To a Special Person

Good Morning
Today's card is all ready for Fall and features the new for September stencil from A Colorful Life Designs called:

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began by getting out my Gel Plate and I pressed my Mustard Seed and Ripe Persimmon Distress Oxide ink pads directly onto the plate. I used my brayer to blend the colours and placed the Filigree Leaf stencil onto the plate.
  • Next, I rubbed over the plate with a scrap piece of paper, then took the stencil off and rubbed over it with my white cardstock to pull up the print.
  • When it was dry, I put the stencil back into place over the print and inked with some Ripe Persimmon, Lumberjack Plaid and some Rustic Wilderness DOX ink, filling in the open areas left behind when I took the print from the Gel Plate.
  • I removed the stencil and splattered with my white Posca pen.
  • I stamped and die cut the sentiment on some white cardstock.
  • I glued my card front panel onto a piece of white cardstock, then red and then onto an A2 sized card base.
  • The final step was to add the sentiment using some foam tape over the middle of the leaf.

Here is the stencil I used:

Wishing You Good Luck

Hello and Welcome
This month over at A Colorful Life Designs, we have a lot of fun new stencils with part of the release being a St. Patrick's Day theme.
This new stencil is just right for that occasion. It is called:
This is a 2-part stencil with lots of possibilities.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I placed a piece of white cardstock onto my Make Art Station and put the clover stencil from the Layered Freckled Clover onto my paper. *For today's card I am only using one of the 2 stencils in this set*  I inked over the stencil with some Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide ink.
  • I lifted the stencil off, cleaned it with a wet paper towel and repositioned it over the panel.  I inked again using some Rustic Wilderness DOX ink.  It gave a lovely layered look.
  • Next, I took the stenciled panel and ran it through my die cut machine with the Diagonal Stitched Rectangle to add some interest around the edges and to give a faux framed look.
  • I rubbed over my panel with an anti-static brush and then I stamped the sentiment in my Misti.  I clear heat embossed it to help it pop against the background.
  • I splattered the whole front of the panel with my black Posca pen and set aside to dry.
  • I glued the finished card front onto a piece of dark green, then onto a piece of lighter green cardstock.  I added that onto an A2 sized card base.
  • I added 3 shiny black gems around the sentiment to finish my card off.

Here for You

Hello and Welcome
Today's card is a very simple one.
I think sympathy cards should be that way, simplicity at a time of grief.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began by going out into the garden and I found this leaf from one of my plants that I thought would make a great print and it did.  It has a lot of texture which adds interest.
  • Next, I got out my Gel Plate and pressed some Wilted Violet and Shaded Lilac Distress Oxide inks directly onto the plate.  I sprayed with a bit of water to bring out the chalkiness of the inks, then brayered the colours together covering the plate.
  • I pressed the leaf onto my plate and used the rounded end of a paint brush handle to help the leaf make good contact with the plate.  By doing this step, it helps to transfer more details to your final print.
  • I carefully removed the leaves with a pair of tweezers, then rubbed a piece of white cardstock onto the plate to get the print.
  • I splattered with my white Posca pen to add interest.
  • I rubbed the print with my anti-static powder tool then placed the piece into my Misti to stamp the sentiment.
  • I glued it onto an A2 white card base.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Lots of Leaves- Stencil Layering

Welcome
Have you ever stenciled over a stencil??
It's fun and what a unique look it can give.
That's what I did to create the background for my card today.

So here's what I did to create my card.
  • I began with a piece of heavy white cardstock.  I placed the Lots of Leaves stencil from ACLD over my cardstock and using a blending brush, I applied some Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide ink.
  • When I was happy with the inking, I left the stencil in place and put the Simple Grid stencil right over top of it. Be sure to secure well.
  • Using some Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide ink, I inked right over the leaves, giving them some wonderful pattern.
  • I removed the stencil, splattered with some water to lift the ink in places, then set aside.
  • When dry, I placed the panel into my Misti to stamp the sentiment from Pinkfresh Studios.
  • I cut a strip of black cardstock and stamped the strip with Versamark ink, then white heat embossed it.
  • I glued the panel onto a piece of green cardstock, then onto a heavy white card base.
  • I pop dotted the black sentiment strip under the large sentiment.

Welcome Fall

Hello and Welcome
This card was just a fun one done during some spare time I had, trying out some new to me products.

So a bit of a story.......
In my neighbourhood, a local artist, Meredith Sexton, has decided to set up a Free Little Art Gallery.
It has been a wonderful addition to our area.  It is based on one she saw on social media set up in the States.  Anyone can contribute to the Gallery to share and anyone can take a piece of art to appreciate.
I really like that it is all inclusive and lots of the kids in our neighbourhood have been adding special little art pieces as well as the artists.
I've had the pleasure of adding some cards to the box, just a great little way for our community to connect and share some love during which has been a difficult year and a half.

Here are some pictures showing the box...I think more neighbourhoods should have this.

So onto my card details.
  • I began by creating what I would use for my background.  I cut a white cardstock panel, then using my Vicki Boutin Art Crayons, I inked it up.  I rubbed the crayons onto a piece of acetate, diluted with water and pressed onto my cardstock.  You can see this technique and how I used it in the Tutorials section above.
  • I added layers of colour to the background, drying between layers and dripping the extra ink to add interest.
  • I set the inked piece aside to dry, then took out another piece of white cardstock to stencil onto.  I place the Layered Fancy Leaf stencil over the cardstock and used some more of the crayons to ink it up.  I rubbed the crayon onto my sheet of acetate, then picked up the colour with a stencil brush.
  • I splattered with my black Posca pen and simply die cut the 'fall' letters from white cardstock.
  • I cut a white border using the Memory Box stitched dies, to create a frame.  I glued the first panel behind that frame then onto a heavy white card base.
  • Next, I cut another piece of white, a piece of matching orange, then the stenciled leaf using the stitched die again.  I glued them all together and foam mounted them over the inked background.
  • Finally, I glued on the 'fall' letters.
