Good Morning.
Welcome to another new addition for
This month we are having such a fun time with our theme to case one of the DT member's cards.
You should see all the amazing beauties there are to case...so much inspiration.
So, do you have some pieces of inky paper in your stash that just didn't work out for a project or card you were working on? That's how this card came together.
I began by looking at this inked paper I had made that was sitting in my stash. I love the colour blends. I achieved that by inking my acrylic block with Distress inks, sprayed with water and pulled the colour over the card surface instead of letting it soak in.
I cut out the frame using a stitched die, added some folds to my inked paper for interest and then glued the die-cut flowers over that.
I tried to keep my card simple in case you decide to case me! (wink, wink)
*EDITED: I had a lot of questions about the folds. They are not glued down and all I did was fold them back and forth onto themselves. It does help to really crease them using a bone folder or you could add scored lines to crease using your scoring tool before folding.
Hope that helps!

ReplyDeleteWow..that inked and folded paper looks very interesting !
ReplyDeleteKaren, that background is stunning - love the colours and the folds! And having white framing and die cut flowers is the perfect way to let the background take centre stage.
ReplyDeleteI know you said you folded the background but to me it reminds me of some siding on a building especially an older one where a few are slipping down a bit. But no matter how you did I just love this spectacular card design.
ReplyDeleteLove the die cut flowers in the frame but the real star of the show is that folded background piece!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful serene card. I like that you rescued that gorgeous inky paper and put it to work in the background of your card. With all the rain we've had here in BC it makes me feel like I'm looking out the window at the forest through a rain soaked window. Thanks for the "how to" tips on creating it. And, thanks for joining us at the Watercooler Wednesday challenge this week. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteHi Karen, what a lovely card! You always manage to pull off something stunning while keeping it clean and simple. This card is certainly no exception. The inky paper which you had put aside before was begging to be used and wow, you used it well. Folding it added even more texture and changed the flow of the ink lines. Lovely effect! The stitched frame and die cut flowers add just the right feminine touch. Thanks so much for joining in on our first Feminine Anything Goes challenge at our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.
