Good Morning
Meet today's card.
I'm trying something new to me.
Every Monday at Splitcoast Stampers, they have what is called the Technique Lovers Challenge. It is a fun way to try some new ideas and add to your creative notebook. This week, it was to create a grid on a card, so I thought I would give it a try.
So here is what I did to create my card.
- I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock cut 4x4 inches. I thought a square would work best with this technique. I pulled out the Tim Holtz Leaf Prints and my Tombow markers.
- I place the panel into my Misti and positioned the first leaf. I coloured directly onto the stamp with my Tombow markers, sprayed with water and stamped onto the white cs.
- I continued that process, stamping the leaves randomly all over the panel
- When I was happy with the stamping, I dried it completely with my heat tool.
- Next, it was time to draw in the grid lines. I measured, then looked for a fine tip maker as I wanted the lines to be on the thinner side. I found a green Crayola marker that had a fine tip so I went with that. Using a ruler, I measured out 1/2 inch lines and drew them in.
- After all the lines were drawn, I added some shading to them with some Evergreen Bough DOX ink using a sponge dabber. It really helps add so much interest and depth to the leaves.
- I stamped the sentiment from Altenew and pop dotted it over the bkg.
- Finally, I mounted the panel onto a heavy white card base.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

I just love this, how clever is that background? It is so effective. The loose watercolour stamping is great and your shading on the squares really does add depth. Bet that was a challenge to keep the ink in the right place. xx
