Hello Baby

Good Morning.  There is nothing more special then a new little arrival so today's Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast was just what I needed to get going making a baby card for a friend.  I was inspired by the colours in this framed picture:

I wanted to make the background look like a little quilt so I used a Spellbinder die to cut the squares and mounted them into a quilt pattern.  I stamped the sentiment then added the baby with pop dots that was coloured using watercolour pencils.

I am adding my card to these challenges:

Welcome Sight

Spring is such a welcome sight after the long winter we had.  I am ready for sunny days and warmer temps.  I wanted to play along with the CAS Challenge this morning at Splitcoast; Spring Flowers.

I thought of my Pretty Peony set from Stampin Up.  It is an older 2-part set which means you stamp the first image then stamp the detail.  I chose some sunny colours for my flowers, stamped the main image first and watercoloured it.  When dry, I stamped over it with the second part of the stamp adding the detail to my flowers.  Stamped the sentiment then I added a hand drawn border to pull it all together.

Adding my card to these challenges:

All Good

Meet today's card.  Just me playing with Distress inks, water and paper again and playing along with the challenge at Splitcoast.  I am using the Embossing Folder Stamping Technique again for my bkg.  I know you must be tired of seeing it again but I love that I have a new use for my embossing folders and any time I can play with the inks, I am in!
I inked using Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers and Dusty Concord directly onto my eb folder.
I die cut the flowers and glued them onto my card front then stamped the sentiment.

Adding my card to these challenges:

Less is More- DIE CUT

CASology- FLOWER

Splash of Colour

It's Saturday and time to play.  The Inspiration Challenge today at Splitcoast was just what I needed to get me going after such a busy week.

I began by making my background.  It certainly was not what I had set out to create.  I inked up a chalkboard background stamp with Distress inks, sprayed with a generous amount of water but when I stamped it, all you could puddles of colour and no words.  Too much water!  So I inked it again, sprayed with lots of water again and stamped in the opposite direction.  I really like how it ended up all blending together.
When it was all dry, I stamped the flower then the sentiment.

I am also adding my card to these challenges:

Father's Day

Today's card is a fun one.  We are enjoying a long wknd here in Canada so more time to play....yeah!
This am, I saw the challenges at Splitcoast so decided to combine them.  One had a water them and the other was to use the Embossing Folder Stamping technique on your card.  Well you all know how much I love having a new use for my embossing folders so I was off to make a card.
(for those of you that want to see how it's done go HERE)
I began by cutting a circle mask and attached it to my cardstock.  I pressed my paper into the wet ink and then when I removed the mask, the imprinted circle was left.  I love the wet looking splashes of colour it leaves behind when the colours blend together.  It reminded me of a planet so I added the little robot from Birdie Brown and the sentiment for The Alley Way.
I think I will give this to my hubbie for Father's Day.

Nature's Glory

Happy Sunday.  Here is another card I made after watching one of the videos for Day 3 in the Watercolour for Card Makers class.  I won't share how I did all of this as it wouldn't be fair to all the contributors or the others that are participating in the classes.
The flower set I used is from an old Stampin Up set called Spring Garden.
The great sentiment is from Printworks...I have had it for years.

Faux Watercolour (first attempt)

Happy Saturday.  Here is Canada we have a long weekend...gotta love that with more time to play.
I have been taking the Online Card Watercolor classes but haven't had time to play along.
Here is my first attempt card I made after watching the Day 5 videos where you use a stamped image and watercolour it.  I am not going to share a lot of details as I feel it wouldn't be fair to all the contributors or to all the others that are participating in the classes.  All I can say is that I can't get enough!!  If you are thinking about signing up, do it.
My card was inspired when I saw the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast this am.  We are to be inspired from the Grandin Road site and this is the rug I saw and loved!

Bloom Where You are Planted

Phew!  Busy week with lots going on.  There never seems to be enough extra time to play; I love to play.  I saw this challenge at Splitcoast this am and wanted to play along.  The challenge was to Grab and Go; grab the closest thing to you that is new and not been used.  This new set from Penny Black called Friendship Flowers was sitting in a box right beside me just waiting to be used.
I had an extra background that I made using the Embossing Folder Stamping technique.  You can read about how to do it HERE.  I simply stamped the panel then coloured with Copics in the same colours as the background.  I thought the flowers needed something so I added some white dots using my white Signo Pen then mounted the panel with pop dots.

Simple Stamping

Simple stamping is so satisfying, quick and easy.  This card is that kind of card.
I wanted to play along with the One-Layer Simplicity Challenge this month; the theme is Fabulous Flowers.

I am addicted to the Embossing Folder inking and this was a second time pressing onto the embossing folder.  Why waste good ink if it is there?  It made for the perfect, subtle background for my flowers.  I stamped the Unity flowers then added the sentiment from Mama Elephant.
Lastly, added the pearls and the twine.

I am adding my card to these challenges:

Seize the Birthday- ANYTHING GOES, FLOWERS

Simon Says- SPRING FLOWERS

Keep It Simple- WATERCOLOUR

Have a good week.  Looks like we are in for a lot of rain.

Happy Mother's Day

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all you great MOMS out there.  It is such a special day!

I lost my Mom years ago but wanted to make a special card for my MIL that was pink and pretty.  So, I inked up my embossing folder with Distress inks in these colours, Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry, sprayed with water then pressed my paper into the wet ink.  It made the perfect background for my tag and my rolled roses.
The tag was die cut, stamped, then I sponged on some Worn Lipstick before removing it from the Die-namics die.  The roses are also from Die-namics and are so easy to make.  Wasn't sure how I wanted to add a bow so instead added some dark pink jute that I looped under the flowers and the leaves.
