Welcome
Today's card was a fun one to create using the new Three Diamonds stencil with an added twist.
Have you ever used a stencil to emboss your background? That's what I did for the background.
So, here's what I did to create my card.
- I decided to emboss the background using the Three Diamonds stencil. To do that in your machine, you may have to experiment. For my machine (Spellbinders Platinum)..... this is the sandwich I used: Main Plate; Rubber Mat; cardstock; stencil; scrap paper; and top plate.
- After my cardstock was embossed, I used my brayer to apply the colour by gently rolling over the raised embossing with some Broken China Distress Oxide ink. (I wish I could have captured the embossing look with the picture)
- Next, using a blending brush, I rubbed some Uncharted Mariner DOX ink along the edges to give the panel a bit more definition.
- I placed the embossed and inked piece into my Misti and stamped the snowflake into the top corner. I love the distressed look of the snowflake.
- I stamped the random dots that are included in the same set as the snowflake, around the snowflake.
- Now for the sentiment....I looked through my scraps and found this one that I had cut off of the jeans pocket card I had made for my son. I stamped the sentiment onto that using my Misti.
- I glued the finished panel onto a piece of white cardstock, then onto an A2 sized card base.
- I pop dotted the sentiment into the bottom corner.
Here is the stencil I used:

ReplyDeleteGreat combination of stencil and embossing Kate, a Super result with the card.

The diamonds stencilled in blue make a beautiful background to the large snowflake Karen, and finished perfectly with the spatters and the sentiment using the leftover piece of a jeans card which you kept, and which works brilliantly. Just shows we should never throw anything away. x
ReplyDeleteEye catching effects Karen and like you love the distresses snowflake stamp, many thanks for sharing at Allsorts and We Love Stamping challenges.

Karen wow I love this stencil with the chosen colours here, looks amazing x
ReplyDeleteMarvelous technique with your stencil. I haven't stamped on top after the emboss, and the fragmented look of the snowflake is brilliant! Thank you so much for playing along with the Spots and/or Stripes theme at Allsorts.
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant use of the technique Karen, and a stunning card - love the distressed look to the snowflake

Back again wearing my DT hat for We Love Stamping - thank you for sharing this wonderful card with us this month Karen - a fascinating outcome of how you used the snowflake, and sentiment stamp on the scrap piece of card. I certainly know that your favourite colour is blue :)
