Made with Love

Good Morning and Welcome to the Weekend!!
Always happy when I get some time to play.

I made this card after watching a Friday night live with Vicki Boutin.  She does them every week and they are so inspiring.  You can find her on FB or on YouTube.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began by cutting a 4 x 4 inch piece of white cardstock.  I use a heavy weight 110lb that I get from my local store.  I die-cut a circle from more cardstock and positioned it over my panel to use as a mask.
  • I rubbed the pink crayon from the Warm set of Vicki Boutin Art Crayons onto a piece of acetate, diluted it with water and pressed it over the masked circle.  I repeated that process using some Distress inks next (Picked Raspberry and Spiced Marmalade) until the circle was inked.
  • I got out my Simple Grid stencil from ACLD and rubbed some Picked Raspberry over it (seen in the top left and bottom right)
  • I diluted some more of the Art Crayon and stamped using a Graffiti stamp, Script and the Zig Zag by dipping the stamps into the wet ink.  By doing that, it gives more of a watercolour look.
  • I removed the circle mask and let the piece dry, then placed it into my Misti to stamp the thistles and the sentiment using some Versafine black ink.
  • I splattered with my white Posca pen and then doodled around the circle.
  • I added 3 black gems under the sentiment, then glued the panel onto a heavy white card base.

Here are some of the other panels I created as well so more cards to come.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Feeling Blue

Hello and Welcome
Meet today's card.
I called it Feeling Blue because of the colour and not because of the way I feel although we are in another lockdown as the third wave here in Ontario is proving to be the worst so far!
I always try and stay positive and look ahead to happier days.

So onto my card details...here's what I did.
  • I began with a piece from my stash. I had inked and stenciled it I think.  Since I'm always using my Distress Oxide inks, I'm guessing I used some of my favourite colours....Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean and some Blueprint Sketch.  I placed it into the Letters Embossing folder from Carabelle and ran it through my Cuttlebug.  I sanded off the letters to give it a more unique look.
  • I set that aside and got out my Misti.  Using this new to me stamp called Fragile Foliage, I inked it up with some more of the colours of Distress inks mentioned above, then I die-cut it out.
  • I die-cut the 'Thinking of You' sentiment 3 times on some heavy white cardstock and glued them together for stability.
  • I glued the sanded background onto a heavy white card base, then glued on the flowers and the sentiment.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Happy Earth Day

Happy Earth Day!
Meet today's card using some pieces of inky goodness I had in my stash.
One of the things I love to recycle and use on my cards is bubble wrap.  It gives such fun circle patterns when all inked up and easy to get with all the deliveries we have had of late!

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began by looking through my stash of inky backgrounds.  I tried to choose some that were similar in colour to create a more cohesive looking card.  After I found a few that I thought would work together, I cut them into strips.
  • Strips- The circle one is the bubble wrap that I inked up using some Peeled Paint and Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide ink, sprayed with water and pressed onto my cardstock.  One of the strips is ink that I dragged with an old gift card.  The other one is a resist I did using a stamp from Penny Black.
  • I took a good look at the strips and figured out how I wanted to weave them together.  I found this sketch online and decided to use that as my inspiration.

  • Next I needed to make a base for it all, so using a piece of white cardstock, I embossed it using a folder from Carabelle in my Cuttlebug.  I arranged the strips, then glued them in place.  I did pop dot some of the edges for interest.
  • I die cut a circle and placed that into my Misti.  I stamped the sentiment from the Avery Elle set and coloured in the little heart with my Copic markers.
  • I glued the panel onto a heavy white card base, then pop dotted the sentiment over that in the corner. I added some green Nuvo drops for interest.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Simple Celebrate

Good Morning and Welcome
A super simple card today featuring these fun balloon masks from A Colorful Life Designs.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I decided to make a slimline card, so I cut the main panel  2 3/4 x 7 3/4" (finished size 3 1/2 x 8 1/2").  I placed the balloon mask onto my cardstock and rubbed on some Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide ink with a blending brush.  I cleaned off the mask and continued that process using the different colours of inks varying the heights all across the panel.  (Carved Pumpkin, Festive Berries, Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio, Shaded Lilac)
  • When I finished inking up the panel, I drew in the balloon strings with a black fine line marker.
  • The panel needed something more and I thought dots would be fun, so I took out a pencil and used the eraser on the end to add them using the same above mentioned colours.
  • I placed the panel into my die cutting machine and cut the 'celebrate' from the panel and set that aside.
  • I cut the 'celebrate' 3 more times from some white cardstock and then glued them all together on top of each other.
  • I glued the panel onto a piece of red cardstock and then glued the sentiment back into place.
  • I splattered the panel with my white Posca pen and add the whit detail on the balloons.

Here are the masks I used:

Bubble Wrap Resist

Hello and Welcome
I hope you are all keeping well and safe.
Here in Ontario, Canada, we are into our THIRD wave.  It is such a scary time and the vaccines are rolling out very slowly.  I'm glad for the rollout to be happening, but it is so frustrating that it is taking so long.  I'm generally a patient person but I want to get on with it!  I guess understanding the overwhelming numbers in the system have to appreciated though.

I also want to say a BIG THANKS to all of you that are visiting my blog and always leaving me such encouraging comments.  I do have to apologize for my late responses or visits returned to your blogs.  I am so busy with my 5 little daycare kids (one being  baby) that it keeps me jumping.  By the end of the day, I am tired out and don't usually have time to spend on the computer.
I promise I will do my best to answer or get back to you as soon as I can!!

Anyways...I made this fun card.  I have to say, having a creative outlets has really helped in these times.

So meet today's card.  A simple mixed media one inspired by Vicki Boutin.  She has FB and YouTube lives every Friday night and has done for a very long time.  Her approach to mixed media is 'try the things'.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began with a piece of mixed media paper.  Using a piece of bubble wrap, I rubbed some Versamark ink over it and pressed it onto the paper.  I took some white embossing powder and heat embossed it as I wanted to create a resist.
  • Next, I got out the Warm set of Vicki Boutin's Art Crayons and a piece of acetate.  I rubbed the crayons directly onto the acetate and diluted with some water using a paintbrush.  I pressed the acetate onto the panel and dragged it down to cover the paper.
  • I continued that process until the whole panel was filled with colour.  I set that aside to dry and repeated that process on another white scrap of paper.  I used the leftover wet ink to add some splatters with my paintbrush.
  • I carefully wiped away the colour from the white embossed areas using a baby wipe.  It left a distressed background that I loved.
  • I stamped the Daisy Stem flower from Rubber Stampede onto the small paper panel with some Versafine Clair Noir and clear heat embossed it.  I then glued that over another small piece of white cardstock to give it a bit of a border.
  • I mounted the dots inked piece onto some white, then onto a heavy white card base.  I pop dotted the flower to the side,

Thanks so very much for coming by and taking a look.

Congrats

Welcome
Meet today's card.
A super simple one for congratulations of a new baby.
I thought this cute image from Old Island Stamp Company would work great for this.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I cut a panel from a piece of heavy white cardstock and then positioned the Marvelous Rectangle mask from A Colorful Life Designs over that.  (they are so awesome to use instead of taping it all off)
  • I took out the Tie Dye set from Hero Arts and using one of the stamps, I inked it up with some Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide ink and randomly stamped inside the masked area.  I repeated that process using some Twisted Citron and then some Broken China until the area was covered.
  • Next, I placed the stamped piece into my Misti and I took out this sweet birdhouse stamp called Community from The Old Island Stamp Company and stamped it with some Versafine Clair ink over the background.
  • I stamped the birdhouse again onto some white cardstock, fussy cut it out and then watercoloured it with a paintbrush using some diluted DOX inks with the same colours mentioned above.
  • Using my Misti again, I stamped the 'Congrats' with some Versafine Clair and clear heat embossed it.
  • I glued the inked panel to a piece of blue cardstock and then to a heavy card base.  I pop dotted the watercoloured birdhouse back onto the image.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
