Let's Celebrate- Stamping with Rubber Bands

Hello and Welcome
I have the pleasure of hosting the TLC (Technique Lover Challenge) over at Splitcoast Stampers today.
I wanted to present a challenge I haven't done in years that would use something accessible to everyone.  So that's what my challenge is.....

It's easy and fun to create simple backgrounds using them.
I used a rainbow of colours that reminded me of streamers in a parade.  I thought it was perfect as Canada Day and the Fourth of July are right around the corner.

So here is how I created my card.
I began by wrapping 2 rubber bands around my acrylic stamping block, spreading them out and overlapping them.  My block was small so that's why I only used 2 bands.  For larger blocks, you could add more.
*For an even different look, try wrapping your brayer in bands*
Next, I used my Distress inks and pressed them directly onto the bands, inking them up.
I began with some Mustard Seed, then went on to use some Ripe Persimmon, Candied Apple, Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers, Mowed Lawn and finally Chipped Sapphire.
I wiped the bands off between each stamping so the colours would stay crisp and not get muddy.
When I was happy with the stamping, I used some of the same inks diluted with a bit of water and splattered some over the stamping.
I die- cut the frame using a stitched rectangle die and pop dotted it over the background.
I die-cut the sentiment 3 times and glued it together for stability and glued that over the framed area.
I added 3 small red pearl dots to finish it off.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

What.....No Stamping?

Good Morning!
I hope you are all well and are finding things to keep busy with during these times of isolation.
Yesterday, I played along with a fun challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers called No Stamping.
Time to think outside of the box as I love to stamp!

So here's what I did to create my card.
I began by making the background piece.  I found a piece of white tissue paper in my stash, wrinkled it all up to create creases and then flattened it back out with my hands.
I rubbed some Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon and some Peacock Feathers Distress inks onto a piece of acetate, sprayed with water and then pressed that onto the tissue paper.  The tissue paper will soak in all the ink quickly so try not to make it too wet.  I set it aside to dry on a flat surface.
As it dried, I die cut a window from my white cardstock and then went on to die-cutting the flowers.

When the tissue was dry, I glued it behind the cut out window and then added the flowers, arranging them in a random fashion.
I love the way the white flowers look against that colourful bkg.
I glued it onto a piece of matching blue cardstock, then onto a heavy white card base.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Tie Dye Garden and Tutorial

Hello and Welcome

Trying something new out today.  I think it's so fun to play with a new technique and I wanted to show you how easy it and I could use the inks I already have on hand.  I read the tutorial over at Splitcoast Stampers but decided to take some pics so you could see how I did it.

So here's what I did.

I began with a plain, white coffee filter from the Dollar Store.

I scrunched it all up into a ball creating lots of creases and folds.

I opened the filter up, sprayed with water and gathered it together from the center out....sort of like holding a fan shape.

I took my Distress Oxide ink pads and rubbed it directly onto the filter, rotating it as I went along.

After I was happy with the inking, I opened the filter up and flattened it out to reveal this.
*when you open it up if there isn't enough inking on spots, just refold and ink again*

So when the inked filter was all nice and dry, I glued it onto a piece of heavy cardstock, folding over the edges and gluing them around the back.
Use a glue stick to adhere as the liquid glue will most likely make a mess.
I placed the piece into my Misti and stamped the sentiment using some Versafine black ink.
I die-cut the flowers and glued them over the bkg.
I mounted it all onto a heavy white card base.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Sparkle- The Flower Challenge

Welcome
A new month means a new theme at

This month we are being sponsored by Crackerbox & Suzy Stamps. They are very generously giving our lucky winner an e-gift certificate for $25. Please check out their site as there are some fab crafty things to be seen there.
Our Guest Designer this month is the very talented Nancy Penir from 'artful-notions', our previous winner for March. Do check out her blog if you have a minute as she makes such fabulous cards.

So onto my card details.
If you have read my past blog posts, I have been on a mission to use some of the inked backgrounds I have in my stash.  This bkg was one I created awhile ago using the marble technique.  Basically, you fill a shallow pan with some water, drop some nail polish onto the water and then lay your paper over the water surface.  The paper will pick up the nail polish and you will have an instant background made.

I die cut the Plush Poinsettia Corner from heavy white cardstock and then glued it over the marbled bkg.  I cut a frame using the Hemstitch dies and placed the frame over the background inked piece.
I simply mounted that onto a heavy white card base.
I stamped the sentiment then silver heat embossed it and pop dotted it over my flower bkg.
As a finishing touch, I spread some Crystal Nuvo drops over the flower petals to give it some great sparkle then you can't really see in the pictures.

Thanks so much for coming and taking a look.  I hope you get a chance to come and play along with us.

Plaid Christmas

Good Morning.
Meet today's card.
My first holiday card made!!
It all happened while playing with this fun new stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called Watercolor Stripes.
Very simple card but I love the effect I was able to create.

So here's what I did.
I began by inking up my stencil with some Peacock Feathers Distress ink, sprayed with water and pressed onto my heavy white cardstock, giving me a Stencil Monoprint. I love the irregular lines and inking it had so I inked it up again the same way, sprayed with water and pressed the stencil in the other direction.  Voila....my plaid bkg was born!!
When the stripes were dry, I placed the piece into my Misti and stamped the branches and then stamped the simple sentiment.  To help pull the whole design together, I doodled in a border and mounted it onto a heavy white card base.

Thanks for coming by and taking a look.
