You Brighten My World

Welcome
Today's card features the Warp Speed stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.
When I saw it, I immediately thought of bright lights and this is the simple design I came up with.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I decided to make a notecard size so I cut my white cardstock 3 3/4" square.
  • I laid it onto my Make Art Station and positioned the Warp Speed stencil over it, being sure to center it up.
  • I began inking in the center with some Mustard Seed Distress Oxide ink, then moved outwards inking it up with some Carved Pumpkin DOX ink next.  I was sure to blend the colours together so it didn't look too orange.
  • I removed the stencil and placed the inked panel into my Misti to stamp the lightbulb in the center of the inked circle.
  • I removed that and stamped the lightbulb again onto a scrap piece of cardstock.  I coloured it using my Copic marker and fussy cut the bulb out.
  • I glued the stenciled piece onto some yellow cardstock and then onto a 4 1/4" square white card base.
  • I pop dotted the bulb I had fussy cut out into position, then covered it with some Nuvo Crystal Glaze to give it a shine.

Here is the stencil I used:

Precious Memories

Welcome
Meet today's card.
I was so happy with how it turned out.
I seldom to never use black cardstock so when it all worked, it made me glad.
I used some bleach to change the colour.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I cut a black cardstock panel, placed it into my Misti and stamped the Winter Floral Mix Background with some Versamark ink.  I white heat embossed that and let it cool.
  • Time to bleach out the black.....not all cardstock will take away the colour of the paper so you need to test it before starting. I had tested mine on a scrap so I knew it would work.  Try to work in a ventilated area as well.
  • Using an OLD paintbrush, I painted in just areas of the background as I wanted to let the black show through.
  • I set it aside to let the black bleach out.  When it was dry, I noticed I had missed a few areas, so I went back in and cleaned them up hence the colour variation of the bleached areas.
  • While it all dried, I grabbed a scrap piece of black and stamped the sentiment with Versamark ink and then white heat embossed it.
  • Before I glued the black stamped panel onto a piece of matching cardstock, I splattered with my white Posca pen, then glued it onto a heavy white card base.
  • I pop dot mounted the sentiment to the side.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

A New Day

Good Morning
Meet today's card.
I am loving playing with this Sun and Surf stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.
I wanted to make a card of encouragement....I think this speaks to that.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began with a piece of white cardstock and placed the Sun and Surf stencil over it.  I masked off the top part of the stencil and then inked up the water using some Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide inks.
  • I moved the mask and then using some Mustard Seed, Dried Marigold and a hint of Barn Door Distress Oxide inks, I inked the sunshine.
  • I removed the mask and using a circle die, I cut it out.
  • I placed the circle into my Misti and stamped the Praise Silhouette over the stenciled background with some Versafine Clair ink and then clear heat embossed it to make it pop.
  • I set that aside and cut my card front.  I placed that into my ScorPal and used my ScorBug to add some details to the background.  It added a lot of interest.
  • I glued the scored panel onto a white card base, then pop dotted the circle over that.  I pop dotted the sentiment as well.

Have a Holly Jolly

Hello and Welcome
I have to say, with being back to work, I have had little time to create so I am really happy to say that I now have a good start on my holiday cards.

So meet today's card.
I just love this stencil from A Colorful Life Designs.  It was fun  to create a simple card that is flat and  easy to mail using a different technique to ink it up.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock and positioned the Snowflake Net stencil over my card panel. I got out my baby wipes and some Distress re-inkers.
  • This baby wipe technique is a bit messy so I would suggest wearing rubber gloves but it is worth it as it gives you are really lovely effect.
  • I took a wet baby wipe, folded it a few times and added a few drops of some Peacock Feathers Distress re-inker onto it.  I pressed the wet baby wipe onto the stencil to transfer the ink.
  • I repeated the process using the wipe again with some Salty Ocean and then some Wilted Violet Distress re-inkers.  The re-inkers are highly pigmented so you don't need a lot.
  • When the piece of dried, I placed it into my Misti and stamped the sentiment from Technique Tues. with some black Versafine, then clear heat embossed it.
  • I thought it needed something to help pull the design together, so I doodled a border around the edges.
  • I added a black gem for interest, then mounted the panel onto a heavy white card base.
