Hello and Welcome.
Time for another theme at the
I just love silhouette stamps, so I was excited to see our theme this month and I had just picked up this lovely set from Simon Says and wanted to play with it!
I began making my card by masking off the area on my card front using Painter's Tape.
I stamped the thistles using my Misti and Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I then clear heat embossed them so that there would be no black bleeding into my background when I added the watercolouring.
Leaving the taped mask in place, I watercoloured the background using Distress inks and a wet paintbrush. Just press your ink pad directly onto your acrylic block or non-stick pad and pick up the colour using a wet paintbrush.
I did some stenciling using drywall tape just on the blue area to add interest.
After removing the painter's tape and to help pull the whole thing together, I doodled a border around the watercoloured area. I stamped the sentiment then splattered some white acrylic paint over the bkg. for further interest and texture.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
Hope you will come and play along with us.

ReplyDeleteI love how you heat embossed your silhouette stamps 1st and then watercoloured your background. Wonderful addition to stencil the blue with your painters tape and add your doodled border:-) Love your masked framing and curved sentiment too. So creative and beautiful my friend. TFS Hugs...
ReplyDeleteP.S. They are called Thistle here and are a weed, but pretty because of the purple flowers and they dry beautifully! A little botany lesson from your friends (Pat and I):-) Hugs..
ReplyDeleteBeautiful backgrounds for the gorgeous stamped silhouette! Love it! xxx
ReplyDeleteSo pretty!! Love that gorgeous image. Looks amazing with your watercoloured background. Love the added interest with the drywall tape stenciling. The white splatters and doodled border are just perfect finishing touches. Beautiful card Karen. Hope you are doing well. xx
ReplyDeleteKaren the enabler - I'm now heading over to the Carabelle website to check out that stamp set. I'm also hooked on plant silhouette stamps and your card is so gorgeous I just have to have this set. I love your block stamping and doodle border.
ReplyDeleteAnother lovely card Karen - and I love those 'thistles'. My favourite flower even though they are a weed. I bought a few Lavinia Thistles at a craft show recently and love them. You always make the most amazing backgrounds to go with your featured stamp and sentiment.
ReplyDeleteThe thistles silhouette is so pretty, Karen! The soft and pretty watercolour background and the hand-drawn border are perfect for the nature-themed silhouette. Hideko
ReplyDeleteFabulous designed card again Karen, love the colours.xx [aNNie]
ReplyDeleteThe first thing for me is the way you have masked and made a frame for the pretty watercolouring and dry wall tape stencilling Karen, and adore the thistles silhouette just a little over the edge and finished beautifully with the doodling and wavy sentiment. x
ReplyDeleteKaren this is very beautiful great design
ReplyDeleteGr Karin
I always love how you put your cards together. So much interested, great techniques and finishing with the doodling...love it x
ReplyDeleteI always love your cards and this one is another winner!! I thought you used a Rubbernecker stamp to create the border. Love your doodle version!
ReplyDeleteWonderful silhouette stamps against a lovely background - I like the way the stamping slightly extends outside the masked area. Great layering to add interest but still keeping it CAS.
ReplyDeleteA great card and I like all the techniques you used. Often you use the drywall tape and yesterday I bought some and it has an adhesive backing. Is this the right kind? Guess I need an explanation. Thanks, Barb
ReplyDeleteThis is just so pretty!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful background and wonderful images used for this note card.
ReplyDeleteReally pretty and perfect for this time of year.
ReplyDeleteLove your doodled border, Karen, and of course your signature blues mixed with green this time! I love silhouette images, too - this is a great one, and I'm so pleased you shared it with us at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge!
ReplyDeleteFabulous cardvx
ReplyDeleteI love silhouettes and your card.
ReplyDeleteWOW - this is amazing - love the dry wall tape stenciling - and the fabulous silhouette stamping.
ReplyDeleteBlessings

What a wonderful silhouette stamp, Karen! I feel like it was made for you, my friend! I love it stamped on this 2 toned watercolor wash! The added dimension from the stenciling, splattering and doodled frame are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI had to check to see what stamp you used for the line frame..... you didn't. Why should I be surprised? Also, I have painters in my dining room today. They are going to be leaving just a few feet short on their supply of drywall tape. They will have your inspiration to blame. LOL
ReplyDeleteA match made in heave for you, Karen. The watercolor background with a touch of stenciling is fabulous behind those silhouetted teasel. And the doodling sets it all off beautifully. Thanks for sharing your card with us at Addicted to Stamps and More.
ReplyDeletePretty! I love the multiple layers of white.
ReplyDeleteI'll echo those before me: absolutely gorgeous! Perfect background for the oh-so-eye-catching silhouette thistles. The doodled frame is a charming touch! Thank you for sharing this gem in the ATSM gallery!

Gorgeous background, the colors are just perfect for this lovely stenciled silhouette. Love the way you created the doodled frame, you are more brave than I am, I would be so scared to ruin my finished images doing this frame by hand.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing with us at SHOPPING OUR STASH, hope you play again soon.
Hugs,
Maria Rodriguez.
