Embossed Stenciling

Good Morning.
It's my turn to host the TLC Challenge (Technique Lovers) over at Splitcoast Stampers.
I'm calling this technique
It's a fun and easy technique to do and adds such great texture and interest to your card front.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began by dry embossing a piece of white cardstock with a Houndstooth embossing folder.
  • I placed the embossed piece onto my Make Art Station and placed the Snowflake Net stencil over that.
  • I rubbed some Uncharted Mariner Distress Oxide ink over the snowflakes and then added some Broken China DOX ink to the rest of the open area.
  • Next, I stamped the little skater onto a piece of scrap white cardstock, coloured it with my Copic markers and die cut it into a circle.  I rubbed some of the Broken China DOX ink that was still on my brush, along the edges of the circle.
  • I stamped the sentiment with some Uncharted Mariner and cut it into a strip.
  • I glued the card front panel onto a piece of blue cardstock, then onto an A2 sized card base.
  • I used some foam tape to add the little skater image to one side and the sentiment to the other side.
  • Finally, I added some silver gems to finish my card off.

Stenciled Die Cuts

Good Morning
Today's card is a simple one as I wanted to play with a new die that I just got along with the newly released stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I cut a piece of white cardstock and placed it onto my Make Art Station.
  • I laid the Not Quite Stripes stencil over that and inked it up with some Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide ink.
  • I lifted the stencil off, cleaned it and turned it around and put it back over my first stenciling.  I inked again with some Rustic Wilderness DOX ink.
  • I took the stenciled panel and used the Eclectic Tree Outlines die to cut it out.  Be sure and keep all the little pieces when you die cut.  It helps to put some low tack tape across the back of your cardstock before die cutting it out to help hold all the little pieces in place.
  • I glued the panel onto a piece of white cardstock, then glued the little die cut pieces back into place over the panel.
  • I glued the panel onto a piece of green cardstock, then onto an A2 sized card base.
  • I use some foam tape to add the sentiment.

Dramatic Blooms

Good Morning
This new stencil from A Colorful Life Designs is a real eye catching design.
It is called:
I decided to create a monochromatic card using some shades of pink and red.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I placed a piece of white cardstock on my Make Art Station and added the Dramatic Blooms stencil over that.
  • I inked it up with some Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink and then blended some Lumberjack Plaid just into the center of the flower.
  • I repeated that process again on another piece of white cardstock, splattered both with my white Posca pen and set aside to dry.
  • When they were dry, I fussy cut out both flowers.
  • I glued one of the cut out flowers along the top edge of a piece of white cardstock, and the other one I had cut out was placed along the bottom with some foam tape to pop it up, overlapping the top one a bit.
  • I die cut the sentiment words from a piece of cardstock that I had inked up with some more Picked Raspberry DOX ink and splattered that, again with my white Posca pen.  I die cut the shadow part of the sentiment from some white cardstock, then glued them both together.
  • I glued the card front onto a piece of pink cardstock, then onto an A2 sized card base.
  • I used some foam tape to add the sentiment along the top edge of the card front.

Layered Mixed Flowers

Good Morning.
I just love this new stencil for January from A Colorful Life Designs called
Layered stencils are great and you can easily add multiple colours to your designs without having to mask areas off.  This is a 4 part stencil.
This stencil reminds me that Spring will eventually get here!

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I placed a piece of white cardstock onto my Make Art Station and put #1 Layered Mixed Flowers stencil over my paper.  I inked that stencil with some Ripe Persimmon Distress Oxide ink.
  • I positioned stencil #2 over the first inking and used some Picked Raspberry DOX ink to ink again.
  • I placed stencil #3 into place and inked the leaves with some Rustic Wilderness DOX ink.
  • Last, but not least I added the flower centers with stencil #4 with some Black Soot DOX ink.
  • Next, I inked up a scrap of white cardstock with the Rustic Wilderness DOX ink and die cut the sentiment from that. I die cut the sentiment shadow right from the card front and then glued the sentiment over that.
  • I glued the stenciled panel onto an A2 sized card base, then used some foam tape to pop the sentiment back into place, matching up the flower pattern.

Happiest Birthday Wishes

Good Morning
I can't believe how quickly January is going by.
Today's card features one of the new stencils from A Colorful Life Designs called

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I took a piece of white cardstock and dry embossed it using an Alphabet folder.
  • I laid that embossed panel onto my Make Art Station. I put the Scrawled Pen stencil over that and inked it up with some Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide ink.
  • I removed the stencil and rubbed some Cracked Pistachio over the whole panel (although in the photo it looks blue) I placed the ink pad directly, laying it flat on the paper and rubbing over the raised areas.
  • While that dried, I die cut the sentiment 3 times with some more white cardstock and glued them together.
  • I glued the stenciled/embossed panel onto a piece of white cardstock, then onto some polka dot patterned paper, then onto and A2 sized card base.
  • I glued the Happy Birthday sentiment into the middle of my card and added some silver gems around it to finish it off.

Big Love

Hello and Welcome
Meet the new for January
stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.
Just in time for making some Valentine cards.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began by rubbing some Broken China Distress Oxide ink onto this Embossing Folder and then ran it through my die cutting machine.  It transferred all the ink to the raised area and I was left with a fun, embossed piece for my card front.
  • I took that embossed panel and placed it onto my Make Art Station.
  • I laid the Big Love stencil over that and inked it up with some Uncharted Mariner DOX ink.
  • Next, I rubbed some Broken China DOX ink onto a white scrap of cardstock, splattered it with my white Posca pen and die cut the heart.
  • I glued the stenciled/embossed panel onto an white A2 sized card base and used some foam tape to pop the heart over the 'O'.

A Little Birdie Told Me

Welcome
Today's card was a fun one using one of the new stencils from A Colorful Life Designs called
I have to say that I really miss seeing and hearing the birds in the winter as they are few and far between.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began by cutting a piece of white cardstock and I dry embossed it with a Masonry Wall folder.  It gave such nice texture to the panel.
  • Next, I placed the embossed piece onto my Make Art Station and placed A Bunch of Birds stencil over that.
  • I decided to give each bird their own unique colours, so I masked off the first one, inked and then moved the mask to the next.  The colours I used were:  Peacock Feathers, Uncharted Mariner, Cracked Pistachio and some Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide ink.
  • After all the birds were stenciled, I added a black dot for the eyes and set aside to dry.
  • I stamped the sentiment with some Blueprint Sketch DOX ink and then clear heat embossed it. I cut it into a flag shape and then added a bit of light blue ink along the edges.
  • I glued the stenciled panel onto a piece of navy cardstock and then onto an A2 sized card base.
  • I used some foam tape to pop the sentiment along the bottom.
