Fancy Fold

Good Morning
Today's card is a 'Z' fold design.
It is fun to change it up now and again and this fold is not complicated at all to do.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began by getting my card base ready, a standard A2 size card base that was 5 1/2 x 4 1/4" when folded.  I scored and folded the front side panel in half. It creates a 'Z' fold card. Next, I went in search of the papers I wanted to use and cut them to size to create the back and front pieces.
  • I found this green print that I had done with Distress Oxide inks on my Gel Plate...I don't know what colours I used so I'm going to guess...Twisted Citron, Peeled Paint.  I just rub the ink pad directly onto the plate, use a brayer to smooth it out and then press my paper over to lift the print.
  • I took another piece of white cardstock, placed it into my Misti and randomly stamped the leaves from the Many Thanks set.  This set is a 2 part so I used the same colours as above to fill them in.
  • There was still a lot of white space so I used the end of a pencil eraser to add the dots.  The finished size of this panel was 4 x 3 1/4".
  • I glued the leaves panel onto a piece of white cardstock, then onto the front fold of my card. **Be sure to just add glue to the left hand side of the panel you are adding so the right side is not glued and your card will open. **
  • I stamped the sentiment onto some black cardstock using some Versamark ink and white heat embossed it.  I popped that over the leaves.

Here is what the card looks like open.
(my brayering wasn't the best!)

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Big Hug

Welcome
Today, I am featuring 2 cards I made for my boys using this great stencil from A Colorful Life Design called
Really a good one for creating a card during this difficult time.
This stencil comes with the mask as well and is so easy to use to make some quick cards for friends or family.
Card #1 shows my card using the stencil and card #2 shows what the mask looks like.

So here's what I did to create my card #1.
  • I cut my card panel, then positioned the Heart Hug stencil over my panel.
  • Using some Distress Oxide inks (Mustard Seed, Carved Pumpkin, Candied Apple), I blended the ink over the stencil with my blending brushes.
  • Leaving the stencil in place, I splattered with my white Posca pen to add some interest.
  • When all was dry, I stamped the sentiment from Hampton Arts over the heart with some Versafine Clair Noir and clear heat embossed.
  • I mounted the panel onto some orange cardstock, then onto a heavy white card base.

 Card #2

  • For card #2, I again began with a piece of heavy white cardstock and the same Distress Inks as above and my blending brushes.  This time, I used the mask instead of the stencil to give a different look.
  • When I was happy with the inking, I removed the mask and stamped the sentiment from Studio G with some Versafine Clair and clear heat embossed it.
  • I mounted this one onto a piece of red cardstock and then onto a heavy white card base.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Shadow Stamping

Morning.
Meet today's card.
Thought I would make more \of a non-traditional card for Valentine's Day.

I began by sponging my white card stock with Peeled Paint Distress inks and added some Mowed Lawn DI along the edges.  Next, I rubbed the whole piece with my anti-static bag then placed the heart branches from Penny Black called All You Need  into my Misti.  I inked up the branches with Versamark then stamped them onto my green base.  I sprinkled on some white embossing powder and heated it up.  I then moved my paper inside my Misti and stamped the branches again using the same green as I had for the card base to create a shadow effect.
I stamped the sentiment from the PB set called Smitten in the top corner using my Misti again then splattered the whole piece with some water to lift the ink.
It still needed something, so I inked up the Script stamp with more of the Peeled Paint and stamped that randomly in the bkg.

CASology- How Do You Wrap a Hug?

Good Morning
I have the great pleasure of being the Guest Designer today at CASology.

The cue word this month is:

I began my card by stamping the Christmas Sweater bkg from SSS onto white cardstock using Peacock Feathers DOX.
*Be sure to give the Distress Oxide inks time to dry for a wonderful deep saturation of colour.*
I cut the piece down to a small square and glued it onto my card front as I wanted that to become the focal point of my card.
Next, I scored a border around the small stamped piece using my ScorPal.  It helped define the edges of my blue stamping and also acted like a frame to draw the eye in.
I stamped the sentiment from Penny Black then added the cute red button tied with a piece of white twine.
Who wouldn't love a hug wrapped up in a cozy sweater!

Thanks so much Melissa for asking my to play along as the GD.
