Hello and Welcome

Meet the newly released stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called

Big Dogs

So many great pet stencils to use this month.

So, here's what I did to create my card.

• I began by inking up the Big Dogs stencil with some black ink, spacing out each image across my cardstock.
• I masked the dogs and then using the Marvelous Masks Circles, I added these Distress Oxide ink colours around the dogs; Fossilized Amber, Ripe Persimmon and Picked Raspberry.
• Leaving the Circles stencil in place, I used a black fine line marker to trace around the circles. It really helped define each dog in their spaces.
• I placed my card front panel into my Misti to stamp the sentiment.
• I glued the panel onto a piece of black cardstock and then onto an A2 sized card base.

It's Playtime

Welcome

Ready for some playtime with one of the newly released stencils for July from A Colorful Life Designs called

DOGS PLAYING

If you are an animal lover, you will have to check out the amazing lineup of pet stencils this month.

So, here's what I did to create my card.

• I cut a piece of white cardstock and placed one of the dogs from the Dogs Playing stencil onto my paper and inked with some black ink.
• I repeated that process until I had inked 4 dogs onto my card front and I used some Lumberjack Plaid Distress Oxide to add the red ball.
• Next, I cut the stenciled piece on an angle and glued a black and a red strip along the edge. 
• I cut another piece of white cardstock and stamped the sentiment into the corner with my Misti. I glued that onto a piece of black cardstock and then onto an A2 sized card base.
• To finish off my card, I used some foam tape to pop the stenciled part above the sentiment Unfortunately, it is hard to see that in the photo.

Good Morning

Meet just one of the newly released stencils for June from A Colorful Life Designs called:

AIRY BUBBLES

Who wouldn't love some bubbles for their birthday!!

This is how I created a simple card.

• I began by placing the Airy Bubbles stencil over a piece of white cardstock and inked it up with some Ripe Persimmon Distress Oxide ink and some Picked Raspberry DOX ink.
• I removed the stencil and cut the circle aperture from the middle part of my cardstock. 
• Using the same die, I cut it with some scraps of pink and orange cardstock and set aside.
• I die cut the sentiment once with some white and then 4 times with the black.  I glued them together, stacking them up and off setting the black to help highlight the sentiment.
• I glued my card front panel onto a piece of orange cardstock and then onto a white A2 sized card base.
• I fit the orange and pink cardstock pieces back into place inside the aperture and then glued the sentiment over that.
• To finish my card off, I added 3 black gems around the sentiment.

Wrap Around Father's Day Card

It's my turn to host the TLC (Technique Lovers Challenge) again over at Splitcoast Stampers and for this challenge, we are making a

Wrap Around Card

So often the back of our cards are just left plain so I find this technique adds a lot of interest.

I used this technique to make a Father's Day card for my husband.

So, here's what you need to do to make one.

• I began by cutting a piece of white cardstock that measured 11 x 4 1/4 inches to make the base. Score at 5 1/2"
• I cut another piece of white cardstock 6 x 4 1/4" to use as the 'wrap around' portion of my card. 
• I placed the Lacy Edge stencil from A Colorful Life Designs over the wrap and inked it up with some Peacock Feathers and some Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide ink.
• I splattered with my white Posca pen and set aside to dry.
• I die cut 3 circles; one white, one blue and a green one.  I stamped the sentiment on the white one in my Misti and glued them all together.
• Next, I scored my 'wrap around' piece at 3" and glued that onto the white card base.
• I cut 2 green strips at 1/4" thick and glued those along the edges of my stenciled piece just to make it look more finished off.
• Finally, I used some foam tape to add the sentiment over to the side.

Today's card is a combination of 2 new for JUNE stencils called:

AIRY BUBBLES and PATTERNED NOISE

Here's what I did to create this card.

• I placed the AIRY BUBBLES stencil over a piece of white cardstock and inked it up with some Peacock Feathers and some Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide ink.
• I lifted the stencil off and placed the PATTERNED NOISE stencil over the bubbles and inked just in some areas around the bubbles with the same colours.
• I took a scrap piece of white cardstock and inked it up with some of the same inks, then used that to die cut the sentiment.
• I die cut the sentiment 4 times with more white cardstock and glued them all together, stacking them and then glued the inked one on the top.  I did offset them a a bit to help it show up better against the background.
• I glued my card front panel onto a piece of pale green cardstock and then onto a white A2 sized card base.
• I glued the sentiment across the front and added 2 silver gems on either side of the sentiment to finish off my card.

I love this sweet image and wanted to use it to make a card.

Meet the new for June stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called:

PATTERNED NOISE

So, here's what I did to create my card.

• I cut a piece of white cardstock and got out the Patterned Noise stencil. I laid the stencil flat over a paper towel and rubbed Ripe Persimmon and some Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink directly over the whole back of the stencil.  
• Next, I sprayed with some Rubbing Alcohol and then pressed the stencil onto white cardstock. I lifted the stencil off and let the piece dry.
• I placed the stenciled panel into my Misti to stamp the sweet image and the sentiment along the bottom.
• Using a wet paintbrush, I added some of the Ripe Persimmon DOX ink to the clothes.
• I glued the finished card front onto a piece of white cardstock, then black and then onto a white A2 sized card base.
• To finish my card off, I added 2 black gems on either side of the sentiment.

It's been such a fun month creating with the new stencils from A Colorful Life Designs.

So I decided to make another card featuring the new for JUNE stencil called:

Rope Trellis

Here's what I did.

• I placed the Rope Trellis stencil over a piece of white cardstock and inked it up with some Broken China Distress Oxide ink.
• I shifted the stencil over and inked it up again with some Salty Ocean DOX ink to create the fun pattern.
• Next, I used a blue fine line marker and added the straight lines over the pattern.
• I die cut a white square using a square stitched die and glued it right over the middle of my card front.  
• I looked through my scraps and found this navy cardstock. I cut it into strips and glued it around the edges of the white square in the middle.
• While that dried, I die cut a white circle and stamped the sentiment onto it in my Misti.  I glued that onto another larger navy die cut circle.  
• I glued my finished card panel onto a piece of white cardstock, then navy and then onto an A2 sized white card base.
• I added the circle die cut sentiment over the middle and finished off my card by adding 3 navy gems under it.

Here is a fun little card I made using the newly mid-month release stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called:

PATTERNED NOISE

Here's what I did to create my card.

• I cut a piece of white cardstock and using a Dot Circle die, I cut 2 circles right in the middle of my cardstock.
• I placed the panel into my Misti and stamped the birthday greeting over the die cut circles.
• Next, I placed the Patterned Noise stencil over the stamped panel and then inked just around the sentiment with some Distress Oxide inks in these colours....Wilted Violet, Cracked Pistachio, Picked Raspberry, Ripe Persimmon, Peacock Feathers and some Fossilized Amber.
• I glued the inked panel onto a piece of white cardstock and then I used a black fine line marker to fill in the areas of the sentiment that were over the die cut circles. Hope that makes sense!
• I glued my card front onto a piece of purple cardstock and then onto a 4 1/4" white square card base.
• The last thing I did was to add 3 black gems around the sentiment.

Today's card features another one of the new for JUNE stencils from A Colorful Life Designs called:

Rope Trellis

Here's what I did to get the look.

• I placed the Rope Trellis stencil over a piece of white cardstock and inked it up with some Broken China Distress Oxide ink.
• I cleaned the stencil off, shifted it to the right and inked again with some Wilted Violet DOX ink.
• Next, I turned the stencil totally sideways and inked again with more of the Wilted Violet DOX ink to create this fun woven looking background.
• While that dried, I die cut the Flower Squares with some white cardstock and backed them with a small piece of clear vellum so they would show up better against the background.
• I placed the stenciled card front into my Misti to stamp the sentiment and glued the flowers across the front.
• I glued the finished panel onto a piece of white cardstock, then purple and then onto a white A2 sized card base.

I have to begin by saying how fun this card was to make.

Meet the new for JUNE stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called:

AIRY BUBBLES

This is how I created my card.

• I began by first cutting a piece of white cardstock and I die cut 3 Dot Circles of different sizes, along the outside edges of my cardstock.
• Next, I masked around the circles and then placed Airy Bubbles stencil over it and inked with some Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink.
• I moved the masks to the other side of the circles and then inked again with some Wilted Violet DOX ink.
• I removed the stencil and all the masks and placed the piece into my Misti to stamp the Grid first and then the sentiment across the middle of the panel.
• I glued my finished card front panel onto a piece of white, then purple cardstock and then onto a white A2 sized card base.
• I added 3 black gems around the sentiment to finish my card off.

I decided to make a card by combining 2 new for JUNE stencils from A Colorful Life Designs called:

VIBRANT SUNSET and LAPPING WAVES

So, here's what I did to create my card.

• I cut a piece of white cardstock and placed the Vibrant Sunset stencil over it.  I masked off between the waves and the sun and I inked up the sun with some Fossilized Amber and some Ripe Persimmon Distress Oxide ink.
• Next, I moved the masks to cover over the sunshine. I inked up the waves with some Tumbled Glass DOX ink, shifted the stencil and inked again with some Broken China DOX ink.
• Leaving the stencil ink place, I put the Lapping Waves stencil over it and inked with some Salty Ocean DOX ink. By adding the additional inking, the waves had so much more movement and interest.
• I placed my card front panel into my Misti to stamp the sentiment, centering it under the sun.
• I glued my card front onto a piece of white cardstock and then onto some blue and then onto a white A2 sized card base.
• I added 2 black gems on either side of the sentiment to finish my card off.

Meet 2 of the new for JUNE stencils from A Colorful Life Designs called:

Lapping Waves and Two Sea Panels

So, here's what I did to create my card.

• I started by creating the sailboat panel first. I inked up my Gel Plate with some Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide ink, placed one the images from the  Two Sea Panels Stencil onto the plate and rubbed my cardstock over that to transfer the image.
• I trimmed it down, glued it onto a piece of white cardstock and set that aside.
• For the background, I inked up my Gel Plate again with some Mermaid Lagoon and some Uncharted Mariner DOX ink, then placed the Lapping Waves stencil onto my plate and rubbed to transfer the pattern.  I lifted the stencil and rubbed my paper over it again, creating this fun background.
• I glue the waves background onto a piece of white cardstock, then blue and then onto an A2 sized white card base.
• I used some foam tape to pop the boat panel up over to the side.  
• I die cut the sentiment and glued it onto the other side to finish my card off.

Let's Eat Cake

Hello

This month at A Colorful Life Designs, some of the designs are all about cake, party and balloons.

I decided to combine 2 of the new stencils called:

LAYERED CELEBRATION CAKE and STAR STREAMERS

So, here's what I did to create my card.

• I began by die cutting a piece of white cardstock with the Postage Collage Die.  
• I masked off the squares and then placed the STAR STREAMERS stencil over that and inked it up with some Lumberjack Plaid Distress Oxide ink.
• I used the ink left on my blending brush and added some ink to better define the squares of the die.
• I placed the LAYERED CELEBRATION CAKE stencil over another piece of white cardstock and inked that with some Aged Mahogany and some Rusty Hinge Distress Oxide inks.  I used Lumberjack plaid for the candles, Black Soot for the base and some Mustard Seed for the flames.
• Next, I fussy cut the cake out and set it aside.
• I stamped the sentiment in the bottom corner of my die cut postage card front than glued it onto a piece of red cardstock, then onto a white A2 sized card base.
• I used some foam tape to pop the cake up over the background.
