Relax

Good Morning.
Here is a collage style card I made a few weeks ago but just never had time to post.
I do enjoy making this style of card as it uses lots of different stamps and has a lot of interest.

I began by creating my background.
I rubbed Tea Dye Distress Oxide ink over my stencils in various areas, varying the patterns for interest.  I set that aside and started working on the main panel.
I masked a small piece of cardstock that I had leftover from another project with some Post-It tape and stamped away using a variety of stamps but staying with the same colour as the stenciled background.  I find the look of the card is more cohesive is I stay in the same colour family.
When I was happy with the stamping, I splattered with some more diluted ink and then placed the piece inside my Misti to stamp the flowers and the sentiment.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Sunrise

Hello and Welcome.
Here is a very simple card using this great stamp from Technique Junkies.
I just spent a few day at the beach so this card makes me smile with the good memories I have.

Here's how I created my card.

I began by masking my white card front with some Post-It Tape.
I then placed the paper inside my Misti, stamped the image and clear heat embossed it so it would resist the ink I was about to put over it and still shine through.
Next, I took a piece of clear acetate, rubbed some Distress Oxide inks onto it, sprayed with water and pressed the ink over my image.
I have a pictorial about how to do it here:
When the ink was dry, I removed the tape and simply mounted it over a piece of blue cardstock to match the blue background.
I think this would make a great card for a guy.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Live Big

Hello and so happy you stopped by.
I'm trying out a new-to-me technique called
Alcohol Marker Marbling
(the link takes you to Splitcoast Stampers)

This is a very simple technique using alcohol based markers like Copics.
Here is what I did to create my card.

I took a plastic sandwich bag and coloured onto it with my Copic markers in purple and blues.
I then sprayed it with a good amount of rubbing alcohol and then dabbed my photo paper into the wet ink.  I was left with a lovely, unique looking bkg.
The piece dried very quickly, so I placed it into my Misti and stamped the thistles and the sentiment.
Pretty simple CAS card.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
Have a great weekend.

Awesome

Hello and Welcome.
Today, I'm sharing a card I had fun with.
I created it using my Brushos.  For those of you who don't know what Brushos are, they are highly pigmented powder that you activate with water.  You can watercolour with them or just sprinkle them onto your cardstock, spray with water and watch them come alive.

So here's what I did to create my card.

I laid my circle stencil down onto a piece of scrap paper, sprinkled some Brushos onto the back of it, sprayed with a good amount of waterc then pressed my paper into the wet inky stencil creating a monoprint.  When I lifted it, I was left with a fun pattern from the stencil.
After that dried, I stamped the biker then the sentiment and clear heat embossed them to help make them pop against the colourful background.

Magic- Quick CAS card

Hello and Welcome.
Here is a simple, one-layer card I made using my Distress Oxide inks.
I love playing with them and combining colours to see what kind of look I can come up with.

So here's what I did to create my card.
I began by masking off my card front using some Post-It tape to help create a framed look.
I sponged on some Faded Jeans, Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide inks, blending them as I went along.
I sprinkled on some water to help lift some of the ink and give more interest to my background.
I also lifted some of the colour by using a piece of drywall tape rubbed over with a wet paper towel.
I removed the tape I had used to mask from the sides, then placed the piece inside my Misti to stamp the flowers.
I stamped the sentiment from Penny Black and done.

Woven Background

Scraps, scraps and even more scraps.
Do you save your scraps like I do, then scratch your head and wonder why you saved them?
Well, here is just one idea about what to do with them.

I decided to create a woven background.
Super easy and fun too.

Here's what I did.
I began by cutting my 'scraps' into strips of different width.  Some were 1/2" and some were a 1/4" wide.  I placed a piece of tape along the top of a piece of white cardstock then laid down my vertical strips in a colour combination I was happy with.  Then I took the coordinating strips and wove them horizontally into the first ones by going over and under.
When I was done weaving them together, I glued the ends in place then used a stitched die to cut the piece out.  I simply glued that onto a white base then die cut the flowers to add to the front.

I hope you will give it a try.

Rainy Day in the City

Hello and Welcome.
It's a super rainy day here today so I thought I would post my Rainy Day card.  We sure need the rain after this dry, hot summer we have had.  It also gave me a chance to play with this fun stamp from Technique Junkies, one of my favs.

Using a piece of heavy white cardstock, I placed the stamp inside my Misti, inked with some Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide ink and stamped onto my paper.  I moved my paper slightly inside my Misti, inked my stamp with some Faded Jeans DOX and stamped again.  I repeated that process with some Hickory Smoke and I was left with a blurred image like you would have on a rainy day.
I then took a wet paintbrush and blended the colours together, then using some more ink, I did a watercolour wash on the sky.  I splattered on some diluted ink to give the effect of rain then stamped the sentiment along the bottom.
The rain is making me 'smile' today.

Full Bloom- CAS Watercolour Challenge

Hello and Welcome
Time for another card for the

Our theme this month is Sunflowers.
Check out the wonderfully sunny gallery and our guest Izzy (Izzy Scrap).

To create my card, I placed this large flower stamp into my Misti and stamped it with black Memento ink.  Next, I cut it down around the edged and fussy cut out the flower petals at the bottom for more interest.
I then watercoloured it using some diluted Brushos and a paintbrush, blending the yellows to keep my flower sunny and bright.
When that was dry, I added lots of Glossy Accents to my flower head; just too bad you can't see that in the photo.
I stamped the sentiment using my Misti again, then added a few black gems for interest.
Using a fine line black marker, I traced around the whole outside to help define the outline of the flower then lastly, I simply mounted it onto a white card and done.

One- Layer Stenciled- The Flower Challenge

Welcome
Time for another card for
This month we are creating One Layer cards

My one layer card came together quickly.
I have wanted to pick up this wonderful stencil set from Altenew forever and was pleased to have a chance to play with it.
I laid the stencil on my card front and masked using some Post-It Tape, then applied Distress Oxide inks over different areas of the stencil until I was happy with the results.
This is a two-step stencil where you ink the base in first, then add the overlay with other colours on top of that.
I added a birthday sentiment from MFT and done.

I hope you will join us and play along.

Happy Wedding Day

We had the pleasure of attending a special friend's wedding on the weekend.  It was a joy and a blessing to see how happy they are together.

I wanted to make an elegant, yet simplified card and here is what I came up with.
I began with a piece of white cardstock.  I place my Mini Lace stencil from TCW over the paper and pressed on some Versamark ink over it being sure to get into all the corners and edges.
I sprinkled on some shiny silver embossing powder and heat embossed it.
Next, using my Misti, I stamped the 'Congratulations' sentiment across the bottom and I splattered some silver paint over the stenciled area as well.
I die-cut the Olive Branch and the Berry Branch with more white cardstock and glued them onto the front.  I tied a piece of silver ribbon at the top to add to interest and more shine.

Instead of putting the card into an envelope, I created a small box to place it in.
I stamped it using a large floral image, then tied it up with more silver twine and a congrats die-cut.

Just Swinging By

Hello and Welcome
Here is a simple, fun, cas card I made for one of my little friends.

Here's what I did to create it.
First, I stamped the monkey image using my Misti then used the matching die to cut it out.
I coloured him using my Copic markers which was very simple with this easy image.
Next, I stamped the 'bubble wrap' background using some Peacock Feathers Distress ink and then I pop dotted the monkey over that.
I stamped the Happy Birthday and mounted the whole thing onto a piece of matching brown cardstock.

That's it.

Life is Good

Happy Day!
It's the weekend, I'm starting my holidays and had some time to play.
I wanted to create a card using some new toys I just picked up from SSS.
Very simple card to create.

I began by masking off my card front with some Post-It tape, laid down my stencil, then rubbed over it with some Peacock Feathers and Faded Jeans Distress Oxide inks.  I splattered with some water to help lift off some of the colour and add some depth.
While that dried, I die cut the flower frame, then glued it over the stenciled bkg.
I added a blue button to the center of the flower that matched the bkg.
I like the crisp, clean look it has.

At the Beach

Good Morning.
Time for a summertime card and besides, who wouldn't love relaxing on a beach somewhere.

This card was super easy to create using images from a sweet Penny Black set called Summer Fun.
The set is filled with fun, summer images just perfect for creating little vignettes.
I began by creating my background.  You can see my Mini Pictorial here about how I did it

When that was drying, I stamped the chair and the flip flops, fussy cut them out and then coloured them using my Copic markers.  I stamped the sentiment, then pop dotted the chair and flip flops over the beachy background.
Using my ScorPal, I scored a frame around the panel which helped give it a bit more presence.

Hope you are enjoying your summer.

Baby Hugs

Hello and Welcome.
Meet today's card...a simple one for a new arrival and such an exciting time.

I wanted to 'pink' up my card as much as possible, so I began with stamping the pink plaid background. Very easy to do with the help of my Misti and this great stamp from Concord & 9th.
I used some Colorbox pink pigment ink which stamped beautifully.
For the main panel, I first stamped the bubbles with more of the pink then stamped the sentiment and the onsie.  I stamped the onesie again on Designer Paper then fussy cut it out and glued it over the image. After colouring in the heart with my Copics, I mounted that panel over the plaid.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look and sincere and heartfelt thanks for all your most kind, generous comments.  I am so behind in visiting so many of you but will do my best to get there soon.

Simple One Layer and Tutorial- The Flower Challenge

Welcome
Time for another fun theme at
This month our theme is One layer cards.
Please check out the wonderful cards the DT's have created.
Hope you will feel inspired to join us.

So onto my card.
I added a tutorial for those of you that are visual learners and for those of you that have never tried this super simple technique.

Step #1
I gathered my supplies. Two colours of DOX, white cardstock folded into a  4 1/4" x 5 1/2" card and my acrylic block. Forgot to add my water Mister from TH to the picture.

Step #2
Ink up your acrylic block with the Bundled Sage at the bottom and the Peacock Feathers DOX at the bottom.

Step #3
Spray the block with water then press onto you cardstock trying not to wiggle it around.  Lift and remove.  You are left with a lovely, inky space to stamp over.

Step #4
When the ink is dry, mask the inked area.  I used some Post-It tape on mine.
Then, I placed it inside my Misti, inked with Memento black and stamped the flowers.

Step #5
I removed the tape then stamped the sentiment.
A simple one-layer card is born.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Sunny Sunflowers- CAS Watercolour Challenge

Hello and Welcome.
Time for another great challenge at the

Our theme this month is Sunflowers.
Please check out the wonderful cards done by our talented DT's and our guest Izzy (Izzy Scrap) who is joining us this month.

So onto my card.
I love the look of sunflowers with their majestic presence and the bright, sunny color they have.

I began by cutting a circle from my heavy white cardstock using a die from Spellbinders.
I stamped the Sunny Pair from Penny Black onto the circle then watercoloured the flowers using some diluted Brushos.  I used some Peacock Feathers to watercolour in the background and a bit of drywall tape to add some stenciling.
When that was all dry, I added some white details around the flower heads using a white Signo Gel Pen, stamped the sentiment and then applied some Glossy Accents to the flower heads to help make them pop.
I used the next larger circle die to emboss my card front and glued my painted circle inside of that creating a framed effect.

Thanks so much for coming to take a look.
I hope you will play along with us.
