Lots of Holiday Cheer

Today, I am playing with 2 new stencils from A Colorful Life Designs.

On the background I used the Dotted Poinsettia and for the bow I used the Christmas Cover stencil.

So, here's what I did to create my card.

• I cut a piece of white cardstock and placed it onto my Make Art Station with the Dotted Poinsettia stencil over that.
• I inked it up with some Rustic Wilderness and some Candied Apple Distress Oxide ink.
• I got another piece of white cardstock and placed the Christmas Cover stencil over my paper and inked that up with more Candied Apple and added a bit of shading to the bow with some Barn Door DOX ink.  I repeated that process as I wanted the bow to be layered up.
• Next, I fussy cut the bows out, one I cut the whole thing out and the other one just the bow portion without the tails.
• I splattered with my white Posca pen.
• I used some foam tape to pop the largest bow over the front of my stenciled panel, then foam taped the bow part from the second piece I had cut out, over that.  It really added great dimension to the overall look of the bow.
• I glued the main panel onto a piece of red cardstock and then onto an A2 size card panel.
• I die cut the sentiment and inked just parts of it so it wouldn't get lost against the background.
• Lastly, I added some red gems for interest.

I can't believe it's March already but you know what that means!  

Time for another fun theme at the 

CAS Watercolour Challenge.

This month our theme is to watercolour onto Vellum.

We have 2 great guest designers this month-

I have to begin by saying that vellum is not one of my go-to mediums but it was fun to try something different for a change and I was glad to have some on hand to use.

So, I began with a piece of vellum, placed it inside my Misti to help hold it securely and positioned my leaves ready to stamp with.  I coloured my leaves with my Tombow markers, sprayed with water and pressed onto my vellum.  I will caution you, adding too much water will warp your piece of vellum and it is good if you can firmly secure it down to your surface in some way to help prevent that.  

I used a variety of blues and greens to colour my leaves then set aside to dry.
While that dried, I stamped the banner with the sentiment using my Misti, then fussy cut it out.  It needed something more, so using some black acrylic paint, I splattered using a wet paintbrush.
I also die-cut a frame that fit around my piece of vellum and glued it all together.
The framed vellum was pop dotted for interest as was the banner.

Snowy Christmas Greetings

Good Morning

It is cold and frosty here in Ontario and my card reflects this season of icy cold.

I'm not a huge fan of winter but I must say I love making snowflake cards.  Go figure!?

So onto my card.

I began with creating my background.  I wanted to get a good colour blend so I made my own stamp pad.  I did that by pressing my Peacock Feather, Salty Ocean and Faded Jeans DOX inks directly onto my non-stick craft mat, sprayed with water and then dabbed my stamp into the wet ink, moving it around to get good coverage.  I stamped onto my paper then went back in and filled in with some more snowflakes.

To add to the snowy feel, I splattered white acrylic paint all over the top of the inked panel.

While that dried, I stamped the large snowflake onto white cardstock using the same inks and technique as above.  I think this individual snowflake is from an older Hero Arts set? 

I cut it down and mounted it onto white, then I added a shiny Nuvo drop to the center of the snowflake.

I placed the large background into my Misti and stamped the sentiment from Technique Tues. then pop dotted the big snowflake over that.  Simple mounted the whole piece onto a white card base.

Happy Saturday!

With so many birthdays coming up in the next few months, I was happy to have some time to play and created this masculine, collage style card.

I began by masking off a piece of white cardstock using some Post-It tape.  I first did some acetate inking in the background using just 2 colours of Distress Oxides; Peeled Paint and Bundled Sage, rubbed onto a piece of clear acetate.

I placed the piece inside my Misti, then stamped using the same colours and sponged along the edges to help define the main area.

The Rock Silhouette is a new one for me from Impression Obsession and I stamped that using some black Memento ink, then added the sentiment.

After I removed the tape for masking, I scored a line around the inked area as a frame.

Baby Hugs

Hello and Welcome.

Meet today's card...a simple one for a new arrival and such an exciting time.

I wanted to 'pink' up my card as much as possible, so I began with stamping the pink plaid background. Very easy to do with the help of my Misti and this great stamp from Concord & 9th.

I used some Colorbox pink pigment ink which stamped beautifully.

For the main panel, I first stamped the bubbles with more of the pink then stamped the sentiment and the onsie.  I stamped the onesie again on Designer Paper then fussy cut it out and glued it over the image. After colouring in the heart with my Copics, I mounted that panel over the plaid.

Good Times- Collage Stamped Backgrounds

Welcome.

Today, I have the pleasure of hosting the TLC (Technique Lovers) Challenge at Splitcoast Stampers.  I am calling my challenge Collage Stamped Backgrounds.

I love that I can use multiple stamps to create such interesting backgrounds for my cards.  I like to challenge myself to see how many different stamps I can actually accumulate on one card!!

I began by taking a piece of white cardstock and masked the edges using some Post-It tape.

I really like the look of a nice, clean white border.

I stamped images, grunge elements from many different sets all listed below using some Fossilized Amber and Dried Mustard Seed Wild Honey Distress Oxide inks and my Dried Marmalade Distress inks.  Really fun to see what kind of combinations I could come up with.  When I was happy with the background stamping, I sponged the edges with some Dried Mustard to help define the main area.

I placed the stamped background into my Misti, then stamped the sentiment and the flowers to finish my card off.  I scored a border around the sponged area using my ScorPal and then simply mounted it all onto a white card.

I ended up using 12 stamps on my card today!!

I made the picture extra large so you could see the details I stamped.

Here Comes Santa Claus

Morning.

Hope you are having fun creating.

Meet my simple Christmas card using this super cute retro Santa.

At this time of the season, keeping it simple and quick is perfect to finish those last minute holiday cards.  

For my card, I began by stamping the dot pattern along the bottom of my card.  I place the stamp border from WPlus 9 into my Misti, inked it up with Candied Apple Distress ink and stamped.  I moved my paper up in my Misti and stamped again until I was happy with the pattern and spacing.

Next I stamped the sentiment, then stamped the Santa and fussy cut him out.

I pop dotted the flying Santa and done.

 Meet today's card.

I picked up a few new stamping goodies and wanted to play with them.

This beautiful collection of leaves is from a set by WPlus 9.

I began by placing the stamps inside my Misti, coloured the leaves with my new Zig markers, sprayed with water and stamped.  I repeated that process until I was happy with the inking.

I love how the water helps blend the inks into each other to give the look of watercolour.

I die cut the 'Awesome' from Neat and Tangled and coloured it with my Zigs and sprayed with water to help blend the colours.  

The small 'friend' is from an old set by Papertrey ink that I stamped with Versamark then white heat embossed.

Birthday Girl

Happy Sunday and welcome.  Sometimes colour combinations can be difficult and finding a palette or photo can spark our creativity.  If you have never been to the DESIGN SEED site before go check it out.  That is where the inspiration for this card began as I saw this combination of colour.

 

 

Bokeh backgrounds are all the rage right now and I saw a video on UTube that showed how to create an easy bokeh background so I was in.  I began by watercolouring my beachy feeling background on a piece of watercolour paper.  I just used my Distress inks to paint with.  Just using an acrylic block, I rubbed the pads directly onto it then added water and started to paint. 

When that was dry, I used a circle stencil with various sized circles that I had cut from a piece of acetate and randomly sponged on white Color Box pigment ink over that.  The smallest circles were made using the eraser end of a pencil.  Lastly, I stamped the sentiment from WPlus 9 and added my sequins to finish off my card.

Mix it Up

 

It's a sunny, bright day here today.  I felt like making an abstract card with a new stamp I got called 'Patio Stone'.  The challenge at Splitcoast this am is to make a card with lots of dots so I was off to make a card.

I began by making the rectangle shapes you can see in the background.  I made those by inking up my acrylic block with DYE ink and dripping Blending Solution onto the ink.  The Blending Solution pushes the ink so you get a resist looking background.  When that was dry, I stamped the circular Patio Stones with more Dye ink.  Added the sentiment and I was done.  I think this would make a good card for a guy's birthday.
