Monoprint Christmas

Good Morning.
Meet today's card.
Simple monoprinted background and one of my favourite snowflakes.

To begin, I wanted to use a stencil to create a Monoprinted background.  I love the way the printed backgrounds look and you can make them in a short amount of time which is great for this busy time of year.
For those of you that have never done a Monoprinted background before, you ink the back of you stencil with some kind of waterbased ink, spray with water then press onto your paper.  Its a great way to also get a different look to your stencils and give it more of a watercolour look.
When the bkg. was dry, I placed the piece inside my Misti and stamped the sentiment.
I die-cut the snowflake, glued it in place and added a blue gem to the center.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Holiday Time

Good Morning and thanks for coming to visit.
Having some fun with my markers and stamps today.

I began by masking the edges of my white card front so I would be left with a crisp white border.  Next, I placed the tree branch inside my Misti, coloured it with my Tombow markers, sprayed with water and stamped.  I repeated that process until I was happy with the colour.
When that was dry, I watercoloured in the background using Distress ink then added some extra detail by stenciling with some drywall tape.
I stamped the sentiment then splattered with white acrylic paint.
The finishing touch was to add the berries with some red Nuvo drops, love how they just gave the branches a great pop of colour.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

All That Glitters

Good Morning.
Meet today's card.
This card was inspired by this lovely snowflake from Cheery Lynn.  I love the details it has and wanted to showcase it on my card.

I began by creating the blue top of my card.  I used the Splash Watercolour Technique to apply colour using my Distress Oxide inks, then when that was dry I stamped and embossed with silver to give it some shine and a bit of elegance.
I stamped the sentiment using my Misti on my white card front, then embossed the piece using a snowflake embossing folder from Echo Park.
Next, I used a stitched scallop die to cut the blue portion and glued it over the white embossing above the sentiment leaving enough room to add my die-cut snowflake.
Lastly, I added a silver Nuvo drop in the center of the snowflake.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Majestic

Happy Saturday!

The other day I picked up this die by Recollections for half price so time to make a card.
I wanted to make a simple masculine card and this is what I came up with.

I began with a piece of acetate again (the kind you get from you stamp pkgs), inked it with Distress Oxide ink, sprayed with water and pressed it onto the paper.  The nice thing about the acetate is that you can manipulate and bend it and place the ink exactly where you want it to be.
When the ink was dry, I stamped the sentiment using my Misti and die-cut the deer head and the leaves.
To add extra texture to the deer head, I dry embossed it to give it lots of texture.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
Have a great wknd.

Holly Jolly- CAS Watercolour Challenge

Welcome.
It's time for another card at the

Please come and check out all the wonderfully done holiday cards.
The DT's and our special guest and friend Ina, have created such inspiring cards.

My card was a very simple one to create.
Using a heavy piece of acetate, I rubbed some Distress Oxide inks onto it, sprayed with water and touched the acetate to my paper randomly trying to keep most of the ink in the bottom corner.
When that was dry, I stamped the checkerboard and the circles using the same colour of ink then the sentiment in Memento black ink.
I stamped the heart, heat embossed it with clear powder then fussy cut it out so I could pop dot it over the top of my sentiment.  The embossing made my star shine which was great.

Please come and play along with us.
Great chance to get a few more holiday cards done.

Our theme this month is CAS, Clean and Simple.

http://theflowerchallenge.blogspot.ca/
You just have to go and check out the fabulous cards this month...very inspiring.

So onto my card.
I began by placing my card front into my Misti and stamped the flower image from Avery Elle in black Memento ink.  I stamped the image again onto another piece of cardstock, then die-cut it using the Stitched Dome die.
Next, I loose watercoloured just the flowers on the die-cut using my Tombow markers.  I scribbled them onto my non-stick craft mat and picked up the colour using a wet paintbrush.  When the panel was dry, I pop dotted it over the blackline image to create a highlighted area that draws in the eye.
Using my Misti again, I stamped the sentiment and mounted it all over a piece of pink cardstock.

Hope you get a chance to come and play along with us.

Venture into the Woods

Good Morning.
Meet my clean and simple card for the holidays.

I began by pulling out a piece of inky paper that was leftover in my stash.  I like to keep inky leftovers as you never know when they will come in useful.
I had created that by applying a coat of Gesso over a stencil, let it dry then inked it up with Distress inks.  I thought it looked like an abstract form of snow so decided it worked as part of the scene.
I die-cut the Stitched Dome, the deer and the tree and put it all together to create my little scene card.
To help further the feel of winter and snow, I dry embossed the top of my card, stamped the sentiment using my Misti and done.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Twelve Tags of Christmas

Hello and Welcome.
I am just thrilled to be a part of Loll Thompson's

http://www.stampingwithloll.com/2017/11/twelve-tags-of-christmas-day-seven.html

This is day seven, so if you haven't seen the rest of the tags this week you need to go check them out.
You will be so inspired!  There are prizes too!

So for this event, you must create a tag any size or shape and it must be a mixed media Christmas tag  which includes stamping, plus two mixed media elements (techniques or products).

So onto what I did for my tag.
For the base of my tag, I used my Woodgrain Tutorial that so many of you have used in the past.  It is a fun way to create a wood looking background with readily available supplies.  I went for blue of course!
(a step by step tutorial can be found on my blog by clicking the above link)
I used a tag die to cut out my tag shape then started added the details.
To add some sparkle to the woodgrain, I stamped some script randomly and embossed it with silver powder.  I added a snowy feel by splattering white acrylic paint all over as well.
Next, I die-cut the snowflakes leaving one white then silver embossing the smaller one.  I layered them then added a drop of blue Nuvo to add interest and pull up the blue of the base.
I die-cut the 'be jolly' and glued it over a piece of silver ribbon along the bottom.
I cut a blue base to give it more stability then added silver twine and a white bow.

I hope you will be much inspired and come and play along with us.
These tags are like little treasures.

Plaid Christmas

Happy Saturday.
Meet today's card.  I wanted to try and stamp some plaid for Christmas and this is what I came up with.

I began by placing the plaid stamp from Lawn Fawn into my Misti, simply inked it with black Memento ink then pressed onto my paper.  I used a red Tombow marker to draw in some extra lines which helped the whole piece pop by adding so much more interest to the black plaid.
I stamped this vintage looking Santa from Flonz with my Misti again and fussy cut him out so I could mount him to the black and red background.  I stamped the sentiment to one side and mounted the Santa with pop dots right into the middle.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
Have a great weekend.

Birthday Cheer

 Good Morning.
Taking a break from making Christmas cards.
Very simple card for one of my special little friends.

My card is pretty straightforward and very clean and simple.
I began by stamping the birthday greeting onto a piece of cardstock, cut the panel down and adhered it to the side of my card front.
Next, I stamped this sweet little tricycle image and fussy cut it out.  I glued it onto a circle that I had stamped the word 'celebrate' onto.  I pop dotted that slightly over the stamped panel and done.

All That Glitters

Good Morning.
Meet my glittery card.
We all need a little glitter for Christmas, helps make the holidays feel magical.

I saw this technique on Splitcoast Stampers called Iced Leather and decided to try it out.
The idea is to give you paper the look of suede.

To begin, take a piece of sandpaper and rough up your piece of cardstock.  I used white but you can use coloured as well.  Your paper will now have a rough surface.
Next, swipe a Versamark pad over the surface...swipe being the key word.  You just want some hard edges mixed with soft to give a suede look and feel.
Next, sprinkle on some shiny, glitter embossing powder and heat set.
My card lacked pizzaz so I rubbed some Peacock Feather Distress Oxide ink on my non-stick mat, sprayed with water and dragged my paper through the wet ink to add some colour but you wouldn't have to do that step especially if you are using coloured cardstock.

Using my Misti, I stamped the sentiment in the corner then die-cut the snowflake and glued it in place.  I added the blue gem to the center of the snowflake to finish it all off.
*in hindsight next time I would stamp my sentiment after sanding my paper and before adding the Versamark and the eb powder...it would give a flatter surface to stamp onto.

Simple Stamping for Christmas

Meet today's card.
Very simple stamping here with a few added touches using some new Penny Black stamps.
As most of you already know, I so love making 'blue' cards and I thought I would try and make a totally monochromatic card.

I began by placing the cardstock into my Misti and stamped the Penny Black Berry Speckled stamp using Stormy Sky Distress ink which is a cool blue.  I moved the stamp around, continuing to stamps around my card front until I was happy with the placement.
Next, I stamped the sentiment from the Love and Peace set in the same colour, keeping the whole card uniform.
To add more interest and depth to the bkg., I sponged on more Stormy Sky, applying it heavier in the corners and then I used a piece of drywall tape and stenciled behind the stamped branches.
I took my Versamark ink pad and rubbed it along the edges of my card front, then white heat embossed to further add to the wintery feel of my card.

Many thanks for coming by and taking a look!

Holiday Wishes

Good Morning.
Here is another Christmas card I made for the holidays.
I tried to keep it very CAS but added layers of stamping to give interest.

I began by inking up my long rectangle shape acrylic block with Distress inks, sprayed with water and pressed onto the paper keeping the ink concentration in the bottom corner of my card front.
When that was dry, I stamped the sentiment from Paper Smooches using my Misti.
To add more interest to the bkg, I stamped the ABC and the Texture Mini over the inked areas.
The snowflake was die-cut then I pressed it onto my Versamark ink pad and heat embossed it with silver powder.  I added a blue Nuvo drop to the center which gave a lovely effect.

Starry Night

Good Morning.
Today, I am playing with a new die from Penny Black, some Yupo paper and alcohol inks.

So here's what I did.
I began by added some Ranger Alcohol inks onto my piece of Yupo paper.  Love how the inks move and react on the Yupo, such a unique paper.
When it was dry, I used some Ranger Blending Solution and a piece of drywall tape to stencil in the background.  I like the look it gave and the extra interest it added.
I used some Inka Gold diluted with water and flicked that onto the background with a paintbrush to look like little star.
This adorable little die from Penny Black is called Winter Village.  I die-cut it onto white and mounted it over the inky Yupo.  I stamped the sentiment from the new Love and Peace sentiment set then I framed the whole thing up and pop dotted it onto my card front.

Feeling happy to have another holiday card made.
