Doodled Plaid for Christmas

Good Morning.
Today, I have the pleasure of hosting the TLC (Technique Lovers Challenge) over at Splitcoast Stampers.
My challenge is one you may want to try too that I call Doodled Plaid.
I always think that doodling adds such a fun sense of whimsy to any card and as the colder weather approaches, the thought of curling up with a cozy plaid blanket is a very welcoming thought.

I began by die-cutting a circle to use as my mask.  I wanted to create a clean and simple card, one that will be easy to mail.  I placed the mask over my white card front and using this great stencil called
It just made the perfect, whimsical looking plaid for my card front.
I laid the stencil down and rubbed some Peacock Feathers DOX ink over the surface.  I removed the stencil but left the circle mask in place and using a fine-line black marker, I added the lines to make the plaid.
Next, I removed the mask and stamped the sentiment and tree branches over the plaid and to help define the area even more, I pierced holes all around the circle.
The finishing touch was to add 3 blue dots between the branches.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Smile All Season

Hello and Welcome.
I have a confession to make....I love creating background then I scratch my head and just don't know what to do with them to make them into a card!!  Today, I was happy to have come up with an idea to use this alcohol inked bkg piece.

So I began with the alcohol inks dripped onto a piece of Yupo paper.  I added some Ranger Blending Solution to help the colours move and blend together.  I set it aside to dry days ago so it was all ready to go for this card.  For those of you unfamiliar with Yupo paper, it is a synthetic material that doesn't absorb ink.  When you drop alcohol inks onto it with Blending Solution, the effects are just wonderful as the inks sit on the surface and are not absorbed into the paper.
Using the Penny Black Snowflake die, I die-cut it from the piece of inked Yupo and then again onto my white card front.  Then I placed the white front into my Misti and stamped the PB sentiment from the Smiles All Season sentiment set.
I cut the white base a bit smaller then the inked one and glued it over the alcohol background. The snowflake went over that, rotating it a bit so the negative cut away would show through.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Playing with Ink

Good Morning.
Super simple note card today.
I had some time to just play around with ink; something I love to do.

Here are my card details.
I planned on making a clean, CAS card so I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock for my card front.  Instead of inking directly onto my stamp, I wanted to try and get more of a watercoloured look so I rubbed my Distress Oxide ink pads onto my non-stick craft mat, sprayed with a bit of water and wiggled my stamp into the wet ink.  I was so pleased with the stamped image I achieved.
Simple yet elegant looking.
I scored a simple frame around the edges to define the area with my ScorPal and mounted it onto a white card base.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Celebrate Smiles- CAS Watercolour Challenge

Hello and Welcome.
Time for a reminder card for the

We are using a colour theme this month and we are also celebrating our 2nd birthday with prizes so please come and check it all out.

The card I created is a super simple design using green, orange and brown inks.
I began by die-cutting a circle to use as my mask.  I laid the mask in place and stamped the image using some Rich Cocoa Memento ink.  Then I sponged on some Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide inks around the opening of the circle.  Using some Carved Pumpkin and some Bundled Sage, I painted in the background.  Just press your ink pads onto a non-stick craft sheet, spray with some water and you have ink to pick up with a paintbrush.
I removed the circle mask and stamped the sentiment using my Misti with the same brown ink.  Lastly, using a piercing tool, I poked small holes all around the inked circle to help add interest.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
Hope you will come and play along with us.

Sparkle and Shine- The Flower Challenge

Good Morning.
Time for more fun at

Since we are celebrating our 2nd year, there are some fun prizes to be won by adding 'Sparkle' to your card.

So onto my card details.
I picked up some Alcohol Lifting Ink by Ranger/TH and was playing around with it.
Using a piece of Yupo paper, I applied Ranger Alcohol inks and blending solution until I was happy with the coverage of my paper.  It is so cool to try using different tools to get the inks to move.  I mostly used a straw to blow the wet inks around and you do have to work quickly as they dry so fast.
After the piece had dried, I placed it inside my Misti and arranged flowers and leaves randomly ready to stamp onto my Yupo and lift the colour. After inking with the Lifting ink, you are left with something that looks like a 'ghost print'...love the look.

For my sparkle, I silver heat embossed a piece of white cardstock, then die cut the "smile" and glued it over my dried background.  I added some sparkly dots to add to the look.

I hope you will come and play along with us and thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Let's Be Grateful

Hello and Welcome
This weekend we celebrated our Canadian Thanksgiving.
It was so great to have family and friends with us to enjoy and be grateful for all we have.
Here is a card I created for some special friends.

So onto my card.
I just recently picked up some Alcohol Lifting Ink by TH Ranger and wanted to try it out.
When using it, you add alcohol inks onto a piece of Yupo or photo paper and stamp using the ink to lift the colour.  Then, you stamp onto a regular piece of cardstock to transfer the ink from the stamp you just used on the alcohol inked panel.  You are then left with 2 backgrounds, one on Yupo and one on regular cs.  I am just showing one of them today.
This is the one I got from the transfer and is stamped on heavy cardstock.  I love how the colour blends look and the faint ink areas make the leaves and flowers look so artsy.
When the panel was dry, I stamped the sentiment in the center and clear heat embossed it to help make it pop.
I mounted it onto a piece of blue cardstock and then onto a plain white card.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
Feeling very grateful and appreciate that you took the time.

Majestic Snowflakes

Happy World Cardmaking Day!!
So happy I had a chance to play today.
So meet today's card.

I began with a piece of Yupo paper and applied some Ranger Alcohol inks with some blending solution.  The Yupo paper is a synthetic paper that doesn't allow the inks to soak in...I love it's unique properties and how the inks can be manipulated.  I did use a straw and some blending solution to help move the ink on my paper even more.
When I was happy with the coverage, I set it aside to dry.
When dry, I placed the piece inside my Misti and stamped the snowflakes from the Penny Black set called Snowflake Sentiments with Versamark ink.  I carefully!! heat embossed them with silver embossing powder.
** Be careful when heat embossing onto Yupo, your paper can warp very easily if too much heat is applied.**
To help fill in some of the open areas, I dragged my mini Versamark pad down the front and heat embossed some more silver to add interest.  I mounted the piece over white cardstock that I had embossed with the Snowflake Speckles eb folder.
I die-cut the Let It Snow sentiment and glued it on last.

Hope you get a chance to play today and thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Sparkle- The Flower Challenge

Welcome
Time for some more fun at

We have a fun month coming up with a great 'Sparkle' theme as we celebrate our 2nd Birthday.
There are prizes to be won so please come and play along with us.
To celebrate, someone will win a $20 Gift card, a Guest Spot and there are also stamps and stencil to won as well.

So onto my card details.
A few weeks ago, I came across a technique called Serendipity.
Basically you take a piece of cardstock as the base and all your left over inked pieces, which in my case are a lot!!  Next, you tear your leftovers into pretty small pieces and glue them onto your basec being sure to overlap and mix them up.
When you base is totally covered with little scraps of papers, let it dry and then rub over it with a anti-static bag.  You stamp onto it and emboss with any colour you want.  I chose to use my Script stamp from Penny Black and embossed with a shiny silver to help give lots of detail and sparkle.
I cut my base into strips and mounted them behind the framed flower.  I saved a bit of my leftover paper to add as the matching flower head and added a clear shiny gem to the center.
I wove a piece of silver ribbon to help give my card more sparkle.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
Hope you will come and play along with us.

Gather- CAS Watercolour Challenge

Hello and welcome friends.
So glad you came to visit as it's time for another new theme at the
We have a colour challenge for you this month which is perfect for this time of year.

This month we are also celebrating our Second Birthday with prizes to be won!
This month we also welcome our Guest Brenda from Friends Craftin with Friends.

You have to check out the beautiful cards made by our Creative Team.

So onto my card.
I decided to create a Fall card for Thanksgiving which is coming up this weekend for us here in Canada.  So I began by masking my card front with some Post It Tape as I wanted to be left with a wide white border.
Next, I gave a light spray of water to my card front, then I used the Inking With Tape Technique to add colour to my background using my orange Distress Oxide inks.  By spraying my paper with water first, it helped all the colour blend together giving a watercolour look.
I placed the dried piece into my Misti and stamped the sentiment in dark brown then clear embossed it to help it pop (sorry it looks black) and then inked and sprayed on some water to the leaves using some more green and more of the dark brown.
When stamping with DOX inks, you are left with a chalky looking background.  So to bring out the richness of the colours, I rubbed some Distress Glaze over the whole thing to bring the colours to life.  The glaze is like a wax that you rub on and then buff off.  Love how it worked.
I removed the tape used to mask and mounted it onto a plain white card base.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
Hope you will come and play along with us.
