Today, I wanted to challenge myself to create a simple one-layer card.
I have had this star stamp for awhile and haven't really used it so today was the day.
I began by masking off the sides of my card with painter's tape. I find even though the painter's tape is a low tack tape it can pull your paper a bit so I stick it on my clothes first, then onto my paper so it is less sticky. With the tape in place, I stamped the grunge stars with Versamark ink and embossed them with white powder. I then sprinkled Brusho over that and sprayed with water to activate the paint. I love the splotchy colourful background.
Lastly, when all was dry, I stamped this perfect sentiment for my card using Memento black ink with my MISTI. I love using my MISTI for stamping over a painted background as I can repeat stamp for a dark image. When I removed the tape, I had a nice crisp, white border with no layers.
Adding my card to these challenges:
Seize the Birthday- ANYTHING GOES
Crafting With Friends- ANYTHING GOES
The Stamping Boutique- STARS and STRIPES
(the stars have small grunge stripes)
Brown Sugar- ANYTHING GOES
Simply Papercraft- ANYTHING GOES
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

ReplyDeleteAmazing design Karen. Such a beautiful one layer card. I don't know how you keep the brushos just in your masked off area. I'm so messy and they end up all over my card, work table, floor, ceiling :) I'm with you on the Misti ... fantastic stamping tool. xx
ReplyDeleteAnother great card, love the sentiment. Karen x

ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful card Karen. I too love playing with the Brushos. Hopefully I will buy the Misti shortly as this Friday my card making group is having a garage sale and I will buy the Misti with my winnings. It is difficult to stamp a sentiment on wc paper.
