are the focal point of your card.

We are being sponsored this month by the amazing Bugaboo Stamps with a $12 gift code for our winner , (approx 4 digital stamps). Such beautiful and fun digital stamps to be found there, do pay them a visit if you haven't already! All the design team have been given some of their stamps to use on their cards also.

We also welcome our guest this month Trina P from Phamtasticdesign

So onto my card details.
As mentioned, this month we are creating using some florals from Bugaboo.
I chose one that was a circle, so pretty.
I began by printing it out onto some heavy white cardstock and cut around the dotted border.  I was creating a 'Spring' themed card and when I think of Spring I think of blue skies so I went with that.
After cutting it out, I coloured in the background using blue Copic markers so the flower would pop and be the focal point.
Next, I thought about how I wanted to mount it.  I had this piece sitting in my stash so decided to use it.  I had created it by tracing on the inside of my BoHo Medallion stencil using a Pigma black marker.  I thought it complimented the circular design of the flower and was a great way to use that stencil in a new way.
To add interest, I cut out the center area of the stenciled background, glued the coloured Bugaboo image onto that piece then pop dotted it back in place, matching up the outlined areas.
I did add a bit of colouring to some of the outside edges of the stenciled outline to help pull all the colour together.
I simply mounted all of that onto a piece of heavy white cardstock.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Here is the stencil I used.

  1. Such a unique look with that background! Love it! Also love the combination of blue, black, and white, and the way you left the rose white and did the background around it in blue.
