One for the Boys

Morning.
Meet today's card.
I haven't made a 'grunge' type card for quite awhile so today was the day.

I enjoy challenging myself to walk away from the flower images that I so love and try to create a masculine card.  This is what I came up with.
I was inspired by a great stencil I just picked up at Scrapfest too and wanted to use it.
I began by stenciling half my card front using Distress ink.  Next, I placed the bike images into my Misti, inked with Archival ink, stamped twice to get a dark black silhouette image and clear heat embossed.  I love the feel of motion these great stamps from Flonz have.
Next, I used the Graffiti stamp and the same colour of Distress ink to stamp around the images.  I thought it all worked well together.
I stamped the birthday sentiment and now I will have a great card on hand for one of my masculine friends that loves to bike.

Adding my card to these challenges:

Simon Says- ANYTHING GOES

Moments of Time

Happy Saturday!
So happy it's the weekend and time to play.

I always like to check out the challenges at Splitcoast Stampers for inspiration.
This morning the challenge was called Healing Words
I chose this great sentiment as my inspiration.
I truly believe in finding something good in each day to be grateful for. I believe that finding the positive in life can truly heal the soul and it is important especially now, when we live in a world with so much negative happening.

So onto my card.
I began by masking the edges of my cardstock with Painter's tape.  Again, don't forget to remove some of the tack by sticking it to your clothes a few times so it doesn't tear your card when removed.
I masked the edges, stamped the first set of leaves with Versamark then heat embossed them in white.  I stamped the bkg using my Misti and repeat stamped using grey London Fog Memento ink. The variation of the grey was done by stamping once for some leaves and stamping twice with the others to achieve a darker shade.
I sponged in the background with Distress ink, splattered with white acrylic paint then removed the tape.  The sentiment was stamped in black to help it pop over the grey.

Shades of Blue

Happy Saturday.
Meet today's card inspired by the challenge at Splitcoast and my love of stamping with blue.

I wanted to play with this wonderful wildflower stamp and see what I could create.
I began by placing the flower stamp inside my Misti, coloured directly onto the stamp with a light coloured Zig Waterbrush marker, sprayed with water and stamped.  I repeated that process with a darker shade of blue then clear heat embossed the image.  I stamped the flowers again in the bkg with gray Memento ink to add the appearance of shadows.
I went on to stamp the sentiment along the edge of my card front with Versamark ink then white heat embossed so I could do an emboss resist.
Lastly, I rubbed the whole card front with Distress inks and splattered with water to lift some of the colour...it looks like falling rain.

Earth Day Colours

Good Morning.

Today's card celebrates 'Earth Day' which is coming up on Saturday and the wonderful colours associated with it.
I am also trying to work with different colour combos to see what I can come up with.

The stamps I am using today are new releases from Penny Black and the flowers are just another example of the wonderful Brushstroke series of stamps that are so easy to work with and give great results.
I began by masking the edges of my card with painter's tape.  Don't forget to remove some of the tack of the tape so it won't tear your paper when you remove it.
I placed my heavy weight cardstock into my Misti then inked the PB Magnolia Rhapsody flower by colouring it with Tombow markers.  I sprayed with waterm then pressed onto my paper.
I repeated that process using darker shades of the earth tone colours then used a wet paintbrush to blend the colours together.
I inked the sentiment from the Happy Wishes sentiment set with black Memento ink and clear heat embossed it.  I sponged the edges using Rusty Hinge Distress ink then removed the masking tape.
Finally to add extra interest, I splattered the background using some more diluted Distress ink.

Bundle of Joy

Morning.
There is nothing more special then a new baby and I need a card for a special friend.

I began by stamping this cute little bunny onto white cardstock and fussy cut him out.  I stamped the bunny again onto the blue gingham paper, then fussy cut out his belly and ears and glued them on.   I coloured the rest of the bunny using Copics and set aside.
Next, I found the closest match to the gingham in my Distress ink colours which was Stormy Sky.  I wanted a space to ground the bunny when I added him to my card front so I masked the corner then sponged on the ink keeping it just in the corner of the card front.
Using my Misti, I stamped the sentiment and clear heat embossed it.
I mounted the inked piece onto the gingham, pop dotted the bunny and done.
A very clean and simple, fun card.

Beautiful World

Hello and Welcome.

I recently picked up a few new stamps and wanted to play with them.
So here is what I came up with...love the beautiful script of this sentiment.

I began by placing the flower stamp inside my Misti, inked with Archival ink and stamped.
Next, I coloured in areas of the flowers using my Zig markers, then pulled the colours out into the flower petals using a wet paintbrush.
When that was dry, I stamped the sentiment using my Misti again and clear heat embossed.

Pretty in Pink

Happy Easter and Welcome.
It's time for another card for the
CAS WATERCOLOUR CHALLENGE

I have enjoyed playing with the pinks and greens this month.
So meet today's card.
I began by stamping the hydrangea flower from Stampendous onto watercolour paper using my Misti.  I love this stamp, it is so easy to watercolour.
I added some pink to the flower centers with my Zig Real Brush marker then using a wet paint brush, I pulled the colour out onto the petals.  I repeated that process for the green leaves too.

When that was dry, I stamped the Full Bloom sentiment in the corner using my Misti and Archival ink.
A very clean and simple card was born.

Blooming Time

Morning.
I can't believe we are halfway through April already.
Time for another 'sketch' card for

Here is the sketch.

I began by masking off the band across the top as per the sketch.
I stamped the Hibiscus flower to create a mask on a piece of thin computer paper, then using my Misti I stamped the flower repeatedly, masking as I went along covering my card front.  By masking I was able to overlap my flowers and give more dimension.
I then coloured in behind the flowers using a grey Copic marker leaving the flowers white.
I stamped another single flower from that same set onto my white cs, watercoloured it using a grey Zig marker then fussy cut it out.
I removed the masked strip from along the top, then scored along the edges of that area with my ScorBug to create interest.  For those of you unfamiliar with that tool, it is used with a ScorPal and creates little perforated dots.
I cut a strip of white cardstock to fit inside the area at the top that had been masked off and stamped the sentiment onto that strip, glued it withing that area, then pop dotted the watercolored flower over that strip.
I added 3 clear pearls to the center of the flower as a finishing touch.

Great Friend

Good Morning.
I'm back again with another card I made using some new releases from Penny Black and of course, my favourite blue ink.
The flower stamp I'm using today is called Effulgent by Penny Black.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
I began by masking off the front of my heavy weight cardstock and sponged on Distress ink to create the framed area.  I placed the flower inside my Misti and then coloured part of the flower using Tombow makers, sprayed with water and stamped.  I repeated that process using darker shades of the blue until I was happy with the look.
I stamped the sentiment from the PB Happy Wishes sentiment set with Memento black.
I wanted to add interest to the blue sponged background, so I inked up the flower again and stamped it along the top edge using the same colour as the background ink.
Lastly, I inked up the PB Script stamp with gray ink and randomly stamped it into the masked area.

Living Life

Happy Saturday!
I hope you are enjoying some nice weather in your part of the world.
We had snow the other day but I really hope that Spring will come and stay now.

Playing with some new stamps again from Penny Black.
As most of you know, I love my Distress inks and love playing with them to see what kind of backgrounds I can come up with.  I created this one by partially inking up my long acrylic block, sprayed with water and dragged down my card front instead of just placing it there and letting the ink soak in.  By doing that, I was able to leave some areas white and open to stamp over.
Next, I placed the PB Effulgent stamp inside my Misti, coloured it with Tombow markers, sprayed with water and stamped onto my heavy weight white cardstock.  (I find that the cs I use is ok for this type of water stamping and hold up well.)  I repeated the above process using darker shades of the orange and then some dark brown to add shadow.
I stamped the sentiment from the PB Happy Wishes sentiment set again using my Misti and then finished my card off by using my 'go to' drywall tape to stencil in some of the open areas.

Dream On

Welcome and hello.
Today, I am playing with some new stamps from Penny Black..always fun to play with new toys.

I love to watercolour so my first thought when I saw this Effulgent flower stamp was to give it a look of watercolour.  I did that by placing the  flower in my Misti, coloured it with my Tombow markers, sprayed with water and stamped.  I repeated that process with a darker shade of blue to give the flower more interest.
To help balance out my card front, I stamped the Unfolding flower in the bottom left corner by using the same process as mentioned above.
Next, I sponged the edges with Distress ink and added some stenciling using drywall tape.
* Drywall tape is always sitting on my desk and I love using it to give more depth and interest to my backgrounds or just to perk up the look of a card. *
I stamped the sentiment from the Happy Wishes sentiment set using my Misti again and Memento ink.
Finally, I added some Nuvo drops; sorry it is hard to see those in the photo.

Sketch- The Flower Challenge

Good Morning.

It's been great to feel a touch of Spring in the air.
Time for another challenge at
This month we are creating cards based on a great sketch.

I began by masking the top portion of my card and then stamped this great poppy from an Altenew set onto my heavy white cardstock.  Then, using a Versamark pen, I colored in just the bottom 2 flowers and clear heat embossed them.  I did that so when I applied the blue inked background, I could keep those flowers totally white.
Next, leaving the mask in place, I sponged the card front using Distress inks.
When I was happy with the way the sponging looked, I used an iron to remove the embossing on the bottom flowers to reveal totally white flowers.
I removed the mask I had placed along the top portion of my card and scored some lines to define the area using my ScorPal and my ScorBug.
I stamped the poppy head again on another piece of card, watercolored it using my Zigs then punched out the circle so I could pop dot it over the first stamped poppy impression as per the sketch.
Lastly, I splashed some water on the background to lift a bit of the colour and then I added some Nuvo Drops to look like the morning dew.

Pink and Green- CAS Watercolour Challenge

Meet today's card.

It's time for another challenge at the
This month our theme will be Green and Pink.

 http://caswatercolour.blogspot.com/2017/04/cas-watercolour-april-challenge.html

Like I had mentioned on yesterday's card, I just picked up this great set of flowers from Altenew and wanted to do a loose watercolouring using them again.
I really like the whimsical look of these flowers and they were super simple to paint.
I began by placing the flowers inside my Misti, inked with Memento black ink and stamped onto watercolour paper.  Then using my Zig markers, I watercoloured the flowers with pinks and greens using a wet paintbrush.
When that was dry, I stamped the sentiment using more Memento black ink and my Misti.  I scribbled my green Zig onto my acrylic block, sprayed with water and used that to splatter some green onto my background.
To help pull the whole design together, I doodled in a border around the outside edge.  I think the border helps with the whimsical look of the flowers.

Words to Live By

Happy Saturday.

Today, I am playing with some new stamps; always lots of fun!
Here is what I came up with and you know I love my blues.

I began by placing a piece of watercolour paper into my Misti and inked up the center flower with Memento black ink and stamped.  I masked and stamped the next flowers on either side of the center one.
I then masked all three flowers and stamped the white dots behind with Versamark and heat embossed them in white.  Leaving the masks in place, I also stamped the graffiti using my Misti.  I like the way it gave the card a bit more depth and interest.
After removing the masks from the flowers, I did a loose watercolouring on them using my Zig markers then finally stamped the sentiment from Penny Black using my Misti again.
I mounted the piece a bit offset over a white piece of heavy cardstock that I had die cut with a stitched edge.
