Tuning Into Retro

Good Morning
Today's card was a fun one to create using this new Portal stencil from A Colorful Life Designs and the new to me Music to My Ears stamp set by Catherine Pooler.
I went for a Retro looking card using this vintage radio.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I got out a piece of white cardstock, placed it into my Misti and stamped the Tie Dye using some Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide ink.
  • I removed the stamped panel, placed it onto my Make Art Station and inked up the Portal stencil over the stamped pattern using some more Hickory Smoke DOX ink.  I took some more of that ink, diluted it with water and used that to splatter the panel to add more interest.
  • While that dried, I stamped the radio in black and die cut it out.  I used a grey Copic marker to add some details to the radio.
  • I placed the dry stenciled panel into my Misti to stamp the sentiment.  I clear heat embossed it to help make it pop.
  • I glued the stenciled piece onto some grey cardstock, then onto an A2 sized card base and used some foam tape to pop up the radio in the center.

Retro Christmas

Welcome
Time for a new release at A Colorful Life Designs.
I created this simple card using this fun, new Marvelous Masks Diamond.

So, here's what I did to create my card.
  • I started by cutting a piece of white cardstock and placed one of the medium sized Diamonds into the center of my card panel.  I inked it up with some Candied Apple Distress Oxide ink.
  • I moved the mask over to the left and then the right, inking again with the Distress Oxide ink.
  • I cleaned off the stencil, moved it to the top and then the bottom to ink with some Lucky Clover DOX ink.
  • When the inking was all done, I splattered with my white Posca pen and set aside to dry.
  • When dry, I placed it into my Misti, rubbed over with my anti-static powder and stamped the sentiment.
  • I glued it onto a piece of white cardstock, then popped that over a piece of red cardstock, then onto a white card base.
  • Finally, I added 3 black gems to finish it off.

Tie Dye Garden and Tutorial

Hello and Welcome

Trying something new out today.  I think it's so fun to play with a new technique and I wanted to show you how easy it and I could use the inks I already have on hand.  I read the tutorial over at Splitcoast Stampers but decided to take some pics so you could see how I did it.

So here's what I did.

I began with a plain, white coffee filter from the Dollar Store.

I scrunched it all up into a ball creating lots of creases and folds.

I opened the filter up, sprayed with water and gathered it together from the center out....sort of like holding a fan shape.

I took my Distress Oxide ink pads and rubbed it directly onto the filter, rotating it as I went along.

After I was happy with the inking, I opened the filter up and flattened it out to reveal this.
*when you open it up if there isn't enough inking on spots, just refold and ink again*

So when the inked filter was all nice and dry, I glued it onto a piece of heavy cardstock, folding over the edges and gluing them around the back.
Use a glue stick to adhere as the liquid glue will most likely make a mess.
I placed the piece into my Misti and stamped the sentiment using some Versafine black ink.
I die-cut the flowers and glued them over the bkg.
I mounted it all onto a heavy white card base.

Thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.

Here Comes Santa Claus

Morning.
Hope you are having fun creating.

Meet my simple Christmas card using this super cute retro Santa.
At this time of the season, keeping it simple and quick is perfect to finish those last minute holiday cards.
For my card, I began by stamping the dot pattern along the bottom of my card.  I place the stamp border from WPlus 9 into my Misti, inked it up with Candied Apple Distress ink and stamped.  I moved my paper up in my Misti and stamped again until I was happy with the pattern and spacing.
Next I stamped the sentiment, then stamped the Santa and fussy cut him out.
I pop dotted the flying Santa and done.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and thanks so much for coming by and taking a look.
