Lined in Gold

Time for another card?  This one is done using stamps from Penny Black for the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast today (photo below).  The sites they find to be inspired by are amazing.  There is always something to get your creative juices flowing.
I started my card by stamping the poinsettia twice, then after colouring with Copic markers, I cut it out and lined the edges with a gold pen.  I mounted the pieces together then added the pearls to the center.  I mounted all of that onto an embossed bkg.
I am adding my card to the Simon Says challenge.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Let it Snow

Hello Friday!  Time seems to be flying these days.  Still plugging away at getting my Christmas cards done and here is one for today as I am playing along with the Let is Snow challenge at Splitcoast.
The image from Serendipity is stamped with black Memento twice then one of the pieces is cut to make a tag.  After colouring the tag with Copic markers, I pop dotted it over the scene to give a highlighted effect to my card.  Lastly, I stamped the greeting then added some stars for fun.
I am also adding my card to the Simon Says challenge (anything goes) and the tag challenge at Serendipity Stamps.
Thanks for coming by and taking a look.

Holiday Time

Less then one month till Christmas...can't believe it.  I had such a fun time making today's card.  I am using my new bkg. stamp from Penny Black called Jolly Chant stamped in red Memento ink.  I then cut a snowflake from the center of my card and removed it.  Next I cut 4 more of the snowflake shapes from white cardstock, glued them all together adding the stamped one on the top.   I glued that back into the area I had cut from the front of my card to give a raised snowflake.  I hope you can see the cool effect it created on the front of my card.  I am adding my card to the Simon Says challenge (anything goes).
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

OLW168- Sparkle and Shine

Welcome to another OLW Challenge- One Layer Wednesday.
This week the challenge is:

Sparkle and Shine- create a card with something shiny or a bit of bling on it.

I started creating my card by first applying 2 masks to the bottom of my card.  I then laid a stencil over my cardstock and sponged on Distress inks.  I removed the masks and had a nice white crisp area to stamp my sentiment and add some more snowflake onto.  I added some lovely icy looking crystals to the center of my snowflakes to give it a bit of bling.

OLW168 Rules

1.  Create a one layer card.  This is defined as a single layer of cardstock folded in half.  No other
     layers allowed.

2.  Create a card of your choice adding some sparkle or bling.  Add a link to your card.  Remember to
keep embellishments to a minimum and no ADDITIONAL layers of cardstock.

3.  Post your card online and link it to the InLinkz button below.  If you link to your blog, please link to
specific post and not your blog main page.

4.  Have Fun!  Looking forward to seeing what you create.

Ombre Snowflake

Here is a card I made for the Getting Ready for Christmas Challenge at Splitcoast.  I was very pleased with how this card turned out with it's ombre effect.  I began by inking up a piece of cardstock with Distress inks, cut the piece on an angle then cut that into three pieces.  I created the snowflake by die cutting the snowflake 4 times then glueing them together to give the snowflake a chipboard appearance.
It has a real presence on the card.
I am adding this card to the Cas on Sunday challenge (winter theme).
Thanks for coming by and taking a look.

Non-Traditional Christmas

No red....no green....no gold.  Just blues with a hint of purple on this icy feeling card I made to show you today.  It was a simple layout that I cased from the challenge at Splitcoast.  I created the main panel by pressing my Distress ink pads onto my non-stick craft sheet, spraying with water then running my paper through it to pick up the colours and help them blend together.  I added the popped up sentiment and the snowflakes for a non-traditional looking card.
I am linking this card up with the CAS on Sunday challenge (winter theme).
Hope you are making progress with your Christmas cards and thanks for taking a peek.

Deck the Halls

Here is the card I made to play along with the Featured Stamper challenge at Splitcoast today.  This cute Santa is a digi image from Birdie Brown that I have had such fun playing with.
I printed out Santa, cut him out then coloured him with Copic markers.  He is popped into and behind a little frame then mounted onto an embossed piece with pop dots.  The sentiment is a digi also, love the font.  The finishing touch was to add a sparkle pom-pom to his hat for a fun and happy card.
I am adding this to the challenge at Curtain Call.
Thanks so much for popping in for a peek.

Snowy Days

Good morning....are you busy creating Christmas cards as the big day gets closer?  In the past, I ran out of time but this year I was determined to start earlier.  So, here is today's card.  I was inspired by the challenge at Splitcoast from a Pinterest board featured there (pic below).
I sponged Distress inks (what else eh?) over the snowflake mask and added faux stitching around the edges to create my main panel.  I have really enjoyed playing with this great mask from Simon Says Stamps.  I stamped my sentiment then added the snowflake and the half pearls.
Thanks for coming by.

Merry Little Christmas

I am in full swing now with making Christmas cards.  Today's card was inspired by the challenge at Splitcoast; Have a Heart.  This sweet little image is a digital from Jellypark that I printed, cut out then coloured with Copics.  I wanted to add her to the card front near the sentiment but the card needed something more so I added some paint splatters for interest.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.  Have a great wknd.

Snowflake Resist

Red and white have such an visual impact together.  Today at Splitcoast, the challenge is to choose a resist technique to use on our card.  My card features a basic resist by first stamping my snowflakes using Versamark and embossing with white.  I then rubbed Distress inks in various shades of red onto my piece.  Then using a dry cloth, I rubbed over the piece to remove excess ink and reveal the snowflakes underneath.  Finally, I speckled some white acrylic paint over the top and mounted my piece onto an embossed bkg.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a peek.

Celebrate With Friends

Friends.....what would we do without them?  The holidays are such a wonderful time to remind our friends how much they mean to us and being able to celebrate with them is an extra bonus. Little Mimi and her polar bear friend are so cute together.
Here is a card I made using stamps from Penny Black for the holidays.  I am playing along with the Colour Challenge at Splitcoast today.  I started making my card by masking off an oval and rubbing Distress inks over a snowflake mask.  When dry, I removed the masked area and stamped the sentiment then added a doodled line.  I stamped Mimi, coloured her and her friend with Copic markers then after cutting them out, pop dotted them on my card front for interest.  I added a sparkle pom-pom to her hat for extra cuteness.

Nature's Music

Morning.  Today at Splitcoast, the CAS challenge is to make a card inspired by music.  There is nothing sweeter then the sounds of nature to soothe the soul.  Here is what I came up with.
I love to play with my Distress inks and recently, I purchased this snowflake mask so just had to play with it.  I partially inked the bkg. after I printed out the digital sentiment onto my card front.  I added the bird which I covered in Glossy Accents, mounted with pop dots and added the pearls.
I am also adding my card to the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge and the challenge at Curtain Call.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Christmas Time

Today, I was inspired by the challenge at Splitcoast and made another Christmas card.  I love this peaceful winter farm scene from Serendipity as it just lends itself to making a great card easily.
I stamped the panel and just coloured in parts of the scene leaving the areas that would be snowy white.
The sentiment is so great, a digital from Pink Petticoat.  After the scene panel was mounted on scrap of red, it was pop dotted onto the card for interest.
I am also playing along with the Serendipity Stamp (use your scraps) Challenge.
Thanks for coming by and taking a look today.  I truly appreciate it!

Pretty in Pink

Ombre....it's everywhere.  I am playing along with the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast (pic below from Nunu House miniatures) and wanted to try my hand at the ombre look.  I started by stamping the heart border from Penny Black (linked below) along the bottom , masked off the lower section then sponged on different shades of reds and pinks onto my card front.  After removing the mask, I scored a line and added the twine under that.  I added the sentiment with pop dots for interest.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

What a Happy Day!

Glad to be taking a break from making Christmas cards today and playing along with the Happy Birthday challenge at Splitcoast.  This was a quick and easy card made by 'splatting' my Distress stain onto my card front.  The Distress stain comes with a dabber end.  Get it saturated then hit the paper with the dabber...instant ink splatters.  I added some contrast by stamping around the splatters using an old stamp set from Cornish Heritage Farms.  The splatters leave some raised areas on the panel which gives it a very cool texture.
I am also adding my card to the Seize the Birthday (texture) Challenge.  Sure you have a happy day, after all it is Friday!
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Christmas Morning

Christmas decorations are popping up all over the stores and the city where I live...a bit early for me.  This little girl reminds me of getting ready to go up and sit on Santa's lap thinking about the question, 'Have you been good this year?'
This card was inspired by a CAS challenge at Splitcoast  based on the photo from Pinterest (below).
The images are digis from Birdie Brown on Etsy.  I printed them out and coloured with Copic markers.  I pop dotted some of the presents and the little girl for interest and added a line to balance it all out.
I am adding this to the Simon Says Stamp challenge (keeping it clean and simple)

Birthday Girl

Here is a card I made using a free digital image I found on the internet.  I needed a card for my friend's daughter who was turning one and I loved this little girl in her cute hat.  I coloured with Copic markers, cut the image out then pop dotted her onto a piece of gingham glued on the bottom of my cardstock.  I added the sentiment from Penny Black to finish the card off.
I am adding my card to the Simon Says (keeping it clean and simple) Challenge.

Merriest Wishes

I wish I shared the excitement my little ones have for the snow but I don't look forward to the winter and the winter winds and cold that it brings.  Well I guess if you live in Canada, that's what you get.
Anyways, I am sharing a card I made for the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast yesterday (inspiration photo from Pinterest below).  The snowman is a digital image...so cute and created by my friend Lisa Lara.  I coloured him with Copic markers then pop dotted him the card front that was partly embossed.
I am also adding my card to the CAS-ual Fridays (embossing) challenge and the Simon Says (keeping it clean and simple) Challenge.
Thanks for coming by and taking a peek.

Jolly Santa

Truth be known...I love the look of vintage Christmas images.  Guess they remind me of being a kid.
My card was inspired by the pillow (pictured below) for the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast today.   This Santa image from Flonz Stamps worked perfectly with this little frame.  I kept it very simple by adding some dp behind Santa and pop dotting the frame beside the Digital sentiment from Pink Petticoat.  Going to put this card into the challenge at Simon Says (keeping it clean and simple)
Hope you have a great weekend.

Happy Ho, Ho, Ho

It is never too early to get some Christmas cards made and all ready for the big day.  This card was created for the colour challenge at Splitcoast today.  Check it out for some great inspiration.
I seldom to never have used digital images but that is what this card is all about.
The Santa was printed out, coloured with Copic markers and pop dotted onto the front of the bkg. paper.  The bkg. paper is also a digi.
I am also adding my card to the Simon Says (Anything Goes) Challenge
Have a great day and thanks for coming by and taking a look.

Over the Hills

Hi there.  Here is a card I made for a challenge at Splitcoast a few days ago; to use glitter.  I love this little bunny image from Lawn Fawn.  I coloured him with Copics, cut him out so I could mount him on the hill.  The sentiment is a digital that I added some shiny stars around to highlight it.  Applied a line of glue and added glitter to the hill for some glistening snow....uugghh....not looking forward to the snow.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

So Sorry

It is never easy to make sympathy cards but I think they mean so much to the person receiving them.
Here is a card I made using my Copic markers to create the bkg.  It is easy and very effective when using a silhouette stamp.  I added the sentiment and mounted it onto white cardstock to keep the look clean but simple.
I am adding this card to the Simon Says (anything goes) Challenge and the CASology (black) challenge this week.
Thanks so very much for all your most kind comments and emails.  It means the world to me!!

The Spirit of Christmas

It's Saturday and time for another Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast.  When I saw the cake from Charm City Cakes below, I was off to make a card.
The trees are from a large bkg. stamp that I stamped, embossed with clear then cut down to make room for the sentiment from Penny Black.  The little bird was stamped, coloured with Copics then cut out to be pop dot mounted.  I think he looks striking against the black bkg.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a peek and I hope you have a great weekend.

Happy Neon Birthday

Neon colours.....they make me smile.  Here is a simple card I made for a masking challenge at Splitcoast using some of the wonderful Hero Arts neon colours.
First I masked the center area then started randomly stamping the paint drips and splatters.  When I was done, I removed the mask, added scoring lines and then stamped the sentiment.  The 'happy' is a diecut from Simon Says.  I am adding this card to the Seize the Birthday challenge and the 'Anything Goes' challenge at Simon Says.
Thanks so much for taking a look.
