Bloom

Hello and Welcome
I wanted to play with this newly released stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called Summer Flowers.
It is such a pretty stencil.
I decided to use just the flowers for my card.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I wanted to think of a way to add interest to my card, yet keep it pretty clean and simple.  I decided to add some scoring to help with that.  First I scored a diagonal line across the panel from the top left to bottom right using my ScorPal and then scored another line using my ScorBug.  The Scorbug is used on the ScorPal but added perforated dots instead of a solid scoring line.
  • Next, I scored vertical lines along the left hand side of my card...they are hard to see from the picture.
  • I masked off the right hand side along the scored area, then masked the stencil off around the largest flower because as I mentioned above, I wanted to just use the flowers from the stencil.
  • I inked up the center of the flower with some Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink and the inked the rest of the flower with some Carved Pumpkin DOX ink.
  • I masked around the smaller flowers and inked them up with the same colours of inks, moving the stencil around positioning the flowers in different areas.
  • I splattered the flowers with my white Posca pen and set aside to dry.
  • I inked up a scrap of white cardstock with the same colours to cut out my sentiment.  I cut the sentiment 3 more times on white scraps and glued them all together.
  • I glued the finished panel onto a piece of orange cardstock, then onto a heavy white card base.
  • Finally, I glued the sentiment to the left side after splattering it with white to match the flowers.

Here is the stencil I used:

  2. This is really bright and summery in pink and orange Karen using these pretty flowers on this new stencil and also lots of interest with the scored lines diagonally across and down one side which look great, and I love the added die cut sentiment layered for more depth, and finished perfectly with the added white spatters. x
