Big Birthday

Welcome
This is going to be a very exciting month with all the new releases at A Colorful Life Designs.
So many great designs with so many possibilities.
So meet the newly released stencil called:

Here's what I did to create this fun and simple card.
  • I placed the SPOTLIGHT stencil over a piece of white cardstock and inked it up with some Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide ink.
  • I wiped the stencil off and shifted it, then inked again with some Blueprint Sketch DOX ink. It gave a fun, layered look to the background.
  • Next, I cut the sentiment right from the middle of my stenciled panel and I cut the word shadow from a piece of white cardstock. The sentiment was a bit lost against the background, so I inked over it with some more of the Cracked Pistachio ink and then I used a blue marker to trace over the letters.
  • I glued my stenciled card front to a piece of pale blue cardstock and then onto a white A2 sized card base.
  • I used some foam tape to pop the sentiment up over the background, matching it up with the pattern.

Here is the stencil I used:

Spotlight Debossing

Welcome
It's my turn to host the TLC over at Splitcoast Stampers this week.
The technique we will be trying out I'm calling:

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began by looking through my coloured cardstock until I found 2 complimentary colours.
  • Using a rectangle die, I cut from both pieces.
  • I took out this flower Embossing Folder and placed the blue sheet down first and fitted the small green die cut inside that and ran it through my machine inside the folder. BE SURE AND USE THE DEBOSS SIDE OF YOUR FOLDER.
  • I glued the pieces onto a base, matching up the embossed pattern, debossed side up.
  • Holding my black ink pad flat against the surface, I covered the whole card with black ink and set that aside to dry.
  • I die cut the sympathy sentiment in black and glued that onto the white word shadow.
  • I glued the card front panel onto a piece of green cardstock and then onto a white A2 sized card base.
  • Lastly, I used some foam tape to add the sentiment across the front of my card and added a black gem to dot the 'i'.

Thanks a lot for coming by and taking a look.

One Stencil~ 2 Cards

Good Morning
Today, I am again playing with the newly released stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called
Both cards use the same colours and technique on my Gel Plate.

So, here's what I did to create my cards.

  • I began by getting out my Gel Plate. I like to use my Distress Oxide inks on my plate....super easy cleanup.  So, I got out my Cracked Pistachio and my Broken China DOX pads and pressed the ink directly onto the plate. Using my brayer, I blended the colours together.
  • I placed one of the feathers from the Three Feathers stencil onto my plate and then rubbed over it with a piece of white cardstock to pick up the print.  YOU CAN SEE THAT IN CARD #2
  • I removed the stencil and then rubbed over the plate again with another piece of white cardstock. CARD #1
  • I took CARD #1 and stenciled the feather using the same ink colours right over to the side of the print.
  • I stamped the same sentiment on both cards and then added them to white A2 sized card bases.

Here is the stencil I used:

Let the Music Play

Hello and Good Morning
Today' card features another one of the newly released stencils for March from A Colorful Life Designs called;

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I found some fun cardstock papers in my stash that I had picked up at the Dollar Store awhile ago but hadn't used. I began by picking out the paper I wanted to use for the cover and die cut the little album cover first.
  • I placed the new MUSIC stencil over the cover and inked it up with some Uncharted Mariner Distress Oxide ink. I splattered with my white Posca pen just over the sentiment and set aside to dry.
  • Next, I die cut the record from a piece of black cardstock and glued the blue middle die cut to the center of it. (You can't see it in the photo, but the die actually puts the grooves in the record)
  • I picked out another piece of the cardstock and glued it to a piece of white and then a piece of blue and the onto a white A2 sized card base.
  • I glued the record album cover over the background and slipped the record into the sleeve.

Here is the stencil I used:

Listen to the Music

Welcome
Today's monochrome card features the new for March stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I got out a piece of linen paper, it has texture and gives a bit of a mottled look when inking. I used the MUSIC stencil and inked it with some Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink across the top part of my white card base.
  • Next, I placed the piece into my Misti to stamp the flowers and all the details around the edges of my card using Uncharted Mariner Distress Oxide ink.  I also stamped the sentiment in the open area above the flowers.
  • I used the ink left on my blending brush and added more colour just across the middle of my card front to add more interest and take down the stark white.
  • I glued the piece onto white cardstock, then a pale mauve  and then onto a white A2 sized card base.

Here is the stencil I used:

Beautiful Moments

Welcome
Today's card features a lovely new stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called
It's a nice one and offers some good layering options.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began by finding this piece of blue and white patterned paper in my stash. I placed the shadow feather from the Three Feathers stencil over to the left hand side of my paper and inked it up with some Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink.
  • I moved the stencil over, positioning another one of the feather images over the shadow and inked again with some Cracked Pistachio and some Salty Ocean DOX ink.
  • Next I placed the panel into my Misti to stamp the sentiment along the side with some Versafine Clair black ink.
  • Using my black Posca pen, I splattered just over the feather image to add more interest.
  • I glued my finished card front onto a piece of white cardstock and then a piece of blue and then onto a white A2 sized card base.
  • To finish my card off, I added some black gems around the sentiment.

Many Wishes

Welcome
I had fun playing with this new stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called
I decided to make a 'collage' style card using the stencil.

Here's what I did to create my card.
  • I looked through some of my discarded paper pieces and found this one I had done as a monoprint. (Monoprint- when I have inked over a stencil, there is always ink left behind on the stencil. Instead of wiping it all off, I will spray with water and press onto another sheet of paper to transfer the design)
  • I placed one the the feathers from the THREE FEATHERS stencil over the left hand side of my cardstock and inked it up with some Cracked Pistachio and some Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink.
  • I wanted to add more interest to the background, so I stamped the Script along the right hand side to help balance out the design.
  • Next, I die cut a circle from white cardstock and stamped the sentiment over it using my Misti.
  • I glued my card front onto a piece of white cardstock, then blue and then onto an A2 sized card base.
  • I used some foam tape to pop the sentiment over the background and added 3 black gems to finish my card off.

Here is the stencil I used:

Joyful Music

Good Morning
This month at A Colorful Life Designs, some of the stencil designs revolve around music, the universal language.
So meet the new for March stencil called:

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I used an older stencil called Dot Circle to start my background and I inked that with some Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide ink.
  • I removed that stencil and placed the notes from the Music stencil across my card base and inked it with some Salty Ocean DOX ink.
  • I placed the panel into my Misti to stamp the musician with some black ink.
  • I took the Music stencil again and inked the 'music' word along the bottom with some Salty Ocean and some Black Soot DOX ink. (by using the black ink along the bottom of the word helped ground the sentiment)
  • I used some more of the Salvaged Patina DOX to add a shadow around the outside edge of my card front.
  • Using my black Posca pen, I splattered just around the bottom edge of the image.
  • I glued my card front onto a piece of white cardstock, then a piece of navy and then onto a white A2 sized card base.

Here are the stencils I used:

Good Morning
I want you to meet the newly released stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called
I used it with a wonderful older stencil called

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I placed the PAINT STROKES stencil over a piece of white cardstock and inked from top to bottom using these Distress Oxide ink colours:  Ripe Persimmon; Picked Raspberry; Cracked Pistachio; Shaded Lilac and Salvaged Patina. It made for a fun and colourful background.
  • Next, I placed the BIG MUSIC stencil over the background and inked with some Uncharted Mariner DOX ink.
  • I placed the panel into my Misti to stamp the sentiment across the top.
  • Using my white Posca pen, I splattered o9ver the whole panel to add some interest.
  • I glued the dried panel onto a piece of purple cardstock and then onto a white A2 sized card base to finish off my card..

I'm Just Tuning In

Good Morning and Happy March!!
So glad we are one step closer to Spring.

Today's card is a fun one featuring just one of the newly released March stencils from A Colorful Life Designs called:

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I placed the Piano Keys stencil over a piece of white cardstock and inked it up with some Black Soot Distress Oxide ink.
  • I removed the stencil and placed the panel into my Misti to stamp the sentiment along the bottom.
  • Next, I stamped the little radio in my Misti and then fussy cut it out.  I used my Copic markers to colour the radio.  I thought that the red was a nice contrast with the black and white theme.
  • I die cut a black and white circle and glued those together, then I glued the radio over the circles.
  • I glued my card front onto a piece of white cardstock, then a piece of black and then onto an A2 white card base.
  • I used some foam tape to pop the radio circle over to the side.

Here is the stencil I used:

YAY for You!

Welcome
This card is way more simple then it looks using the newly released stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called:
This card really shows the versatility and simple designs created by moving a stencil and overlapping the pattern.

Here's what I did to create my card.
  • I placed the Celtic Mask over a piece of white cardstock and inked it up with some Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink.
  • I wiped the stencil off, then shifted it over and inked again with some Uncharted Mariner DOX ink.
  • I splattered over the stenciling with my white Posca pen and set aside to dry.
  • I die cut the 'YAY' letters from a piece of pale blue cardstock and added some white details to the letters to add to the interest.
  • I die cut the word shadow right from the middle of my stenciled card base and also from a piece of dark blue cardstock. I glued them together, offsetting a bit to show the darker behind and to give it a bit of contrast.
  • I glued my card front onto a piece of white cardstock, then onto blue and then onto a white A2 sized card base.
  • I used some foam tape to pop my sentiment back into place, matching the pattern.

Top of the Mornin' to You

Good morning
For today's card, I combined 2 new stencils from A Colorful Life Designs called:
These stencils make for some fun St. Patrick's Day cards.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I masked off half of a piece of white cardstock down the center and placed the Celtic Knots stencil over the paper and inked it up with some Rustic Wilderness Distress Oxide ink along the left side.
  • I removed the mask and placed the Clover Frame stencil along the right hand side and inked that with some Cracked Pistachio DOX ink.
  • Leaving that stencil in place, I went over it with the Celtic Knot and inked with more of the Rustic Wilderness to give more interest to the clover and also to tie the left hand side into the right.
  • There was a lot of white space left, so I used the eraser on the end of a pencil in fill it in with some green dots.
  • I placed the stenciled panel into my Misti to stamp the sentiment. **You can't really see it in the photo, but I scored a line between the 2 sections with my ScoreBug**
  • I glued the panel onto a piece of white cardstock, then dark green, then onto an A2 sized white card base.
  • To finish my card off, I added some black gems around the sentiment.

Here are the stencils I used:
