Winding Paths

Good Morning
This fun stencil is another one of the new releases from A Colorful Life Designs called:

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I placed the Winding Paths stencil over a piece of white cardstock and inked with some Dusty Concord and some Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide ink, alternating the colour.
  • I set that aside and inked another piece of white cardstock with some Wilted Violet DOX ink using the same stencil.
  • Next, I die cut the first panel I had inked using a diagonal die and set it aside
  • I die cut the birthday greeting with some dark purple cardstock 5 times, then glued them all together.
  • I glued one of the stenciled panels along the bottom onto a piece of purple cardstock and then I used some foam tape to pop the top one over that.  I glued those onto an A2 sized card base.
  • I glued the sentiment just above the die cut area and finally, added some purple gems.

Make it a Good Day

Welcome
Today, I'm playing with a newly released stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called
This stencil is so unique and fun.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I placed the Op Art Bench stencil over a piece of white cardstock and secured it well.
  • Starting at the top of my stencil, I inked with some Mustard Seed Distress Oxide ink. Moving down the stencil, I inked next with some Ripe Persimmon and then finally some Picked Raspberry DOX along the bottom.
  • I removed the stencil and splattered with my white Posca pen and set aside to dry.
  • I went into my scrap box where I found the inky piece to die cut the flowers.
  • As I looked, I also found another piece that I had inked using the A Lot of Angles, also from A Colorful Life Designs.  I die cut the sentiment from that piece. This sentiment did NOT come with a shadow, so I traced around the die onto black cardstock, fussy cut it out and glued those together.
  • I glued the stenciled panel onto a piece of orange cardstock, then a piece of pink and then onto a white A2 sized card base.
  • I added the flowers along the side and used some foam tape to pop up the sentiment.

Here are the stencils I used:

You're Not Old, You're a Classic

Good Morning
A new month means a whole new lineup of stencils from A Colorful Life Designs.
So meet the new for April stencil called:

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I placed a piece of white cardstock onto my Make Art Station and positioned the Escalator stencil over that.  I inked with some Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink.
  • I moved the stencil to the other side and inked again using some Blueprint Sketch DOX ink.
  • I lifted the stencil off and splattered the whole panel with my white Posca pen.
  • While that dried, I stamped the sentiment and die cut it out.
  • I used the Retro Mod die to cut out a piece right from the center of my card front panel and then I used the larger die of that set to cut another from some dark blue paper. I glued those 2 together.
  • I glued the stenciled panel onto another piece of the dark blue paper and then onto a white A2 sized card base.
  • I used some foam tape to added the center piece I had cut away back into place, matching up the pattern.
  • Last, I added the sentiment into the middle and added the little cut out shapes.

Vibrant YAY!

Welcome
I have to say that I really had some fun with the new April releases from A Colorful Life Designs.
For today's card, I used 2 of the new stencils called:

So, here's what I did to create this simple card.
  • Last time I was at the Dollar Store, I picked up some Black Rainbow Scratch Paper.  It looks totally black until a pattern or drawing is scratched into it. That was my starting point.
  • I placed the newly released Middle Square stencil down first and then put the Scratch paper over that.
  • Using the side of a popsicle stick, I rubbed over the whole stencil to transfer the pattern. Super easy and done in a jiffy.
  • I wanted the sentiment to match the panel so I took a small piece of the Scratch paper and place the Broken Lines stencil under that and rubbed over it to once again, transfer the pattern.  I used that to die cut the 'YAY'.
  • I glue my card front panel onto a piece of black cardstock and then onto an A2 sized card base.
  • I used some foam tape to pop the sentiment over the card front.

Fun Birthday

Welcome
Meet one of the April newly released stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called
It has a great look and it fun to create with.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I cut a piece of white cardstock and placed the Broken Lines stencil over that.  I inked the whole panel with some Ripe Persimmon Distress Oxide ink.
  • I wiped the stencil off, turned it around and then inked again with some Picked Raspberry DOX ink.
  • Next, I used the die called Trapezoidal Strip and cut the panel into pieces. I glued all the pieces back into place onto another piece of white cardstock, leaving some space between the strips but matching up the pattern.
  • I glue the panel onto a white A2 sized card base and set aside.
  • I took some time to look through my cast off stash and found this Alcohol inked piece so I used that to die cut the sentiment.
  • I used some foam tape to pop the sentiment up over the top of the card.

TLC- Shutter Fold- Smile

Hello and Welcome
Today, it's my turn to host the TLC over at Splitcoast Stampers where I am featuring the
It's a fun fancy fold challenge to try that is easy and comes together quickly.
I used just one stencil from A Colorful Life Designs to create all the pattern.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I started with the first piece which would create the shutter fold  by cutting a piece of white cardstock 6 x 6 inches square and placed the Lush Flowers stencil over that.
  • Next, I inked it up with some Ripe Persimmon and some Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink, blending the inks together.
  • I set that aside to dry and then cut another piece of white cardstock 3 3/4 x 3 3/4 inches square that would become the inside of the shutter fold.
  • I placed one of the largest sized flowers from the same Lush Flowers stencil over that square and inked it up with some Mustard Seed DOX ink.
  • I took the largest square and scored it at 1 1/4 inches around each side and cut away as shown in the video below. I used a bone folder to fold the 4 sides in.
  • I turned the largest square over so that the stenciling was to the back and glued the smaller square over the inside middle.
  • I tucked all the 4 sides under one another creating the shutter fold.
  • I glued the finished card front onto a piece of orange, then pink cardstock and then onto 4 1/4" inch white square card base.
  • I stamped the sentiment and die cut it out, then used some foam tape to pop it over the middle.
Here is the video I followed:

Take Care of Yourself

Hello and Welcome
I hope you will continue to indulge me with the cards I have made using the Crayon Rubbing technique.
It's so fun and easy to do which is great for me and my most busy schedule.
I'm using a new for March stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called:

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • Like I have mentioned in previous posts, I have been trying to use up my cast-off.  This one was a faint green roll off sheet done while I was using my Distress Oxide inks on my Gel Plate.
  • I placed the Jardiniere stencil down first, then the inked paper next and rubbed a dark navy Crayola crayon over the whole page to transfer the pattern.
  • Next, I die cut the sentiment shadow right from the middle of my card front.  I die cut the sentiment with some navy cardstock and glued it onto the shadow.
  • I glued the card front panel onto a piece of white cardstock, then navy and then onto a white A2 sized card base.
  • I added the sentiment back into the center with some foam tape to pop it up.

  • I placed the Starry Rays stencil over a piece of white cardstock and inked it up with some Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink.
  • I shifted the stencil and inked again with some Broken China DOX ink, layering the 2 colours. It made a very cool looking design.

Let's Party

Welcome

Today's card is filled with a bit of whimsy as I am using the newly released stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called:

So, here's what I did to create my fun card.
  • I began by cutting a piece of white cardstock and dry embossed it with a circle Embossing Folder.
  • I placed the Zig Zag Squares stencil over my embossed cardstock and inked with some Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide at the top.  Next, I added some Salty Ocean along the middle and then some Blueprint Sketch DOX inks along the bottom. Stenciling over an embossed piece of cardstock, adds another level of interest to any background.
  • Next, I die cut the sentiment with some dark blue cardstock and the sentiment shadow right from my card front.
  • I wanted to add a bit more interest to the sentiment, so I added some dots with my white Posca pen.  It brightened the whole thing up.
  • I glued the stenciled panel onto a piece of white cardstock, then some navy and then onto a 4 1/4inch square card base.
  • I glued the sentiment onto the shadow and popped it back into place over the card front with some foam tape.
  • The final step was to add some silver gems to the sentiment.

  • I placed the Flowing Curl stencil over a piece of white cardstock.  Starting at the top and working my way down, I inked with some Fossilized Amber, Ripe Persimmon and some Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink.
  • Leaving the stencil in place, I put the Zig Zag Squares over the top of it and inked again with the same colours as mentioned above.
  • I removed both stencils and placed the panel into my Misti to stamp the flowers.
  • Next, I splattered with my black Posca pen and set aside to dry.
  • I stamped the sentiment and die cut it with a circle die.

Crayon Rubbing- Just a Note

Good Morning
Can I just say that I love the versatility of stencils.
I am always trying to see how many different ways I can use them too.
For today's card I'm doing some more crayon rubbing using this new stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called:

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I have been trying to use up some of the pieces I have in my stash and I found this piece that I had rolled my brayer off onto while Gel Plate Printing.  Whenever I am using my Gel Plate, I always keep a supply of scrap paper beside me to roll ink off and I save them for future use.
  • I placed the Petit Four Dainty stencil onto my Make Art Station and placed the scrap I had found on TOP of the stencil.  I made sure both were secure before proceeding to the next step.
  • Next, using a green crayon, I rubbed over the whole panel, revealing the pattern of the stencil.  I love how it turned out.
  • I set that aside and found another scrap to use to die cut the sentiment.  I glued that onto the white die cut shadow it comes with.
  • I glued my card front onto a piece of white cardstock, then some green and then onto an A2 sized card base.
  • I used some foam tape to pop the sentiment over the middle of the card front.

Dutch Tile

Welcome
Today I'm having fun creating with a new stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called
I've made 2 cards using the same stencil but with totally different looks to them.

So, here's what I did to create my cards.
  • I put a piece of white cardstock onto my Make Art Station and placed the Dutch Tile stencil over that.
  • I inked the stencil with some Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide ink.
  • I lifted the stencil, cleaned it off and then moved it over to ink again using some Peacock Feathers DOX ink, filling in more of the white areas.
  • I stamped and die cut the sentiment and used some foam tape to add it to a navy die cut circle.
  • I glued the stenciled panel to a piece of white cardstock, then some navy and then onto a white A2 sized card base.
  • I glued the sentiment to the card front.

CARD #2

Here's what I did for my second card.  Same stencil, different technique.

  • I placed the Dutch Tile stencil down onto my Make Art Station and then placed a piece of white textured cardstock over that and secured well.
  • Using a royal blue Crayola Crayon, I rubbed over the white cardstock to transfer the pattern.  I peeled the paper off the crayon and used the flat side of the crayon to get the best results.  It reminded me of a piece of fabric when I was done.
  • Next, I cut the sentiment shadow right from the front of the card panel.
  • I rubbed a piece of white cardstock with some Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide ink and then used that to cut out the HELLO letters. I added some white dots to the letters with my white Posca pen to give them more interest.
  • I glued the stenciled card front onto a piece of white cardstock, then some blue cardstock and then onto an A2 sized card base.
  • I used some foam tape to pop the sentiment back into place in the center of the card front.
  • Finally, I added some silver gems to the center of the flowers.

Here is the stencil I used for both cards:
