Just Imagine- Use Your Stencil as a Stamp

Welcome
Today's card features the newly released Star Stretch stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.
I tried a new technique for this card and was pleased with the results as it gave a muted background.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I got out a piece of white cardstock and my Star Stretch stencil.  I also got out a solid background stamp from Hero Arts called Paint Swatches.  You have to use a solid stamp for this technique.
  • Next, I inked up the solid stamp with some Uncharted Mariner Distress Oxide ink and pressed the stamp onto the Star Stretch stencil to pick up the pattern and stamped that onto my white cardstock.
  • I repeated that process until the whole panel was covered.
  • I placed the stenciled panel into my Misti and stamped the flowers to one side and the sentiment near the top.  I did heat emboss them to help make them pop.
  • I glued the finished panel onto a piece of black cardstock, then onto blue and then onto an A2 sized card base.
  • I added 3 black gems around the sentiment.

Here is the stencil I used:

Overflowing Florals

Good Morning
Today's card was a fun one to create as I was playing along with a challenge to do some 'Faux Tearing using stencils' at Splitcoast Stampers.
What an interesting look it gave to the background...I should have taken a picture before I stamped over it.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock.  Using some copy paper, I tore strips and laid them over my cardstock with some repositionable glue.
  • I laid the  stencil over the torn pieces of paper and inked it up.  The colours of ink I used were:  Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers and some Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide ink.
  • I removed the stencil and all the strips to reveal the background.
  • I some leftover ink on my blending brushes to ink the edges.
  • Next, I placed the piece into my Misti and stamped the Large Floral Background over the inked piece with some black ink.
  • I die cut the sentiment from some black and then some white cardstock and glued them together.
  • I die cut the word shadow right from the middle of the inked panel and glued them together.
  • I glue it all onto an A2 card base, then pop dotted the sentiment into place over the flowers.

Best Wishes

Welcome
It's the start of a new month which means new stencils are out at A Colorful Life Designs.
This simple notecard was made using the Even Pairing stencil.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I decided to make a little notecard, so I cut a piece of white cardstock that was 3 3/4" square.
  • I placed the paper onto my Make Art Station and positioned the Even Pairing stencil over that.
  • Using some Wilted Violet Distress Oxide ink, I blended it over the stencil.  I add just a hint of Dusty Concord DOX in areas to add interest.
  • I removed the stencil and placed the panel into my Misti to stamp the Clover Silhouette to one side in black.
  • I stamped the sentiment near the top and then splattered with my black Posca pen just over the flowers.
  • I glued that finished panel onto a piece of purple cardstock, then onto a heavy white card base that was 4 1/4" square.
  • I added 3 black gems under the sentiment to bring attention to it.

Soaking Up the Sun

Good Morning
I just can't wait for some better weather to arrive.
Big snowstorm here where I live yesterday.
I do live near a Conservation Area, so this stamp always reminds me of that.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began by creating the background.  I did that using my Gel Plate and a fun technique I first saw Lydia Fiedler do on one of her lives.
  • So, I pressed Salty Ocean into the center of my plate, then some Blueprint Sketch along the sides and brayered the colours together.
  • Now here's the fun part.......I gently folded my Gel Plate in half, letting the sides touch mostly in the middle.  I opened it back up, laid it flat and then rubbed a piece of white cardstock over the plate to take my print.  It looked so cool...like water.  (To see another bkg I did this way, go HERE)
  • I got out this beautiful Egrets in Reeds and placed it into my Misti.  I inked it up with black ink and stamped over my Gel Plate print.
  • I cut my card base at 4 1/4 inches square, then glued the panel to a piece of matching cardstock, then onto the card base.

Finding Nature

Hello and Welcome
Meet today's card.
I was inspired to use this Reflective Blue Heron stamp from Magenta after seeing some wonderful cards done by my friend Christine Alexander.  You can see them here.
Christine used Alcohol inks on her Gel Plate, but I am going to use some Distress Oxides on mine.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I got out my Gel plate and rubbed on some Cracked Pistachio, Peeled Paint, Peacock Feathers  and a bit of Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink right in the middle of the plate. (I added the ink on the top and bottom like a mirror image)
  • I used my brayer to blend the colours, keeping them separate on each side.
  • Now as a disclaimer, this is not my original idea but I watched Lydia Fiedler do this on one of her lives...are you ready for it?  I carefully folded my Gel Plate in half, being sure that the center areas touched each other.  Crazy right!
  • I laid the plate flat and then rubbed my white cardstock over it to take the print.
  • Next, I placed the inked piece into my Misti and stamped the Heron with some Versafine Clair ink.
  • I glued the panel onto a piece of blue cardstock, then onto a white card base.
  • I debated about whether or not to add a sentiment but decided to leave it as is.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Summer Days

Hello
Thanks so much for dropping by.
I'm sad to see summer coming to an end, but looking forward to seeing all the colours of Fall.
Today's card is made with a 'roll off' sheet that I did when using my Gel Plate.
I like to keep extra paper nearby so I can roll the excess ink from my brayer when using my Plate.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • Like I mentioned above, I always keep extra paper nearby so when I am inking up my Gel Plate, I can roll the excess ink from the brayer.  This roll off was made when I used some Cracked Pistachio and some Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide ink on my Gel Plate.
  • To add interest to the background, I added some stamping from a set by Visible Image with the same inks mentioned above.  It just gives a hint of interest.
  • I placed the piece into my Misti and stamped the Queen Anne's lace and then the sentiment with some black Versafine Clair ink.
  • I splattered with my white Posca pen, then glued it onto a white card base.
  • Finally, I added 3 black gems under the sentiment.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

It's Your Day

Good Morning
Hope you are all doing well.
I was recently at the lake for the day with one of my besties which inspired this card.

So here is what I did to create my card.
  • The background is a Gel Plate print so I began by assembling my supplies; Gel Plate, brayer, acrylic paint and a piece of heavy white cardstock.
  • I rolled on a few shades of blue and pale green acrylic paint onto the plate using my brayer.  It was paint from the Dollar Store so a very light bodied paint.
  • I tore a strip of paper from some scrap and laid it over the painted background and took the print.  By laying the scrap paper on, when I took the print, it left a masked off area perfect for stamping onto.
  • I set the piece aside to dry completely which didn't take long as the paint was a thin texture.
  • When dry, I placed the piece into my Misti and stamped the bird.  I love how it looked blended in with the painted background.
  • I left the panel in my Misti and stamped the sentiment. I clear heat embossed the image and sentiment.
  • I added it to a heavy white card base and glued on 3 small black gems right under the sentiment.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
