Sweet Silhouettes

Happy Saturday!
Great time to play with some new toys.

I just picked up this stencil by The Crafter's Workshop called Mini Sweet Peas.
I wanted to do a monoprint using Brushos so I laid down my stencil over a piece of scrap paper, sprinkled on some Brushos pigment powder over the back, sprayed with water then pressed onto my paper.  I quickly lifted up the stencil so the ink wouldn't run underneath it to create a lovely monoprint.  It is a great way to get a different look from the stencils you already own.
After the piece had dried, I placed it in my Misti and stamped the wildflowers and the sentiment.
Pretty straightforward and simple.

Hope you have a great weekend.
Thanks so much for stopping by.

Fill Your Heart with Happiness

Good Morning.
I wanted to make a card that made me feel happy so here it is.
I used some of my favourite stamps, one of my favourite techniques and my fav colour of course.

I began by creating the background using my latest new technique called Splash Watercolour.
It is so easy and fun to do using the Distress Oxides as they layer so nicely.
* for the best results in layering, dry each inking before slapping more ink onto your paper *
When my background was dry, I placed the stamps into my Misti, inked with Memento black and stamped.  I did the same thing with the sentiment.

To create more of a 'collage' looking card, I randomly stencilled in the background using more of the DOX and did a bit of stamping with a mixed media stamp.
That's it.....feeling when done, happy!

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Joyous Greetings

Hello and Welcome.
Meet today's card.
Playing with a new stamp from Penny Black called Red Delight and I must say, it was a delight to stamp with.

I began by masking the edges of my heavy weight cardstock with Painter's Tape.
*the paper I get from my local store holds up well to a good amount of water and is smoother then watercolor paper which I like to use with this technique*
Next, I placed the paper into my Misti, coloured the stamp with Tombow markers, sprayed with water and stamped for a watercolour look.  Any type of water-based marker works with this technique because as you add water, the colours blend together to give the appearance of watercolouring.
I like to start with the lightest colour and add touches of a darker colour, repeating the above process.
Using the Misti makes the process of adding additional layers of colours a breeze.
If you don't have a Misti, then add all the colours onto the stamp at first,  layering them, spray with water and stamp just once letting the colours blend together.

For the watercolored background, I scribbled some ink with my Tombow markers directly onto my non-stick craft sheet and picked up the colour with a wet paintbrush.  I wet my cardstock first with water before applying the ink.  I added the black dots to the flower centers using a fine line black marker.
When it was all dry, I used my Misti again to stamp the sentiment from a great new PB set called Joyful Wishes.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

End of Summer

Good Morning.
Meet today's card.  Very simple one using this great technique with video by my sweet friend Loll Thompson that I am now addicted to!!

This technique is super simple and makes a background simple and quickly.
For my card, I rubbed Broken China Distress Oxide ink onto my non-stick craft sheet, sprayed with water and 'slapped' my paper into the wet ink getting the splashed look on my card front.
I repeated that process using some Faded Jeans Distress Oxides to add more depth and colour.
I dried between the layers to create the water drops that looks like an ocean spray.

When that was all dry and I was happy with the colour layering, I stamped the sentiment using my Misti with black Memento ink then clear heat embossed.
I die-cut the birds and glued them onto my card front.

I hate to see summer end but right now we are having summer weather that I will totally enjoy.
Have a great rest of your wknd.

Love Letter- CAS Watercolour Challenge

Welcome
It's time for another card for the
This month our theme is silhouette...right up my alley!

This card came together so quickly.
I inked the background using an acylic sheet and some Brushos.  The acrylic sheet is a backing from one of my stamp sets that is thin and flexible.
So, I sprinkled some Leaf Green Brushos onto the acrylic sheet, sprayed it with a bit of water to activate the ink and pressed onto my paper.  I repeated that process using some Turquoise Brushos and water until I was happy with the colour placement.  Since the acrylic sheet is so thin, I could bend it and place the ink exactly where I wanted it to go.
Next, I placed this Love Letter stamp (new-to-me) into my Misti, inked with Archival Black ink and stamped.  It has all the details and splatters already on it so it's a super easy stamp to use and get great details and interest with little effort.  I clear embossed the image to get it to really pop.
I did add a hint of stenciling behind the main image using a Tim Holtz stencil and some Distress ink.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
You still have time to come and play along with us too.

Season's Greetings Poinsettia- The Flower Challenge

Good morning.
Meet my first holiday card of the year.
Yes, I'm way behind as life has gotten in the way.

It's also time for more fun at

I used the middle diagonal themes- Gems, Watercolor, CAS.

So, I began by placing this lovely Penny Black poinsettia called Red Star into my Misti,  coloured directly onto the rubber with my Tombow markers, sprayed with water and stamped.
I repeated that process starting with the lightest shade of marker and adding some darker color until I was happy with the impression.  I also used my Prismacolor Pencils to add additional detail to the flower centers and blended that out using a wet paintbrush.
I stamped the sentiment using my Misti again and clear heat embossed it.
To add interest to the background, I stamped the PB Script using Versamark ink, then white heat embossed it.
Lastly, I rubbed the whole piece with Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick Distress ink.

Thanks so very much for coming by and taking a look!

Summer's End

Good Morning.

I must say that I am sad to see the summer ending but the crisp, cool Fall air feels refreshing.
Happy to have some time to stamp today and play with some new-to-me stamps.

I wanted to create a washed watercolour background for my card.  I did that simply by inking up my long acrylic block with Distress inks, sprayed with water and dragged the ink over the front of my card.  It is a super easy way to add ink yet leaving some white space behind.

Next, using my Misti, I stamped the flowers across the panel.  To add a bit of interest, I stamped the chevrons along the side too.  I think it just helped to break up all the flowers.
Stamped the sentiment and mounted it onto a white card base keeping it very clean and simple.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Simple Pleasures

Hello and Welcome.

I haven't had much time for stamping these days.
Very happy to be able to create a card today.

This card is simple and clean looking using a fresh colour of green Distress Oxide ink.  Love how you can easily stamp over these inks and they are great for creating layered backgrounds.
For this bkg. I must give a big shout-out to my friend Loll Thompson and her video:

Very fun and easy tutorial to follow too!
Hope you check it out.

I used Peeled Paint DOX for my background and when dry, I stamped the images over the inky green using my Misti.  To add further interest to my card, I stenciled the clock face to one side and the dots on the other.
I love how this card turned out, simple and quick to create.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
Enjoy your weekend.

Tic Tac Toe- The Flower Challenge

Good Morning.
Today is the day for a new theme at

So fun this month as we are playing Tic Tac Toe!

My tic tac toe is a diagonal row down....sentiment, watercolour, white.

I began by stamping the flowers called Flora Bella twice onto my heavy white cardstock; once at the top and once on the bottom using my Misti.
Next, I pressed my Distress ink pads onto my non-stick craft sheet and picked up the colour with a wet paintbrush being very careful not to get the ink onto the flower petals, leaving them white.
I added layers of colour, blending them as I went along.
When dry, using a fine line black marker, I added some small dots to fill in some of the blank spaces.

While that dried, I stamped my sentiment with Versamark ink onto black cardstock, then white heat embossed it.  I added it using pop dots onto my card front.

That's it.  Very simple, clean looking card.
Thanks so very much for coming by and taking a look.
I hope you will come and play along with us this month.

Lovely Silhouettes- CAS Watercolour Challenge

Hello and Welcome.
Time for another theme at the

I just love silhouette stamps, so I was excited to see our theme this month and I had just picked up this lovely set from Simon Says and wanted to play with it!

I began making my card by masking off the area on my card front using Painter's Tape.
I stamped the thistles using my Misti and Tuxedo Black Memento ink.  I then clear heat embossed them so that there would be no black bleeding into my background when I added the watercolouring.

Leaving the taped mask in place, I watercoloured the background using Distress inks and a wet paintbrush.  Just press your ink pad directly onto your acrylic block or non-stick pad and pick up the colour using a wet paintbrush.
I did some stenciling using drywall tape just on the blue area to add interest.
After removing the painter's tape and to help pull the whole thing together, I doodled a border around the watercoloured area.  I stamped the sentiment then splattered some white acrylic paint over the bkg. for further interest and texture.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
Hope you will come and play along with us.
