Good Times- Collage Stamped Backgrounds

Welcome.
Today, I have the pleasure of hosting the TLC (Technique Lovers) Challenge at Splitcoast Stampers.  I am calling my challenge Collage Stamped Backgrounds.
I love that I can use multiple stamps to create such interesting backgrounds for my cards.  I like to challenge myself to see how many different stamps I can actually accumulate on one card!!

I began by taking a piece of white cardstock and masked the edges using some Post-It tape.
I really like the look of a nice, clean white border.
I stamped images, grunge elements from many different sets all listed below using some Fossilized Amber and Dried Mustard Seed Wild Honey Distress Oxide inks and my Dried Marmalade Distress inks.  Really fun to see what kind of combinations I could come up with.  When I was happy with the background stamping, I sponged the edges with some Dried Mustard to help define the main area.
I placed the stamped background into my Misti, then stamped the sentiment and the flowers to finish my card off.  I scored a border around the sponged area using my ScorPal and then simply mounted it all onto a white card.

I ended up using 12 stamps on my card today!!

I made the picture extra large so you could see the details I stamped.

I challenge you to create a 'collage stamped background'.  Pull out your stamps and play.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Just Swimming By

Hello and Welcome.
Just a fun card I made for one of my little friends that was having a birthday.
Simple card using this cute fish image.

I began by making the background using the 'Splash Watercolour' technique.  I rubbed some Mermaid Lagoon, Peacock Feather and Cracked Pistachio Distress inks onto my non-stick mat, sprayed with water and slapped my paper into the wet ink, drying between layers of ink.
When it was dry, I used the Avery Elle Wonky Stitched die to cut it out.

Next, I stamped the fish from Your Next Stamp using my Misti, die cut it out and watercoloured with more of the Distress inks. I added some Glossy Accents in a heavy layer over the mask on the fish to add some interest and make it look like it was glass.  I pop dot mounted the fish over the background and added it all to a plain white card.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Puddle Jumping- CAS Watercolour Challenge

Hello and Welcome.
Time for another card for the

This month we are using one of my favourite techniques as our challenge:

I have used this technique often and find it a fun and easy way to create colourful background.
Be sure and check out the video links and all the wonderful cards created by our talented Design Team and our special guest Marcia over at the Challenge page.

So onto my card.
I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock I pick up from a local store.
I rubbed some Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean and some Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide inks onto my non-stick craft mat, sprayed with water and slapped my paper into the wet ink, drying between colours.  I tried to concentrate the colour to the bottom of my paper leaving more white open space at the top.
When that was dry, I placed the piece into my Misti and stamped the image and the fun sentiment with black Memento ink then clear embossed them to help make them pop.
I simply mounted the finished piece onto a white card.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Playing with Blue- The Flower Challenge

Good Morning.
Time for another card at

Great theme we are playing with this month
MONOCHROME
(we can use black for the sentiment)

So onto my card.
I love to play with my inks especially my Distress Oxides.  I often rub them onto a piece of acetate or my non-stick craft mat, spray with water and ink up my paper.
My dilemma comes after that....what to do with the leftover ink since I hate to waste it?   So now, I always keep an extra piece of cardstock handy to mop up the extra ink left behind and that is how this background came to be.

I used some Peacock Feathers and Salty Ocean DOX, sprayed with water and pressed my cardstock into that.  After it dried, it was just a mess of color with no focal area, so I took a stencil and some Blueprint Sketch DOX and stenciled right over the inkiness.  I loved the results!
When that was all dry, I placed the piece into my Misti and stamped the sentiment with Memento black ink and clear heat embossed to help it pop against the inked background.
I die-cut the flowers, glued them in place and then I added some clear gems to help the flowers pop, keeping my card simple and very monochrome.

Thanks so much for coming by to take a look.
Please check out the amazing card at our challenge too.

Monochromatic- The Flower Challenge

Good Morning
Time for a new theme at

Create a monochromatic card.

My card was very simple to create.
I started by using the Splash Watercolour Technique to create the background.  Basically, you rub ink onto a non-stick surface, spray with water and 'slap' your cardstock into the wet ink.
I used Distress Oxides in blues, keeping my card base monochromatic.
* I dry my inks between applications so I won't end up with a muddy colour*
When that was dry, I die-cut the background using a Wonky Stitched die from Avery Elle.
Next, I placed the piece into my Misti and stamped the flowers and the sentiment with Faded Jeans DOX.  I stamped the flowers again using Peacock Feathers to add some shadowing to the flowers.
I mounted it onto white keeping it clean and simple.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.  I hope you check out this fun challenge.

Splash Watercolour- CAS Watercolour Challenge

Hello and Welcome.

Just a fun card today for the

This month we are playing with a simple technique called Splash Watercolour.  I have done many backgrounds using this technique.  There is a video link on the main challenge blog.
This month, we welcome our guest Marcia aka Marcia K Designs.

So onto my card design.
I pressed Picked Raspberry, Blueprint Sketch and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide ink onto my non-stick craft mat, sprayed with water and 'slapped' my piece of white cardstock into the wet ink. I dried between inks so I wouldn't end up with a muddy mess.  The inks layer over each other so nicely.
When I was happy with the coverage, I die cut the piece using a Wonky Stitched border.  Next, I  placed the piece inside my Misti to stamp the sentiment and the flowers with black Memento ink.
After stamping the flowers, I drew around the flowers with a white Signo pen to brighten the whole piece up.  I simply mounted it onto another piece of white cardstock keeping it clean and simple.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.  I hope you will come and play along with us.

Smile Day

Happy Sunday.
We are celebrating Canada Day and a long weekend here so I am having a 'smile day'.

HAPPY CANADA DAY TO ALL MY CANADIAN FRIENDS!!

Very simple card to create today.
I began by masking the edges of my white cardstock with some Post-It tape.
Next, I rubbed some Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink over my Sweet Peas stencil, sprayed with water and pressed onto my paper to create a stencil monoprint.  I dried that thoroughly then using my Misti, I stamped the Wildflowers using some Blueprint Sketch DOX and added the sentiment at the top.
I put the piece onto my ScorPal and scored around the inked piece creating a frame effect.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
