It's Sunday morining and I am playing with inks again and the challenge at Splitcoast. This background technique is a very easy one but the results are wonderful especially if you like stamping directly over patterns or backgrounds.
I began by inking up my large acrylic block with DYE INK and dripped Blending Solution over the ink. (I tried using different inks but the dye ink is the only one that will react properly with the Blending Solution) When you drip the solution onto the ink, it pushes the colour away and you are left with areas that are white with the colour all around.
When it was dry, I stamped the flowers from Unity and the sentiment from Penny Black called Growing Free and added the black pearls to the base of the flowers. The whole panel was then mounted to the card front using pop dots. I love these colours together.
Also adding my card to these challenges:
Mixed Media- TOUCH OF NATURE
Fantasy Stampers Challenge- CLEAN and SIMPLE
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
Supplies: stamps- Penny Black, Unity/ Dye ink/ Blending Solution/ Memento bl/ pearls/ pop dots/ acrylic block

Great technique and card. Love the colours and layout. Elaine
Gorgeous card Karen. I love the background. I use dye inks a lot, but have only used the blending solution with alcohol inks. I'll have to give this a try. Love the beautiful combination of blues and purple. Beautiful stamp and sentiment. Always inspired when I see your cards! Loll xx\
Gorgeous background and I love the sentiment! What type of blending solution is it? Very beautiful card!
Wow! What a great job you did on this!
Awesome card ! The free flowing colors on bg go perfectly with the sentiment.Loved it !
Stunning card! Your background is fantastic.
I am so happy that I subscribed to your blog! When it appeared in my e-mail this morning, I was thrilled to see those fabulous colors and watercolor look come up! Every post of yours is an inspiration.
Gorgus!! I have to try this! Was it just regular white card stock you stamped the background on with the acrylic block, or watercolor paper? The blending fluid is the one from Copic, right?
Beautiful colours and a fab technique. Thanks for joining us at Fantasy Stampers for our CAS challenge. :)
You always do such a fabulous job with the inky backgrounds and this is no exception. I love that sentiment, too.
You're card is stunning!! I will definitely have a go at this technique. :)
What colors. What a technique! I can't quite fathom how you got those "crisp" lines aroung the edge but that is so cool. Thanks for hooking up at The Mixed Media Card Challenge this month.
