Rock On

Happy Saturday!
With so many birthdays coming up in the next few months, I was happy to have some time to play and created this masculine, collage style card.

I began by masking off a piece of white cardstock using some Post-It tape.  I first did some acetate inking in the background using just 2 colours of Distress Oxides; Peeled Paint and Bundled Sage, rubbed onto a piece of clear acetate.
I placed the piece inside my Misti, then stamped using the same colours and sponged along the edges to help define the main area.
The Rock Silhouette is a new one for me from Impression Obsession and I stamped that using some black Memento ink, then added the sentiment.
After I removed the tape for masking, I scored a line around the inked area as a frame.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Birthday Cheer

Good Morning and Happy Saturday!
Glad I had time to create a simple, fun card today.

I just picked up this great stamp from Impression Obsession and wanted to play with it.
I immediately thought of colour and thought a rainbow would work perfectly as a backdrop for the silhouette image.
So, I began by masking off my white card front with some Post-It Tape, then sponged on some Distress Oxide inks in a variety of rainbow colours.  Fun to see how easily they blend together.
Next, I splattered with some water to lift the ink in places and to give the background more interest.
I then removed the tape and placed the piece inside my Misti.  I stamped the girl and the sentiment with black Memento ink, then clear embossed them.
I mounted that onto a piece of blue cardstock, then to my white card base.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Nature's Wonders

Welcome
Time for another card for the

I went with a very simple card design.
I began by masking my card front using some Post-It Tape then started add my inks with an old credit card.  I called this technique Swipe Your Credit Card and it is a very simple way to add ink to create a background and give the look of watercolour.
I rubbed the edge of my credit card  into some Peacock Feather Distress Oxide inks that I had diluted with water on my non-stick craft mat, then dragged it from the edges inwards onto my cardstock.  I repeated that process with some Seedless Preserves and some Salty Ocean DOX.
There was still some ink left on my craft mat, so I picked it up using a piece of acetate and pressed that over my inked background to add extra interest.
When the piece was dry, I stamped the trees then I removed the mask and stamped the sentiment using my Misti.

I hope you will come and play along with us.

Wishing You Joy- The Flower Challenge

Welcome and thanks for stopping by.
It's time for another card for

This month we are very lucky to have a prize for the winning card! Michele from
CAS-ual Fridays Stamps has kindly agreed to donate a prize for our winner.
The winning entry will receive a voucher for $25, so they can buy whatever they like.

This is the first Christmas card I made this year.  I went for a non-traditional design with a monoprinted background.  I need to get working on my holiday cards but just haven't been feeling motivated in getting all my Christmas stamps out yet.

So onto my card.
Like I mentioned, I started to create my card background first with a stencil monoprint.
I inked up the back of my stencil with Blueprint Sketch, Peacock Feathers and some Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide ink, sprayed with water and then pressed onto my paper.
When that was dry, I placed the piece into my Misti and stamped the sentiment from Penny Black.
I glued the die-cut in the bottom corner then added some Nuvo Drops to the flower centers.  Mounted it onto some matching blue cardstock and done.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Happy Birthday Cheers!

Welcome
Meet today's card.
Just having some fun playing around with some 'new to me' Art Crayons from Vicki Boutin.
Vicki is a bubbly, happy person and I just love her philosophy and attitude for creating; just try it out....it's just a piece of paper and you never know what you will be able to come up with.
That's what I did for my card.

I rubbed an Art Crayon onto my piece of acetate, sprayed with water and moved the ink a bit with a paint brush to disperse it, then pressed it onto my paper.  Next, I placed a some drywall tape randomly over the background, then rubbed over it with a baby wipe.  The ink gets transferred from one area to another for an interesting look.  I also used one of her script stencils and did the same with that.
When the piece was dry, I placed it into my Misti, stamped the silhouette and the sentiment and clear embossed it to help it pop against the colourful bkg.

Be Joyful

Welcome and Happy Friday.

I've been playing with some new stamps and this is what I came up with.
A simple, CAS card using Distress Oxide inks and a fun sentiment.

I began by inking up a piece of acetate and pressing it onto my white cardstock, keeping it in one corner of my card sort of creating a rainbow effect.
When that was dry, I stamped the alphabet over the inked area to add interest.
Next, I placed the piece inside my Misti, stamped the sentiment and clear heat embossed it to help make it pop.
Lastly, I stamped this wonderful 'Laugh' stamp from Impression Obsession by my friend Dina Kowal. Love the joyful feeling it portrays.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

See the Beauty- The Flower Challenge

Wow...where did the summer go?
Hello and welcome.
Time for some more fun at

Simple one right?
Please come and join us.

So onto my card.
I used a technique that I haven't done for awhile that I called

Basically, you dip an old credit card into some into some ink; in my case that was my Distress Oxides; then swipe the ink over your cardstock until you are happy with the coverage.
Add a bit of water to make the inks flow if you need to.
You can check out my tutorial as well to see what I did.

When I was happy with the bkg., I stamped the flower from Magenta using my Misti with some Versamark ink and white heat embossed it.  I stamped the flowers again in some more of the bkg colour to help fill in some of the dead spaces.
I randomly stamped some graffiti on the edges then finished it off with this wonderful sentiment.

Trees- The CAS Watercolour Challenge

Hello and Welcome.
A new month means a new theme at the

Great theme for this time of year.
I have been so super busy with little time to stamp so I had to whip up a CAS card in a jiffy, and this is what I came up with.

I began by masking my heavy white cardstock with some Post-It tape.  I have been having good luck using it and it removes easily without ripping the edges of my card.
After masking, I placed the piece inside my Misti and stamped the trees with black Memento ink.
Next, I watercoloured in the background using some diluted Distress Oxide ink.  I also did some inking using a sheet of acetate and then stenciled using a piece of drywall tape.  It's amazing how much interest and depth just adding those few extra steps to your background can make.
When it was all dry, I used my ScorPal to score a frame around the scene.  It finishes the inked area off just perfectly by defining the space.
Lastly, I stamped the sentiment.

Be sure and check out what our talented DT's have created this month.
We are also welcoming the talented Ros (Mikey's Mom) this month

Thanks so much for coming by and I hope you get a chance to play along with us.

Celebrating You!

Happy Saturday!
...and a long weekend too.
I'm hoping to get some gardening and some stamping time in.

Here is a super fast card I created using my Distress Oxide inks and some products from Penny Black.  I think it took me about 10 minutes to do this one and I just love this colour combination.

For my card base, I used a piece of acetate inked with DOX inks.
To see my tutorial on this go here:

I die-cut the leaf and when the ink was dry, I placed the card base into my Misti and stamped the sentiment then glued on the leaf.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
Have a great weekend.
