Hello and welcome.
Today, I have the pleasure of hosting our last Technique Lovers Challenge TLC for this year over at Splitcoast Stampers.
It has been such a busy and hectic time for so many, so I decided to go with a simple and easy challenge:
Faux Stitching.
I really like the interest it adds.
So onto my card details.
I began with a small leftover piece of an alcohol inked background and stamped the flower head onto that with Versamark ink and embossed it with some black eb powder. I fussy cut it out and set it aside to cool. You have to be very careful when embossing on the Yupo or it will melt.
Next, I took a piece of heavy white cardstock and laid the Rectangle mask over the center area of my paper. I inked up the open area with my DOX inks and an inking tool, blending the colours together that matched the colours of my flower head. Leaving the mask in place, I added a bit of stenciling, splattered with some water to lift some of the colour, then splattered with some white acrylic paint to help lighten it up a bit and to add interest.
I removed the mask and stamped the whole flower in the position I wanted it in.
Next, using a piercing tool, I pierced holes all around the outside edge of my inked area to act like a frame. After all the piercing was done, I drew lines with a black tip marker between the holes to create the 'faux' stitches.
I glued the flower head on top of the stem then glued the whole piece onto some brown cardstock then onto a heavy white card base.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
