Simple Print

Welcome
Today's card is a simple Gel Plate print using some grasses I picked on a walk.
The grasses make such a lovely, natural looking print.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I got out my Gel Plate and pressed some Mustard Seed, Carved Pumpkin and some Fired Brick Distress Oxide ink directly onto the plate.
  • I brayered the colours together loosely, not too concerned about covering the whole plate with ink.
  • I laid the grasses I have brought home on the plate, then rubbed my cardstock onto the plate and took the print.
  • It dries almost instantly, so I placed it into my Misti and stamped the sentiment to the side.
  • I splattered with my white and black Posca pen to add interest.
  • I glued the print onto a piece of white cardstock, then onto a pale pinkish cardstock, then onto an A2 size card base.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Beauty

Welcome
Today's card was inspired by the CAS Challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers.
The challenge was to 'CASE YOURSELF'.
Here is my card I cased:

I think it's a good feeling to look back into your gallery of cards created.  Sometimes it sparks a new idea or helps us to remember an old technique that we want to use again.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began by looking through my stash of Gel Plate print backgrounds.  *I made this print by applying paint to my brayer and then rolling it over this fun stencil called Busy Gears to pick up the pattern.  Just roll over your stencil once!  I took the brayer and immediately rolled it onto my Gel plate, depositing the painted pattern onto the plate. I repeated that process and then rubbed a piece of heavy cardstock over the print to lift it.  This is what I was left with.
  • I placed the dry piece into my Misti and stamped the Long Stem Flowers from Rubbernecker with some black ink and then I used some Ranger black embossing powder to heat emboss.  *by using the black eb powder, it really helps the stamped images to pop especially against the painted bkg.*
  • I repeated that process using this new-to-me sentiment I got for Christmas from Impression Obsession.  I then splattered using my black Posca pen.
  • I glued the finished panel onto some white cardstock, then onto a matching piece of coloured cardstock, then finally onto a heavy white card base.

Here is the stencil I used:

Beauty and Love

Welcome
Today's card is another one I did using the Big Leaves stencil from A Colorful Life Designs and my Gel Plate.  This is going to be an anniversary card for a friend who loves purple. I love using this stencil for creating so many different occasion cards.

So here are my card details.

  • I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock, my Gel Plate, some purple acrylic paint, a piece of acetate and my brayer.  I find it helpful to have all my supplies ready when making prints with my Gel Plate.
  • I squeezed out some purple paint onto my acrylic sheet and fully inked up my brayer by rolling it through the wet paint.  Don't roll too much or you will end up removing paint from your brayer.
  • I rolled the paint covered brayer over my leaf stencil, then rolled the brayer onto my Gel Plate.
  • BE SURE to only roll over the stencil once and only once onto your Gel Plate for a good impression.
  • I immediately rubbed my cardstock over my Gel Plate to lift the print.
  • When it was dry, I stamped the sentiment using my Misti with some Versafine Clair Noir and clear heat embossed it.
  • I added some splatters using my black Posca pen and added the panel to a piece of pale purple cardstock, then onto a heavy white card base.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Summer Roses- The Flower Challenge

Welcome
A new month means a new theme at
The Flower Challenge

This month our theme is:

Our Guest Designer this month is Mac Mable from thesweetestofpeas. Do check out her blog if you have a minute as she makes such fabulous cards.

I chose Summer for the theme of my card so here is what I did to create my card.
I began by making the background using my Gel Plate.  I wanted a white border on my card so I positioned my Rectangle Acrylic Mask onto my heavy white cardstock first, then I brayered some Salty Ocean DOX ink onto the plate, splattered with some diluted Blueprint Sketch DOX ink and pulled my print.
Leaving the mask in place, I stamped the roses along the top then coloured them using my Zig Waterbrush markers.  I dried that and then stamped the sentiment and clear heat embossed it.
I mounted the panel onto a pale mauve piece of cardstock, then onto a heavy white card base.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
I hope you will come and play along with us.
