Enjoy!

Morning.
Hope you enjoy this card.

You all know how addicted I am to Brushos and playing with inks.  I had a piece of cardstock that I had inked with Brusho, stamped on and played around with.
As a large sheet of paper it just didn't work
....so.....
I decided to stamp the flower from a Stampin Up set with Versamark onto the paper and embossed with white.  I fussy cut them out and thought they looked so beautiful.  They reminded me of the iridescent orchids I see in the grocery store.
I die cut a circle frame twice, glued those together then glued that over my sentiment to draw your visual interest there.  I then glued and pop dotted the flowers around the circle and added the pearls to the centers.

Vine Flowers

My favourite day of the week is here and I have a card to share.
I am addicted to using this new stamp from Penny Black called Trumpet Song.
I love using it to create a watercoloured look to my cards just using markers.

This morning I was inspired by the inspiration challenge at Splitcoast and the Schweitzer Linen site.
Here is the set that inspired my card:

I stamped the flowers at the top of my card so I could leave the bottom white space and give more of a feel of a vine.  I coloured directly onto the stamp with Memento markers then sprayed with water and stamped.  I love the way the colours blend together.
I stamped the sentiment from the Penny Black set called Sprinkles and Smiles with black Memento ink.
My card still needed something more so I added scoring lines to add interest and to help add balance to the overall design.

For Dad

Father's Day is quickly approaching.
Here is a quick card I made using an embossed resist and Brushos.

I began by masking a piece of heavy cardstock then stamped the shell from a Gina K set with Versamark then heat embossed with white.  I then sprinkled on some Brusho over that, sprayed with water and watched the colours emerge.  The embossing acts as a resist leaving an interesting design behind.
I then cut the piece out and scored along the edges for interest and to add some texture.
After mounting that piece to my card front, I stamped the Father's Day greeting (from the same Gina K set) with black Memento ink and drew in the black lines.

NOTE:  So many have asked about where to get the Brushos and Bister.  I got my Brusho from Amazon. I got the Bister here: http://ibrakeforstamps.com/bister.aspx

Spritzed

Morning.
Are you up for another blue card....more Brushos?

The challenge this a.m. at Splitcoast was to make a card using one of your favourite tools.  I have to say that one of my fav tools is my Mini Mister.  I use it for most cards to spray water onto my stamps or backgrounds to help blend the colours.

I began by stamping my Penny Black stamp called Circular Design with Versamark ink then heat embossed it with white embossing powder.  Then I sprinkled on Brushos and sprayed with water.  The embossing acts like a resist and I love the way the paint pools in different areas around the embossing.
I cut the panel and added it on a tilt to my card front for interest.
Lastly, I stamped the sentiment from a new set by Penny Black called Spinkles and Smiles to finish off my card.

Wildflowers

Morning.  A quick card this a.m. using some loose watercolouring.

I began by stamping the flowers from Stampin Up with black Memento ink.  To colour the flowers, I scribbled Memento markers onto my acrylic block and using a paint brush dipped in water, picked up the marker colour  to paint the flowers.
I added some blue sponging around the edges for interest and stamped the sentiment.

That's it.  Simple and easy.

Brusho Magic

Brusho magic.
That's how I feel about this wonderful paint medium.  Just sprinkle, spray with water and watch the magic happen.  I wanted to make a simple card and thought the Brushos would work for that.
Well, they didn't disappoint.

I began by sprinkling Purple Brusho onto the top part of my 90lb. watercolour paper and then sprinkled some Emerald Green onto the bottom part of the paper.  I then sprayed the whole thing with a generous amount of water and watched it all blend together.  I also dripped a bit of bleach over the piece to remove some of the paint to add interest.
When my paper was all dry, I used a die and cut the center of the card so I could use that piece to stamp the This Day sentiment from Penny Black and embossed with white.  I mounted that onto a black piece of cardstock and pop dotted it over the cut away area.

Blue Watercolour

Happy Saturday!

This morning, I am playing along with the challenge at Splitcoast as we are being inspired by the Michael's Colours Pinterest board.
Here is the board I chose:

I wanted to play with my new Penny Black stamp called Trumpet Song again, but this time I wanted to try and give it a 2-step stamping look.
Here is what I did.  I began by inking my flowers with markers.  I used Memento and Crayola markers as they both blend with water.  I coloured directly onto the stamp then sprayed with water and stamped.
Then, to get the look of a 2-step stamp, I wiped the stamp off and coloured just the centers of the flowers with a grey marker and stamped right over the wet flowers.  I love the way they turned out!
The grey gave some definition and added more interest to the flowers.
Last, I stamped the sentiment from Sprinkles and Smiles to finish off my card.

Happiness in Red

Today at Splitcoast, we are celebrating the Red Cross with making a card using red and white.

It gave me the perfect chance to use the newly released stamp from Penny Black called
Trumpet Song.  What a fantastic stamp to use for a watercolouring technique.
Here's what I did.  I used Memento and Crayola markers in shades of red and two shades of green to colour directly onto my stamp.  I sprayed the stamp with water and stamped onto my watercolour paper.  I then scribbled my Memento marker onto my acrylic block, added water and then using a paint brush, flicked the background with red splatters.
I inked the sentiment from Sprinkles and Smiles with black Memento ink and stamped it in the corner.  I like this saying as you can use is it for so many different occasions.

Cityscape

I just love having time to play and getting some new stamps can be very motivating.
So, I was inspired by this new stamp I just bought from Technique Junkies and of course, my Brushos.

Here's what I did.
I stamped the cityscape and embossed it with clear so it would resist the Brusho paint.  Then I started sprinkling away with some blue and a hint of green.  Sprayed on some water to activate the paint then let it all dry.
Brusho paint can give a very intense looking background but some of the colour can be toned down or even removed by using Bleach.  That's what I did on my card.  I removed some of the ink using Bleach and a paint brush to highlight some of the building.

* Be sure to wash all stamps and brushes right after use with soap and water when using  bleach.*

Memory Lane

Welcome to the weekend...a long one for us here in Canada.

This a.m. I checked out the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast....it was a wonderful trip down 'memory lane'.  Today, we are being inspired by a Barbie Doll Pinterest Board.  Amazing vintage Barbies.  I played with them all the time when I was a child.   It reminded me of my Mom and how she would make little hats for our Barbies using the paper tops of the glass milk bottles (I just really dated myself!).

Here is the gorgeous Barbie that inspired my card:

I began by heat embossing the feather stamp from Technique Junkies with white powder.
Then, I sprinkled Brusho (paint medium) over the embossing and sprayed with water. That's when the magic happens and the rich, beautiful colours emerge.  I cut the panel for interest and added the sentiment with pop dots.

Take Me Away

Long Weekends...sun...warm...beach.
It is our long weekend here in Canada.  Sure wish I was going to the beach.

Here is today's card inspired by two challenges at Splitcoast this am.
If you have never inked up your acrylic block before, you need to try it.  So easy and makes for a great background.  So, I took my acrylic block and pressed my blue Distress inks directly onto the block;  sprayed with water then pressed onto my watercolour paper.  As the ink soaks into the paper and dries, it leaves such a wonderful watercoloured background all ready to be stamped on.
I inked up the stamps from Gina K then stamped for an instant beach scene.
To add interest, I cut a square frame then scored the edges of the frame to add texture.

Nature Emerges

Morning.
This is such an exciting time of year with all of nature emerging.  I love looking out the window and seeing colour.  I am feeling inspired this a.m. after seeing the challenge at Splitcoast which was called May flowers; use our flower stamps.

I am having such a blast playing with my watercolour crayons so grabbed them and a flower stamp from Magenta and began colouring.  I have found by wetting my stamp first with water, then colouring with the crayons directly onto the stamp,  I get a great blended watercolour look when stamping.
This great sentiment from Serendipity was stamped with black Memento ink and done.

Thoughtful

Morning.  Meet today's card.
The CAS challenge at Splitcoast was to create a Thank-You card so here is what I came up with.

I inked the Pop Pop Poppy from Penny Black by using my watercolour crayons.
First, I wet the stamp with water and a paint brush then I colour directly onto the stamp with the crayons.  By adding the water, it helps the colours blend together when stamping.
Next, I stamped the sentiment from PTI with black Memento ink and added some paint splatters.
My card needed something more so I drew in a black-line border with a fine tip marker.

Watercolour Birthday

Morning.
Here is a simple card I made using my watercolour crayons again.

I took out one of my favourite stamps from Penny Black called Hillflowers.  That stamp is super for colouring on or just using as a silhouette.
For this card, I using my watercolour crayons.  Using a wide paint brush, I wet the stamp with water then coloured directly onto my stamp with various shades of blue and greens for the stems.  I gave a small spray of water over all and stamped onto my watercolour paper.
I scribbled some crayon onto my non-stick craft sheet, sprayed with water and used that to add the paint splatters.  When that was all dry, I sponged the edges with Salty Ocean Distress ink.
The sentiment is so fun.  It is from the Sprinkles and Smiles set.

Embrace Happiness

Happy Saturday....do you want to 'embrace happiness'?
It is the weekend after all and a good time to play.

I am playing along with the challenge at Splitcoast which was themed May.  So we were asked to use the colours of May; Emerald and Sapphire.  Thought of my Brushos right away.

I wanted to make a collage style card since I haven't done one in a very long time.
I took out my Frayed Burlap stencil from Ranger and laid it onto my 90 lb. watercolour paper.  Using a small Versamark cube, I randomly pressed it over my stencil just in the corner of my paper.  Removed the stencil then sprinkled on some white embossing powder and heat set.
I then went over that with grunge stamps from Papertrey Ink and embossed them with white too.
Took out my Brushos (a crystalized paint medium) and sprinkled it over my paper; sprayed with water and watched the magic happen.
Last, I stamped and white embossed the sentiment from Penny Black onto a scrap of black cs. and pop dot mounted it over the background.

Happy Smiles

Happy Smiles. That's what I am doing today.
I am the GD over at the Craft Stamper blog where the challenge this month is:

I got out my watercolour crayons for this one.  First, I wet my flower stamp from Unity with water and a paint brush.  You could just mist it with a spray but I wanted to be sure it was saturated with water.
I then coloured directly onto the stamp with 2 shades of blue, sprayed with water and stamped.  I sprayed with water to give a more blended, watercolour look to the flowers.
When that was dry, I inked the edges of my card using Salty Ocean Distress ink.
I stamped the sentiment from Kaisercraft with black Memento ink and done.

Daisy Day

Morning.
Here is the card for today.  Playing with my Brushos again but this time over an embossed background.

I began by using an old Stampin Up wheel (sorry I don't know the name but it gives a distress look) and inked it with Versamark.  I rolled it over the main panel and then embossed it using white embossing powder.  Then out came the Brushos.  I sprinkled them over the embossing and sprayed with water.
I set that aside and let it all dry.

The daisies are a digital image from A Day for Daisies.  I printed it out onto heavy weight cardstock and cut it out.  I coloured the image using Copic markers and pop dot mounted it over my Brusho background.
I think it made for a happy feeling card.

One of a Kind

Welcome to the weekend!
So nice to have some extra time to play.

This morning at Splitcoast, we are being inspired by the Novica site with an added tribute to our Moms.
My mom was such an amazing person.  She lived sharing her kindness, laughed as she treasured those precious moments with family and friends and loved deeply.  She was my best friend and I miss her so much everyday.
I chose these earrings as my inspiration.  They are so unique and beautiful, just like my mom; made from orchid petals.

To create my card, I placed a stencil from Prima along the side of my 90lb watercolour paper and applied some Gesso over that.  When dry, I sprinkled on some Brusho in blue and purple and then sprayed with water.  Brushos are a crystal paint medium that are activated by adding water.
I love how the colours emerged leaving a wonderful design behind as the Gesso acted as a resist.
I stamped the sentiment from Rubbernecker onto a piece of black cardstock with Versamark, then embossed it with white.
