Happy Saturday!
Time for me to play along with the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast this a.m. Today, we are being inspired by a board on Pinterest called Minimalist/Clean and to create a card that reflected that style.
I began by masking the edges of my white cardstock using the Painter's Tape again.
*Don't forget to remove some of the adhesive by sticking it onto your clothes a few times so you won't tear your cardstock when you take the tape off.*
Then I looked through my stamps to find a large stamps and some smaller flowers and leaves, varying the size. I stamped them using black Memento ink all around my card front filling in areas as I went and added some shading with a grey Copic marker.
I sponged some Weathered Wood Distress ink around the outside edges leaving areas of open white space in the center; gives it a sense of light coming in from behind.
I stamped the sentiment from Hero Arts onto a piece of black cardstock and heat embossed it with white powder. After I cut it out, I pop dotted it over my background and removed the Painter's Tape to reveal a crisp white border.
Adding my card to these challenges:
Seize the Birthday- ANYTHING GOES
Simon Says- ANYTHING GOES
Addicted to Stamps and More- MAKE YOUR MARK
Crazy 4 Challenges- SPRING
Crafty Friends- FLORAL
Thanks so much for looking and have a great weekend.
Supplies: stamps- Hero Arts, Sassy Stamps, SU/ ink-Memento, Distress, Versamark/ wh EB powder/ applicator tool/ Copic marker/ Painter's tape

ReplyDeleteSpectacular card! I've been away from stamping for awhile, just returned a week ago. Hadn't heard of masking off the border, and I appreciate your tip about sticking it to your clothes first. Another idea for next to go work on... Thanks!

ReplyDeleteOh my, Karen, this is so dramatic and beautiful! I love it! And wow, what a great stamp set you've used, along with the wonderful technique. Yes, shading the flowers with grey Copics does indeed draw the eye inward, along with the outer sponging. And the embossing sentiment on white really makes it all pop, along with your fabulous framing! Stunning, my sweet friend! Warm hugs, and I am praying you are feeling lots better.
