Paint Your Dreams

Hello and Welcome.
Just popping in with a super quick, simple card today.

I think this card was so inspired by my need for Spring to arrive.
Can you believe that I went with green and not blues?!!

I began creating my card front by masking off the top and bottom portions as I wanted to keep the stenciling to the center area of my paper leaving some white space top and bottom.
I rubbed Peeled Paint over my stencil with a sponge applicator then removed it.  I stamped the clock face (an old stamp with no name on it) off to the side for interest.
Next, I placed the flowers into my Misti, inked them up with black Memento and stamped over the stenciled bkg.
I added some black paint splatters for interest as well.
That's it.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Paper Weaving

Good Morning and Happy Saturday.
Meet today's card.

Yesterday over at Splitcoast Stampers, one of the challenges was to use recycling on your card.  Today's Challenge was all about Antique Farmhouse which I absolutely love!! My love of antiques got me also thinking about the quilts I have collected over the years and from there, my card was created.

I loved doing paper weaving when I was a kid, so I decided to give it a go for my card front.
I began by finding an old magazine and cut some of the pages into 1/4" strips.
I lined up the first set of strips at the top of my card going down and glued them just at the very ends to help hold them in place.  Then I was ready to start weaving the other set of paper strips over and under the ones glued in place.
I think the colours and patterns made for a happy look.
I die-cut the large olive branch and glued that over the top.
That's it!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend and thanks so much for taking time to come and see what I have been up to.

Beautiful Background

Good Morning and Welcome.
Yesterday over at Splitcoast Stampers, we were challenged to use our background stamps to create a card.  What great incentive that was for me to re-visit my small collection of background stamps that have gone untouched for so long.
When I saw this one from Serendipity called Jen's Zen, it inspired this card.

I began by masking off my card front with some Post-It tape.  I placed the stamp into my Misti and inked it up with grey ink and stamped.
Leaving the mask in place, I stamped the thistles by coloring them with my Tombow makers, spraying with water and stamped over the bkg.
I removed the masks and mounted my card front onto a piece of soft lavender cardstock.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
I hope you get a chance to take a look at your background stamps and get inspired.

Silhouette-Collage

Meet today's card.
I went for a very simple design, trying my hand at a square card again.

I wanted to create a collage-style bkg to help feature my silhouette flowers.
I masked off my card front and first stenciled in the top left hand corner then stamped the rest with Peacock Feathers Distress ink.  I also sponged the edges with more DI to help define the stamped area.  I removed the masks then stamped the sentiment from Daisy Bucket and the silhouette flowers.

Simple and I get to use more of my stamps.
*tip- by using just one colour, you can create your own background using the stamps you already
have in your stash*

Wishes for Spring

Happy Saturday.

Just having a bit of play time with some stamps and ink.
So meet today's card.

I just love this Penny Black stamp called Effulgent You can really use it to create the look of watercolouring by just using markers and water.
So, I placed the stamp into my Misti, then using my Tombow markers I coloured directly onto the rubber, sprayed with water and pressed onto my paper.  I repeated that process adding more colour and repositioning the stamp around my card front.
After it was dry, I sponged the edges with some Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean Distress ink and splattered with water.  The water helps lift some of the ink leaving you with what looks like little raindrops.
I stamped the sentiment from the PB set called So Very Much.
To add additional interest to the background, I used a piece of drywall tape and did some stenciling using more Peacock Feathers DI.

Have a great weekend and thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

You Touch My Heart- CAS Watercolour Challenge

Hello and welcome.
Time for another card for the
Our theme for this month is 'heart'.

Be sure and check out the fabulous creations that our talented designers have created and our special GD this month, Sue from Sue's Card Craft.

So onto my card.
I began by cutting a simple heart shape from a piece of scrap paper.  I laid that over my white cardstock to use as a mask.  Next, I inked the inside of an embossing folder with Distress ink, sprayed with some water and pressed over the masked area.  That created a watercolour looking bkg.
I immediately removed the mask and dried with my heat tool.
I placed the inked piece inside my Misti and stamped the sentiment from Penny Black centering it over the top of my heart.

I sponged in the edges with Distress ink to help define the heart shape and then using a piercing tool, I went around and pierced the edges for added interest.

Hope you will come and play along with us.

Happy Smiles- The Flower Challenge

Good Morning.
Time for another card for
The Flower Challenge.
Our theme this month is Paper Piecing.

So onto my card.
I began by inking my white cardstock with Distress inks and a sponging tool.
I then stamped the flower stalk to get my positioning right and using my Misti, stamped the sentiment as well.  Then I went onto adding all the details to my background.
I used some drywall tape to stencil, white heat embossed a script and stamped some Mixed Media elements around the empty areas of my card.
I set that aside and stamped the flowers with Versamark ink onto a leftover inked paper found in my stash, then fussy cut out the flowers and pop-dot mounted the flowers over the stems.

On another note...here are some of my cards from The Flower Challenge during 2017.

Hope you get a chance to come and play along with us!

Enjoying Small Moments

Good Morning.

I tried something different when I was playing around with my Distress Oxides and that is how I came up with this muted background.
I wanted a softer looking bkg for these beautiful Rubbernecker flowers.  There was a piece of white tissue paper sitting on my desk, so I flattened it a bit and rubbed my Distress Oxide ink pads directly onto the tissue paper.  Next, I laid that tissue paper, inked side down, onto my card front and sprayed with water to transfer the ink.  I just left it for a few minutes and removed to reveal this great blend of colours all ready to be stamped onto.

This stamp set is a 4 part flower so my Misti came in very handy.  I stamped the stems first by colouring them with my Tombow markers, sprayed with water and stamped.  I went on to do the flower heads and all the details in the same way.
Stamped the sentiment using my Misti too.

Artsy

Hello and Welcome.
Meet today's card.  Something I'm calling 'Artsy'.

I haven't made a square card in ages and decide to go for it today using this new to me stamp called Nature 2.  It is a collection of wildflowers and these ferns/fiddleheads reminded me of an artsy looking heart so that was my starting point.

I began by masking off my card front then using some Peeled Paint Distress ink, I did a monoprint first.  For those of you that are not familiar with a Monoprint....you rub ink onto the back of a stencil, spray with water then press onto the paper.  Those are the dots you can see in the background.
When that was dry, I stamped over using a few stamps but still using the same Peeled Paint so the background would just blend away and not become the focal point.
I stamped the ferns then  the sentiment and sponged the edges to add some definition to the masked area.  I removed the masks and glued my piece onto more white cardstock.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Shadow Stamping

Morning.
Meet today's card.
Thought I would make more \of a non-traditional card for Valentine's Day.

I began by sponging my white card stock with Peeled Paint Distress inks and added some Mowed Lawn DI along the edges.  Next, I rubbed the whole piece with my anti-static bag then placed the heart branches from Penny Black called All You Need  into my Misti.  I inked up the branches with Versamark then stamped them onto my green base.  I sprinkled on some white embossing powder and heated it up.  I then moved my paper inside my Misti and stamped the branches again using the same green as I had for the card base to create a shadow effect.
I stamped the sentiment from the PB set called Smitten in the top corner using my Misti again then splattered the whole piece with some water to lift the ink.
It still needed something, so I inked up the Script stamp with more of the Peeled Paint and stamped that randomly in the bkg.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Paper Pieced- The Flower Challenge

Good Morning.
I have another fun challenge for you to try out at

This month our theme is:

I haven't paper pieced for a very long time so it was fun to see what I could come up with.
I looked through my inked pieces that I had on hand and found one that had a lot of  'Spring-like' colours in it.  I had made the inked paper by dropping Ranger Alcohol inks onto Yupo paper.
I like to make a few at a time so I can set them aside for future use on my cards.

I stamped this lovely flower called Awaken from Penny Black onto a piece of heavy white cardstock using black Memento ink and my Misti.
I stamped the flowers again onto a piece of Yupo paper but this time with Versamark and then I white heat  embossed the flowers.
*when embossing with Yupo paper, but sure and keep you heat gun moving or your paper will totally warp*
While the embossed flowers cooled, I coloured the flower stems with my Zig markers.
I fussy cut out the flowers and glued them over the top of the stamped image on my card front.
I stamped the sentiment using my Misti then sponged the edges with Distress inks and splattered with some water to lift some of the ink.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
I hope you will check out the challenge and come and see what the talented designers have created!

Take a Moment

Happy Saturday.
Today, I am playing with my Acetate Inking Technique again.
It is so easy and fun and I can get great layering results using my Distress Oxide inks.
So here is what I did to create my card.

I began by taking a piece of acetate and inked it with Distress Oxide ink (colours listed below in the supplies list), sprayed with water and pressed onto my card, keeping the ink to the middle section of my card as I wanted to leave white space.

It's a bit hard to see, but when that was dry, I stamped a butterfly collage stamp and a clock in the background using the same colour as the inking so it became more of a shadow and not a focal point.
Using my Misti, I stamped the thistles and flowers with black ink over the inky bkgd.
I tucked the sentiment in beside the flowers.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Love Note- CAS Watercolour Challenge

Hello and Welcome.

Time for more fun at the

With Valentine's Day right around the corner it's a great time to create a heart card.
We are so happy to also welcome Sue from Sue's Card Craft as our Guest this month.
Come and see what our talented team has created.

I began my card by creating the backdrop for my cute little Penny Black houses.
To do that, I rubbed some Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers and Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide inks onto my acrylic stamping block, sprayed with water and pressed onto my paper.
I also used some Seedless Preserves to paint the little heart on top of house in the center.
I mounted the inked background and the little houses over a circle die-cut front.
Stamped the sentiment from the cute Smitten set by Penny Black using my Misti.
