Meet today's card.
Just a fun one I made while playing with some Yupo paper and my Alcohol inks.
I tried my hand at making a landscape which was really fun.
I began with a piece of Yupo paper which is a synthetic, plastic like paper. I bought mine at the local art store but I know it is readily available.
I applied the Alcohol inks in lines across my paper then did the same with some Blending Solution to help make the colours move. I also used the edge of an old credit card dipped in Blending Solution to help with moving the ink too. When it was dry, I stamped the trees from STAMPlorations using Archival ink and my Misti.
I set it aside to dry and when I picked it up again, I noticed a tiny bit of white peeking through by the tree line. I sat and scratched my head for a moment and wondered how to fix it without messing up the look of the background.
Had an 'awhhh moment' when I noticed the sharpies sitting on my desk. They are alcohol based so I took a similar green and dabbed it along the tree line to cover the white....TADA!!
I just love the texture it added to the overall look!
I cut a frame using a square Spellbinder die to create a frame then stamped the birthday greeting.
Adding my card to these challenges:

This is quite stunning. I think my favorite of the year, which is still young so I'm allowed to change my mind, but I don't see it happening. I love the look of the ink on that Yupo paper. Someone was talking it up at my big stamp club meeting the other day. Most are basic stampers (like me, but I appreciate those of you who experiment and make real art) so they were scratching their heads.
ReplyDeleteThose colors are so vibrant and beautiful, Karen, and the perfect foil for the tree silhouettes.
ReplyDeleteThis is a spectacular card! Absolutely love the landscape you have created with the alcohol inks and trees! Beautiful colors, too!
ReplyDeleteHaving played with AIs and Yupo to make landscapes, I must add my oooohhs to everyone above...this is absolutely gorgeous!!! I LOVE what you achieved (try duplicating it..Ha!) A beautiful work of art...I am a 'secret stalker' but had to comment on this one! :D TFS
