Flowers for You

Welcome to the weekend!  Today, it is time for the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast and I chose a beautiful print (below) as my inspiration for this card.
I coloured my stamp from Rubbernecker using Memento markers, then sprayed with water before stamping to blend the colours.  This stamp set comes with an outline image that I stamped in black.  When it was dry, I added the hand drawn border and the sentiment from Printworks.
Thanks for coming by and taking a look.  Hope you have a great weekend and find a few 'snippets' of spare time to do something you love.

Supplies:  stamps; Rubbernecker, Printworks/ Memento markers and ink/ spray bottle

Fall, Thanksgiving

Getting started on a few Thanksgiving cards since our Canadian Thanksgiving will be in just a couple weeks from now.  The weather is turning cooler and the leaves on the trees look fantastic.
I am playing along with the challenge at Splitcoast today- to use squares, the CASology challenge- Autumn and the CAS-ual Fridays challenge- to use fall colours and a leaf.
I pulled out my leaf stamp from Penny Black and coloured it using Distress ink and Memento markers.  I added some splatters around the sentiment for interest.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a peek.

OLW159- Free for All

Welcome to another OLW challenge (One Layer Wednesdays).
This week the challenge is an easy one:

Free for All- you choose any theme for your one layer card

I chose to create a sympathy card using stamp floral stamps from Rubbernecker.  I love the watercolour look of these stamps and the great layered effects you can get with them.  This stamp set is a 4 part set so you are able to add different colours each time you stamp.  I use a combination of Distress inks and Memento markers to colour my flowers then added scoring lines at the top and the twine to finish off my card.
Sorry for the dull, grainy photo....having issues with my camera.

Surprise

Today, I am playing along with the Featured Stamper challenge at Splitcoast and here is what I came up with.  Playing with my Penny Black stamps and this cute little owl image called At Mimi's Party.  I began by stamping him onto white card stock, coloured with Copics and cut him out.  I added glossy accents to the balloon for shine and google eyes for fun.  I pop dotted him onto my hand drawn bkg. that was sponged with Distress inks.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Supplies:  stamps; Penny Black / Copic markers/ pop dots/ google eyes/ Glossy Accents

Garden Ferns

Ferns are one of my favourite plants in the garden and I find they translate onto my cards very easily.  That's what happened with this one as I am playing along with the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast.  Loved the pillow pictured below.
I was cleaning up in my garden and brought some fronds inside with me.  I laid one on my paper and sprayed with Mr. Huey's mist in brown (can you believe I didn't use blue!!).  When dry, I stamped over the ghost with a Hero Arts fern stamp and added the sentiment.
Always good to have some sympathy cards on hand.  Thanks for popping by.

Celebration

Phew....made it to Friday and luckily, had time to play along with the F4A challenge at Splitcoast this am.  The challenge was to create a card on a card base other then white or ivory.  I grabbed a piece of blue cs then stamped the flourish from Technique Tuesday, first in a darker blue then I white embossed the main image flourish and the sentiment.
Thanks for stopping in today.

Over the Edge

It's Sunday.....sure hope you are having a restful weekend.  Today, I am playing along with the Featured Stamper Challenge at Splitcoast.  I need to make a few thank-you cards to have on hand so this is what I came up with.
I stamped the flowers from a set by Avery Elle off the edge of my paper keeping it all very clean and simple.  I attached the small panel to my card front before stamping with repositionable glue so I could remove it, mount it on the blue cs when I finished stamping.  By mounting it onto the blue piece, you eliminate the gap created when you stamp an uneven surface.
Thanks again for the all the emails and comments.  It really means so much to me!

One Layout, Two Cards

Sometimes life just get plain CRAZY!  (I know you can relate!!)  I have wanted to play with this set from Penny Black for so long now and when I saw the cute cookie cutters (pictured below) at the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast, I just knew I wanted to make a card which turned into 2 cards.
Simple layout, some fussy cutting, coloured with Copics and done.

Here is card #2:

'Smile'

A super easy and quick card this morning.  I love polka dots and don't use my papers as much as I should, so decided to paper piece this little guy from The Alley Way Stamps and play along with the Ways to Use it challenge at Splitcoast.
I stamped this guy onto dp then cut him out so I could glue him to my card front.  I added glossy accents to is nose to make it shiny.
Thanks so very much for coming by to take a look.

 Hope you 'smile' today.

Shining Bright - card #3

Well here it is.  The last of 3 cards that I challenged myself to create using this Fred Mullett stamp.
If you are just tuning in, this weekend, I challenged myself to make 3 different cards using the same image stamps.  I went for different colours and different layouts on all three.
This one is very CAS but I think it has a real elegant feel to it.  Saw the photo below and used those colours.
I started by stamping the image using a combination of Distress inks and spraying with water before stamping.  I added the sentiment and then the scoring lines to help pull it all together.

Special thanks to everyone who so kindly left me a comment or who came to take a peek to see what I was up to.  So very appreciated!!  I may try this again with another image stamp that has some dust on it from sitting in the drawer.

Hope you have a great week.

Happy Earth - card #2

If you tuned in yesterday, this wknd I am challenging myself to make 3 different cards using the same stamp.
So, here is card #2 inspired by the FS challenge and the Inspiration challenge at Splitcoast (inspiration photo below)  I love how the Distress inks blend together when you add water and that is what I did with the image.  I then cut it out and rounded the corners and pop dot mounted it to the flat panel.  The embossed bkg. was created by turning the embossing folder on its side and then running it through my machine.  I added the scoring lines to clean up the edges.

Thanks so much for coming by to take a look and stay tuned for card #3.

Sunrise, Sunset - card #1

Welcome to the weekend.  So happy I am able to get a chance to stamp.
I decided to challenge myself to use this thistle image stamp on three different cards in different ways.  So, over the next couple of days, I will post the other cards that I create using it, so hope you can stay tuned and check in.
To start this challenge to myself, I checked out the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoast and found the Pinterest image (below).  Loved the colours and the warmth it shed.
I started by inking up the stamp with Distress inks in orange and yellow, sprayed with water then stamped onto my card front.  I inked the stamp again with Memento grey and then repeated the image on my card front.
I am also adding this one to the Seize the Birthday; Anything Goes.
Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a look...very appreciated!

Sunday 1 September 2013

Oh Happy Day!

I have to say that water-coloured flowers are one of my most favourites to create and I used that technique to stamps this flower card.
I am playing along with a few challenges today:
Splitcoast:  Featured Stamper
Sieze the Birthday:  Anything Goes
This flower set I used is from Rubberneckers and is so fun to play with.  I coloured the stamp with Memento markers then sprayed with water before stamping.  The colours blend and you get a really great water-coloured effect.  This stamp is a two step image.  When it was dry, I drew in a black border line and then added the sentiment and the black pearls.
Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.  Enjoy you Sunday.

Supplies:  stamps; Rubberneckers, Avery Elle/ Memento markers/ black liner pen
