Close at Heart

Welcome
Meet today's card.
A simple one featuring this beautiful Nautilus stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.
It made such a great background to feature this lovely sentiment.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began by cutting a piece of white cardstock and laid the Nautilus stencil over that.
  • Starting from the center, I inked it up using some Broken China Distress Oxide ink, then some Peacock Feathers and finally some Blueprint Sketch around the outside edges.
  • I splattered with lots of water to lift some of the ink and add interest, then set aside to dry.
  • After it dried, I placed it into my Misti and stamped the sentiment from Impression Obsession with some black Versafine Clair ink.  It just worked perfectly over the stenciled bkg.
  • Next, I cut my card front panel with a stitched die and cut a window opening to create a frame.
  • I pop dotted the white frame over finished panel and glued that onto a piece of navy cardstock, then onto a heavy white card base.
  • I added 3 navy gems right under the sentiment to add more interest.

Starburst

Welcome
Today's card features lots of stars using a recent purchase I made.
The Bokeh Stars from Taylored Expressions was a fun one to play with.
It is a 3 part layering stencil and so easy to use.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I got out my stencil mat and placed the #1 stencil onto my cardstock and ink it up with some Carved Pumpkin and some Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink. The stencil mat has a bumper around the corner so it is easy to line up each consecutive stencil as you overlay them.
  • I removed that stencil and replaced it with #2 and inked that up with some Peacock Feathers and some Blueprint Sketch DOX ink.
  • Lastly came stencil #3 that I inked with some Cracked Pistachio DOX ink.  These inks layer so nicely over one another.
  • Using my white Posca pen, I splattered all over the front and let dry.
  • When it was dry, I used this die cut combo and cut the outline piece right from the center of the stenciled panel.  I cut the sentiment from a piece of navy cardstock and glued them together.
  • To assemble, I glued the star panel onto a piece of navy cardstock, then onto a heavy white card base.  I pop dotted the sentiment back into place and then added 3 navy gems to finish it all off.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Simple Notecard For You

Welcome
Meet today's simple card using some of my favourite flowers stamps and some stenciling of course.
Just a fun one I made while playing with my supplies.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I cut a square panel of white cardstock that was 3 1/2".  I placed the Curved Sweep stencil from A Colorful Life Designs over my panel.
  • Beginning at the top, I applied some Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink. Next, I added some Fossilized Amber and then finally some Kitsch Flamingo along the bottom.
  • I removed the stencil and placed the square into my Misti to stamp the flowers along the bottom and then the small sentiment tucked right in beside.
  • I splattered just over the flowers with my black Posca pen.
  • When it was dry, I glued the inked panel onto a piece of black cardstock to help accentuate the flower silhouettes, then onto a piece of pink and finally, onto a square notecard that was 4 1/4".

Under the Sea

Hello and Welcome
Today's card is featuring this beautiful stencil called Big Seaweed.
It is part of a series of stencils released this month featuring a beach/ocean theme.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I cut a white cardstock panel and laid the Big Seaweed stencil over my paper.
  • I decided to ink it up using some Brusho, so I sprinkled a few onto a piece of acetate, sprayed with water to activate, then using a baby wipe, I inked over the stencil by dipping the wipe into the wet ink and pressing over the stencil.  The Brushos give such vibrant colours to anything.  Be sure not to use a lot as they go a long way.
  • When the panel was dry, I used a blending brush to add some Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink and then I splattered with my black Posca pen.
  • Next, I used a circle die and cut it from the center of the inked panel.
  • I placed the circle into my Misti and stamped the sentiment near the bottom of the circle.
  • I stamped the little fish from a set by Lawn Fawn, die cut them out and coloured them with the left over Brushos on the acetate sheet and a wet paintbrush.
  • I glued the stenciled piece onto a heavy white card base, then pop dotted the circle back into place.
  • I pop dotted the little fish over the sentiment as well.
